Forgot to give me the flan to begin with and then the one they did give me was an already expired one that was made a week ago..like really?

I barely write reviews but wanted to let people know that, even though they forgot to give me the flan to begin with, it's the fact that the one they did give me was an already expired one that was made a week ago..

Drift away and enjoy heaven. Grilled chicken bowls here are the best.

TASTY!!! (Self explanatory) The grilled chicken bowl was great nicely complimented by corn, rice, beans, fresh cilantro and tortilla chips all in one bowl. Definitely, a must try for all healthy eaters.

$30 family meal consisting of 6 pieces of grilled and 6 pieces of fried chickens. Also came with side of fries, beans, and yucca fries.

There are Salvadoran spots all over the city, but I'm semi-convinced that one of the best is right here in Stafford. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but upon entering the doors, one will find a spacious restaurant with a TV or two with plenty of seating. The service is prompt and kind. There is no pretension here, which is my favorite kind of vibe. Aside from the desayuno (breakfast) special, which comes with a tamal, plantains, chorizo, eggs, with cream and queso at $14, there is nothing on the breakfast menu that exceeds $10. I'm sure prices were friendlier before, but this place really does an excellent job in stretching the value for most food. The main dishes (plato fuertes) are all around $13, unless one wants the parrillada (meat platter) for two, which comes at a cool $30. After ordering a handful of different pupusas, a couple of tamales, and a couple of drinks, my bill was $14 flat. The pupusas themselves are excellent. They're wonderfully grilled with just the right amount of char and filling. The runaway winners are the mixtas, which are filled with beans and pork and are excellent with the accompanying slaw and spicy vinegar. While the corn tamale was a bit too dry for my taste, the addition of crema was huge. I thought the chicken tamal was significantly better, and was texturally an excellent antojito (#2). I would highly recommend folks give their pastelitos a shot, as well as tostadas and baleadas during breakfast. Pro tip: come for their happy hour, which is on Sundays between 4 PM and 7 PM where pupusas are $1.80 each. There is a max of 15 per person. ____________ (#1) The OG: https://www.yelp.com/biz/lazo-1-pupuseria-y-restaurante-houston (#2) A snack.

You know a good truck has clout when there's a line of 4-5 parties waiting to order and even more…read morecars in the parking lot. And no info on Yelp! To be fair, they have quite a few reviews on Google so I will relay and support some of the things seen from there. Sazón Garífuna is a pit stop for many Houstonians that are part of the Garífuna community and others alike. The ladies taking orders cared for each order as if it was their own family eating it. I said I'd just get a 'little snack' and maybe have 'leftovers for tomorrow', but alas, not a bite remained after the night was done. The pastelitos come with 2 per order, some repollo (cabbage), pickled onions and diced veggies resembling pico de gallo. Then, you get two sauces: a tomato based sauce and a creamier slightly tart sauce. The filling options for the pastelitos are carne molida (ground beef), pollo (chicken), and pescado (fish) but select meats are only available on a given day. Today, they were out of the pollo but had the other two options. We opted for the carne molida. The fried outer shell of the pastelitos retained their crunch all the way home!! The creamy sauce paired so well with it and the pickled veggies cut the grease to even it out, preventing it from being overly heavy. The caracol and camarón (shrimp) dish however was super unique and definitely stole the show. The camarón was lightly fried with a taste of coconut and along with the caracol were seasoned with some... for lack of a better word, sazón! On the side, there were plantain chips which I always love. The cabbage and veggies were less in this dish but still had the creamy sauce on top. Finally, you get a side of rice and beans too. Not sure if it was intended to be like this but I also used some of the creamy sauce from my pastelitos for the meat for some extra cream. I would DEFINITELY come back to try the other dishes - it's a smaller menu but I would want to try it all! Note that they are cash only but also accept Zelle. Consider trying this amazing small business next time you are in the area! :)

The sangria was NOT worth the wait. I expected better from this place. It was also my friend's first ever visit and I had raved about my previous visit. I am not raving about the place now. Friend ordered lobster bisque. Much later we were told they ran out. Told in a manner of "oh well" and a shrug by our disinterested server. I found our female server surly, unhelpful, and appeared like she had no interest whatsoever in doing her job as patrons were disturbing her day. She should have stayed home. Once my friend decided what she wanted to order, this server had the audacity to tell her what salad she was going to get. Not suggest. Tell! My friend did not want salad as the menu said there was the option was soup OR salad and she wanted and ordered the corn chowder, you know, since "they ran out of the lobster bisque." Our server apparently left. Took us a while to notice due to the lack of service which was all hurry up and wait. (The place was not crowded at all). Took forever to get our check. We never saw our server again. Another male server came by. We told him, twice, to split the check. Which he did not. As a reward for making the request, he brought over the incorrect check. I mean you cannot make this total experience up. The food was good The lack of quality service ruined the experience, negated the food's taste, and the surly server did not earn the tip I gave her. It was my friend's first time there and we were made to feel extremely unwelcome.

The food here never misses. It always comes out piping hot, flavorful, and in Texas‑sized portions (and yes... the drinks are strong, so pace yourself). Honestly, the best strategy is to order a few dishes and share -- that way you can taste everything without popping a button. This time I tried the Mulita taco for the first time and oh my goodness... delicious. My crew tore up the chicken nachos, the birria grilled cheese, and the taco plate. We even grabbed a chicken burrito to go for my husband at home. And that soft‑serve margarita deserves its own round of applause. BTW, our server was great. She kept a pulse on our eating pace and brought some to-go boxes when she saw us slowing down. If you haven't been, I absolutely recommend Dona Leti's. Just bring your patience, your appetite, and a designated driver -- because they do not play with those margaritas.

The flavors are excellent and not too spicy for anyone who is sensitive to spice. The food is pretty expensive and yes, the portions are pretty big, but a lot of the food presented is side food like rice, onions, and cheese. If you put those aside, the portions of the actual food is not that big. I also do not like how almost everything had an up charge. Shout out to our waiter for telling us if certain things had an up charge but almost everything we asked for had an up charge that was not written on the menu. For example, for my pupusa, I wanted bean and cheese instead of cheese and there was a one dollar upcharge. We asked for some jalapeños and that cost a dollar and the cup was so tiny. Also certain types of meats for certain types of tacos have an up charge that are not listed on the menu and I wish they would just be clear about that. They also made a mistake and overcharged me by three dollars which I did not really catch until after I paid... Our server was nice, but there are definitely pros and cons of the place.
