I can't believe I never came here before. Great tex mex. Cool vibrant relaxing atmosphere and the waitress was very attentive. Food was good. I never had queso dip with chicharron before. We also ordered the chimichanga with fajita beef and it was tasty. The chimichangas were cheesy especially after pouring the cheese cup on top. But I asked for more pico and the flavors working together were amazing. I probably would get the ground beef chimichanga next time or not! I love Gringos for their consistency! I've ordered the same dish every time for the last 10 years and it's still sooooo good and probably even better every time! I tried Gringo's for the first time for a friend's bday lunch. It instantly became one of my favorite Tex mex spots. I got the chicken enchiladas suizas and OMG was it amazing. Some of the best enchiladas I ever did have. The ingredients complemented each other well. There wasn't too much cheese or too much sauce. It had the perfect balance, and it had just the right amount of tanginess. The charro beans were yummy too, and I'm picky about my beans. It was a comforting meal altogether. The avocado was in PRISTINE CONDITION. It's so hard to find avocados like that in store. It was a beautiful green color, and it was soft and creamy. I had zero complaints about my dish. 10/10. Yalllll and they even have an ice cream machine in the back!! Free dessert, yes please!! Service was phenomenal. The inside is hugeeeeee. Clean and spacious. Plenty of parking too. This is one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants. Everything is great: food, service, & ambiance.

My fiancé and I decided to finally try gringos since moving to houston (he's been here 2 years, i've been here a year). It was a place we passed many times and always said we'd go, but forgot when it came time to pick a restaurant. We fell into the position to try it, and were not disappointed! To begin, although it was 1p on a saturday, and they were busy, we got sat immediately. They were flipping tables like mad people, and the busers deserve an award. Once we were sat, we were given time to look at the menu before ordering. Some places that flip tables quickly also rush the customers, we didn't feel rushed at all. We shared the fajitas and they were DELICIOUS. We compared it to escalantes, and this wins 100%. The chicken had an incredible taste, the onions were perfectly caramelized, and the tortillas were fresh. Everything was so good we left stuffed. After sitting through an incredibly delicious meal, in a restaurant with so much energy. We wanted to enjoy the atmosphere a bit more. We got our free ice cream and enjoyed the beautiful seating outside. It was nice to decompress after our meal. All in all, we are very happy and we'll be returning. read more

We still go out of our way to go to Gringos (since we are inner loppers and the closest one is 18mins away) Food is always consistent but service has been going down hill at this location for the past several visits. So much tho, we started frequenting the 45 South location, even though it's more of a drive but it's better service. This last visit, it took almost 15 mins to even get our CCQ order AND THEN another 5 mins for our salsa & chips ‍ Thankfully the next bartender that came on shift was more attentive but still not the norm service that we expect. It's less and less frequent we come here mainly due to service vs. drive/ convenience. read more

I cheated on the Marisco bowl with chicken, for the fajita bowl with chicken and I want that old thing back... The fajita bowl wasn't bad but if you love seafood like me you will appreciate the crawfish tail and juicy shrimp in the Marisco bowl. Also the fajita bowl was supposed to be smothered in queso when it was actually just sprinkled. Probably didn't need it anyway. Their ground beef burrito is spot-on! Balance that with seasoned rice and refried beans, you got yourself a winner winner burrito dinner. We ordered to-go so that we can eat at the comfort of our own home. Much easier to do than eating out when you have a toddler that wants to run around! The food comes nicely compartmentalized in a TV dinner style tray. The chicken burrito is too salty for me, but the ground beef burrito is perfect. The rice and beans are seasoned well. Appears to have been cooked in/with food as the plastic is hard and is ridged and contracted. I will not be returning as quality control doesn't appear to be a priority here!! Very disappointed. Came here with my husband, my brother and his girlfriend. We may all be different in opinion but one thing we all agree on. Gringo has fantastic food, service and environment!! This spot was unexpectedly very good! My Aunt and Uncle recommended this spot. I got the shrimp fajitas. Whatever butter they serve with it is delicious. I absolutely loved it!! I washed it down with a Jameson and ginger ale. Also the green cream salsa was also another favorite. I absolutely loved that as well. I also love that have free soft serve in your way out. Went in to Gringos Stafford location3/18/25 Tues night. I come here pretty often. This time I was treating a friend after work. I had previously taken this same friend and my sister to Gringos last week for dinner. The meal was great. Food hot and tasty. Waitress Kayla as sweet as she can be. Very attentive and friendly. Even one of the managers Freyda super friendly came several times and laughed and joked with us. When our bill came we noticed that my friend was charged $2.99 extra to substitute a plain green salad and $2.99 for a few Avocado slices. I didn't question the Avocado upcharge but last week we weren't charged for salad because my friend is on a low carb diet and doesn't eat rice or beans. I mentioned this to Kayla and she said that she has to charge...there is no other way to add an upgrade salad. So I reminded her that last week we weren't charged. She apologized and sent a different manager to the table. The manager approached us as though she was eager to help and asked what our issue was. She knew what the issue was because Kayla told her...but I explained our dilemma. She apologized and stated the same thing Kayla said, it has to be put in "the system" as an upgrade and there is nothing she can do. She then offerred to go to her general manager. She returns and and asks me FOR MY RECEIPT from last week. " My general manager says to ask for the receipt, can you show me that you didnt pay that $2.99". I felt humiliated. As if I were lying to save $2.99. I just purchased 2 meals that cost over $70 and a margarita that cost $19.99 but i have to PROVE that I wasn't charged to substitute beans and rice with a small dinner salad. I told her(sorry I didn't get her name) forget it. I was very irritated and made to feel like my loyalty in coming to Gringos several times a week meant NOTHING and my integrity was in question. Being asked to show a receipt. I told the manager to give me my bill and I will pay it. She gave me the bill back and she left. The other manager Frayla came back and really apologized. She sincerely felt bad and offered to remove the $2.99. I thanked her for her kindness and told her i am paying the full amount. I told her, like I mentioned to the other manager, that I will be updating my Google review. I even wrote my screen name on the receipt so they could be sure to see the review. I still tipped Kayla more than 20% because she deserved it. In conclusion, I felt it was a matter of principal and good customer service for a regular, repeat customer. Asking me to prove that I wasn't charged $2.99 when my bill was almost $80 was petty and unnecessary. I won't be back to this Gringos. I love the food here, so perhaps I'll try a different location. read more

I ordered the Southwest eggrolls for takeout twice within four days and both times they tasted old and not fresh. They also looked like they had been reheated and they were even lukewarm. As always, I slurped up the green salsa with the warm, crispy tortilla chips until I had to stop to leave room for fish tacos! The fish tacos were well cooked and dressed with a chipotle sauce that was just-right spicy. My server, Kai, was friendly and attentive without hovering, and he cheerfully and promptly took care of my requests for extra salsa, paper napkins and a jalapeño-free life. I visited at an in-between time so it was quiet and not crowded. It's been one of my favorite eateries for a long time, and I still give it five stars! read more

We were leaving without realizing our tip was never included since we had ordered take out. We came in late on a Saturday night, an hour before closing and wasn't sure what to expect. It's a lot larger than it looks. The wait was estimated at 20 minutes but took less than 10. I love this location. There are two brothers that work the bar and the other works at the stafford location. They weren't here today but there was a group of other folks talking loud as ever about a subject matter inappropriate for a family restaurant, I'll leave it at that. Come to find out they dine there often and complain about their food just to get out of paying. How pathetic! I come strictly for the watermelon margarita and it didnt disappoint today.
