I have not been to this theater in so long, and I am happily amazed that it is still together and running successfully. Growing up in Tempe, my family took me and my siblings to this movie theater every other week to watch movies and the attractions they have inside of the movie theater with all of the wax figures as well as games was fascinating. And just to be able to come back all grown up and an adult now too share this experience with someone else made me feel just like a kid again and at home. The staff there were very welcoming and kind including the manager. We met as well. The movie theater itself is not your typical theater. It is pretty small but comfortable. I didn't very much like how the lights still stayed on in the theater and you can hear the next movie playing next-door. It is definitely a theater. I expect to find myself often. Their popcorn and slushy are amazing and keep you fulfilled throughout the movie. The theater itself has changed a bit, but still looks nice but back then it was bigger and was very crowded but guessing because of Covid, we've lost some people. It is very pretty to come during Christmas and it never disappointed with all of the lights and Christmas characters hanging on the roof. read more

Ryan McMahan, you restored my faith in customer service! My 7 year old had a field trip to this incredible theater and his not so bright mommy gave him $20 for food. He came home and said he bought two candies. Now I know inflation and movie theater charges are astronomical, but $20 for two candies?! Heck no!!! I emailed the movie theater and Ryan responded within an hour on a Thursday NIGHT!!! He asked me to describe what I lost and as soon as I did he immediately responded! He said "that is what I have! I did see a boy who was really upset when he left. I obviously don't know if this was your son, but I hope he can breathe easier now." I was left speechless by his sincere empathy and honesty!! This place is so weird and I love it. Chock full of mannequins, cutouts, and memorabilia, the decor is adorable Hollywood kitsch. They play movies that have been out for a while, plus classics and some foreign films. The theater itself isn't massive and the seats aren't as new as in other places, but I think everything contributes to the overall aesthetic. The $3.50 price is so worth it, and $2.50 Tuesdays are even better! Even though it's not state of the art seating, sound and screen quality are super good. Concessions aren't more expensive than other movie theaters and they have a full selection of what you'd expect. Bathrooms are clean and big enough. Parking is easy. What's not to love? I wish I was turning 10 and having my birthday party here. The whole place reminds me of how magical and kitschy going to the movies should be. read more

Sometimes if something seems " too good to be true". - it probably is - except for Pollack Cinemark! Michael Pollack has made sure that all people, young and old can view movies at his theatre. Thursday tickets are only $2.95 each and there is a great assortment of current films, independent films and Disney classics. So whether you have a few children or are an older adult on a fixed income- there is something for everyone! I love coming here because it's much cheapernthan the big chain theaters and the hype is down on the movies. Michael Pollack really cares about his customers and makes sure they enjoy their moviegoing experience. I will continue to see movies here for those reasons and the ONLY reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is becausenthe seating could stand to be improved. I really like to come to this theatre because it still feels like a family owned venue. You can always catch the second run of the films, plus you get great service every visit. I love all the memorabilia too, it's fun to walk around and reminisce. Hubby brings me on a date night and we get popcorn and a soda, he likes it because there are non soda options. I like it because I can bring in a refill cup. Plus they have coffee. I even got to meet Mr. Pollack one time, he's really nice, and took time to visit with everyone that wanted to stop and talk. I will come back often and recommend the theatre to everyone as often as I can. read more

