Went to Polizzi's on a Saturday night with my boyfriend for a date night, and it was fantastic! We were able to get a same-day reservation, but make sure to select either dining room or bar seating on the website, as they have two separate sections. We chose the dining room. Parking was easy, and we walked up the side pathway to the restaurant in Village Gate. It was very busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away by the window. Our waiter quickly came over with bread and water, and we ordered the Gabbiano Chianti wine, which was so delicious that we ended up ordering two bottles! Service was great - our waiter shared the backstory of the owner, who previously worked at Tournedos before opening Polizzi's. For appetizers, we had the in-house made sausage sampler, and it was amazing. The blueberry sausage was unlike anything I've had before - I would totally buy it to take home! For the main course, we had the Tournedos of beef au Poivre and the cast iron skillet baked cod. The cod was perfectly flaky, and the feta was so creamy and melty. My boyfriend loved the Tournedos of beef au poivre and said it was cooked to perfection. We finished with the espresso pots de crème for dessert, which was delightful! They were out of the butterscotch buddino, so we'll definitely be back to try that next time. Everything was great - the service, the unique menu, and the overall experience. This is a one-of-a-kind spot in Rochester that you won't find anywhere else! Highly recommend!

I went here to celebrate my birthday with my family. and we all really enjoyed ourselves! Our waitress was amazing. We all really enjoyed our food. I was thrilled to see that they had oil and bread, as I find that many places do not have that anymore. I love that they have crème brûlée too as that is my favorite dessert. I loved their eggplant parmesan. The eggplant were very thin and crispy, which I really enjoyed and I loved that you get to choose between penne and spaghetti for your pasta.

First time visit.. let's go! So we decided to come here as they seemed to have an interesting menu and it's the warmer months and I wanted an Aperol Spritz. My friend made a reservation and we arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation and they were able to seat us. Just so you know this WAS The Gate House. They kept the space as it was before but freshened up the space. Our server was friendly and gave us time to enjoy our meal and gave us info on the specials. He also asked us how we wanted our courses spaced out a nice touch. We got our drinks wine for my friend and the spritz for me. It was refreshing on this warm early Friday evening. We started with the Fried Calamari Greek Style (it had peppers and feta) this was tasty and a little different than just regular calamari. For our mains I got the Baked Cod with Tomatoes, Chorizo and White Wine with a side of Saffron Rice. This was rather tasty and it was also great to use the bread that came earlier (with olive oil)the bread was warm a plus) to sop us the sauce from this. It was flavorful and the fish was delicious. Also this dish I believe was gluten free. My friend she got the Steak Friets and it lacked flavor which is too bad. It was just as if someone forgot to season everything. We did not get dessert, the place was busy though with a birthday party and they also have a nice outdoor seating area. All in all it's a solid place that I've heard about but have never been to. It's like a hidden gem but look over the menu prior to your visit. Prices are moderate but nothing insane. 4.5 outta 5 They have a shared lot as it's in Village Gate.

We had a reservation for a party of ten, and we were so happy they could accommodate us! We were here celebrating a birthday, and we could not have been happier with the meal! We were seated in front of another large birthday party, so the restaurant itself was quite noisy, but nothing unmanageable. It was a bit hard to locate inside the Village Gate, but we all made our way around. Our waiter was great and explained all of the specials on the menu well and was very attentive. My mother and I shared the saganaki, (flaming cheese). It was yummy and fun, but next time I think we would get another appetizer. For my main, I ordered the steak frites, which was delicious! I loved the bordelaise sauce, it was delicious! And the fries were perfectly salted. I think the green beans could have done with some more seasoning, but I just added some salt myself. While the whole meal was good, the star of the show for me was desserts! I shared two desserts with the birthday girl, the vanilla bean crème brûlée and traditional cannoli. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and we would come back again for another birthday or celebration!

First visit! The atmosphere is pretty and homey. The service was amazing! Our server explained dishes and was very helpful . I've never had dolmades before and they were amazing! The crab risotto was loaded with crab lumped right on top. We will definitely go back to try other dishes.

More girls' night deliciousness and fun. Good food, good friends and good drinks are always a great combo and Polizzi's checks off all the boxes.

I really want to give this place a great 5 star review but it wasn't up to par. But let's start with the good stuff. They have great customer service, we called and let them know we're running late and they were ok with it. We got seated pretty quickly when we got there. The waiter was good other than he was quite slow taking our order and taking the check. The food was ok, the appetizer was decent. Presentation wasn't there, i ordered a tuscan chicken. It was swimming in some kind of liquid, there wasn't much flavor and just overwhelmingly boring. The special was called Trout with similar topping like clams casino but forgot what its called. It was ok, I thought the food was similar to a diner food. Probably will not be back.