I bestow upon Pollack Tempe Cinemas the coveted 4 stars, equating to "Yay! I'm a fan." in the Yelp rating system. Why am I a fan? 1. Cheap movies. 2. The place is full of Hollywood gitch. 3. When the movies are affordable we go more often. 4. Affordable concession stand. At Harkins and the other big theaters we stay clear of the $3.50 popcorn and $3.50 drinks. At Tempe a kids pack including a small drink and a small popcorn is $2.00. 5. My kids are creeped out by the semi life-like statues they have here, especially the one of Yul Brenner from the movie West World. Creepy. I personally find the Richard Nixon figure really creepy. I've lived in South Tempe for 15+ years and have witnessed Pollack Tempe Cinemas transform into one of the best places to watch a movie in the East Valley. In the last few years, they have added digital projectors, upgraded seating and now take credit cards. They still offer $2.50 movies on Tuesday and free refills on a large popcorn and $1.50 refills using their loyalty cup. Thankfully, PTC has retained its unique charm and remains replete with all kinds of random movie memorabilia, including a life sized Darth Vader and Jack Sparrow and pictures of past and present Hollywood stars. This place puts a smile on my face every time I go there. I can tell Michael Pollack really takes pride in offering movie fans a family friendly movie experience. *Tip 1* In case you need a little buzz before going to see a movie at PTC, check out Flanny's or Casa De Juana in the same strip mall **Tip 2** PTC shows classic movies too. Check their calendar. Last year I watched the glorious Planes, Trains and Automobiles around Christmastime ***Tip 3*** Speaking of Christmas....the strip mall that is home to PTC is decorated in thousands of lights during the Christmas season. I haven't been here since before Covid. It was nice to see that you can pick your seat like at Harkins. Unfortunately for the theater that I was in, you couldn't see what the aisle or seat numbers were. Two people came into the theater and had to turn on their phone flashlights just to see the row letters and then they couldn't figure out the seat numbers because they're not marked. When the lights are off and the movie is starting, having someone turn on their flashlight on their phone just to find the correct row was bothersome. I wasn't mad at the people. I felt bad for them as they were embarrassed and annoyed as well. This theater definitely needs to work on that. The concept is great but you have to make it workable for your guests. The other thing I found annoying was that I could hear the movie playing next door. I'm not sure if the volume was too loud next door or if the walls are just too thin. Either way, that should NOT happen in a theater. You want to hear your own movie playing, not the one next door. I've been coming here probably 15 years but today was disappointing. read more

While all the movie theaters are changing to compete with the big markets for new releases, more modern amenities like recliner or reserved seats they all have one thing in common... higher prices :-). Something about keeping it simple while at the same time making subtle changes is what makes this place so great. If I had to describe in a few choice words, 'Nostalgic''Classic', & 'Fun'!! This place still remains one of my favorites as it really embodies a local tradition that many places have lost over the years. I'm not big on seeing movies when they release and honestly a lot of movies can be streamed online by the time they make it here, but the atmosphere of this place makes me feel like a kid all over again... between the video games, memorabilia, low tix cost and inexpensive popcorn & drink combos, you can't beat the experience. The movie you see shouldn't judge the experience as even I've sat threw a few that I could of skipped with the fam!! But also watched quite a few that were worth the value of seeing a few times. If your single and like the old school, take your date here! If your married 1 week or 50+ years you should go and spend some quality time in a classic setting! read more

As a general rule, I am a homebody. Movies: I like watching at home. Not only is it more comfortable, but I don't have to deal with the germs and potentially awkward social situations confronted in theaters: cellular phone talking, rude customers, feet on chair in front, etc. It's not like I am germaphobic. Well, maybe a little. But airplanes, movie theaters, and hotel room bed spreads are notorious germ spreading location. Oops, I got sidetracked. When I want or my companion wants a big screen experience, this is my favorite venue. The theater decor contains a history lesson of movie memorabilia, and the floors are typically spotless - always a good sign. Additionally, the prices are more agreeable here versus the competition. If I recall correct, the price on Tuesdays drops way down to 1980s price range. Mostly, I am content with my Netflix's, Google, and Hulu movies selection at home on roku. read more

My husband took the kids here when I was out of town and said it was a great experience so when I wanted to take the kids to the movies two days ago I looked this place up. Upon purchasing online- I immediately saw that the processing fees were less than any other movie theater which was great! We arrived a few minutes before the movie started and had no issues checking in and finding our seats. This place is spotless clean and the pricing for food and drinks is phenomenal. The pride this place radiates shows but more than anything- the staff- Every. Single. Person- was incredibly nice. They asked us how we enjoyed the movies after, offered to open the theater door for us (the employee coming from the snack stand all the way to door 1) when I had my arms full etc etc. I hope the owner reads these reviews. Although this cinema is on the older side of what we all are used to now with the extra large seats are recliner's. This was a super clean and still nostalgic cinema. We loved all the statues they had of different characters such as Star Wars. Both the picture and sound quality of the movie was on point. The seats in the cinema were comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom was clean. And the popcorn was delicious. To top this all off we only paid seven dollars for two tickets. So if there's a movie that you missed in the movie theaters and is no longer there I highly recommend this place read more