What a great find in the art district of downtown Roc. A well rounded menu with Mediterranean influences from Italy and Greece offers something for everyone. Polizzi's came highly recommended by locals, but finding it on Yelp was quite a chore. Even with the correct spelling I had to find it on google and the link to Yelp. I started with the beet salad. It's hard to get excited over a salad, but this was exceptional. Fresh and vibrant arugula , lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. Tender golden and red beets topped fresh goat cheese to balance the acidity. Just wonderful. My my friend had the soup of the day, cream of potato with Italian sausage and said it was really good. Although they offered several special entrees off menu, I opted for the salmon from the standard menu. This was an excellently constructed dish. Good sized portion of King salmon wrapped in prosciutto, pan seared and finished in the oven and served over a savory white bean ragout. Very impressive although my salmon was a bit overcooked. But I would still get it again. My friend tried lamb chops for the first time in his life, so this pivotal moment was in the hands of chef. They came beautifully seasoned and grilled med rare and served with a bed of buttery mash and green beans. He said he loved the flavor of the lamb, but could have used one more chop on the plate to feel satisfied. There were two and didn't yield much meat. All the service staff including hostess and our waitress were fantastic. Very friendly vibe and a warm inviting atmosphere. The are so many good choices in the area, but Polizzi's is a pretty easy one to make.

I came to Polizzi's for the first time to celebrate a birthday and was appreciative that they were able to accommodate a 10 person group! It was a bit confusing at first to locate the restaurant inside village gate, but we all made it inside without too much of a struggle. The atmosphere was very classy and the staff were very attentive throughout the night. Since our reservation was in evening and we were seated next to another large party, it was a little hard to hear over the noise inside the retaurant. For dinner I ordered the tuscan chicken pasta and a side of parmesan seasoned house made french fries, which were both pretty good! They also served our party with fresh bread and oil, which were amazing! I would definitely give this place a try if you are looking for a nicer dinner spot to enjoy with friends or loved ones!

The restaurant was quite crowded during Friday happy hour, and one server was responsible for both the tables and the bar. He was clearly overworked, so we were not attended to as consistently as we hoped and we only had time for one round of orders. The food took a long time to arrive, while the drinks came out almost immediately. *Cosmopolitan Bianca: was very heavy on the gin. I could only taste the lime, with no hint of cranberry or hibiscus. The hibiscus reduction added a pretty purple color but did not provide any tart or floral flavor. *Sweet Potato Fries: were not perfectly crispy, but the portion size was generous. The honey could have used additional spices, since the dish leaned heavily toward sweetness. *Pepperoni Pizza: This was a good shareable option, although it lacked a proper char and crust even when fresh. The dough sat in a noticeable amount of salty oil. The pepperoni cupped nicely and added a slight bit of texture, but the rest of the pizza was rather soggy. The happy hour menu was serviceable, but nothing was executed particularly well. It is not a bad spot for small bites after work, but I would not go out of my way to dine here.

I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

Today, we're stepping into Pane Vino on the Avenue, and this one was special because we came here to celebrate my wife's birthday." "Right away, Pane Vino gives you that intimate, date-night kind of feel. The lighting is low, the atmosphere is calm, and it feels like a place where you're meant to sit back, take your time, and enjoy the moment. It's not loud or chaotic -- it's relaxed, comfortable, and welcoming." "The service matched that same energy. The staff was friendly, attentive, and never rushed us. They checked in when needed, made sure everything was good, and let us enjoy the night. When you're celebrating something important like a birthday, that kind of service really matters." "Before the food even came out, they brought the bread to the table -- and honestly, that deserves its own mention." "The bread was warm, fresh, and soft on the inside with a nice crust. Paired with the butter, parmesan, and olive oil, it was one of those appetizers you keep reaching for without realizing it. Simple, but done right -- and that's always a good sign." "Now let's talk about the food -- because that's the main fight." "We ordered the chicken parm, and presentation-wise, it came out looking exactly how you want it to. A generous portion, nicely plated, and you can tell right away this isn't something that was thrown together." "The chicken itself was thick and cooked properly. The breading had a nice crisp to it without being greasy, and the inside was tender and juicy -- not dry at all. That balance is key with chicken parm, and they nailed it." "The sauce was well done. Not too sweet, not too acidic -- it complemented the chicken instead of overpowering it. You could taste everything working together instead of one flavor taking over." "And the cheese? Melted evenly across the top, good coverage, no burnt spots, no rubbery texture. Each bite stayed together and felt intentional, which tells you the kitchen takes pride in what they're putting out." "Overall, the chicken parm was classic, comforting, and executed well. No gimmicks -- just solid Italian food done right." "So here's my verdict: Food quality -- strong. Service -- consistent and professional. Atmosphere -- perfect for a date night or special occasion." **"Now let's put some numbers to it. Food: 8.5 out of 10. Service: 9 out of 10. Atmosphere: 9 out of 10. Overall rating for Pane Vino on the Avenue: 8.8 out of 10."** "That's my take -- now I want to hear from you. Have you been to Pane Vino? What's your go-to Italian dish? Finally upon her return the waitress took our drink orders and when I asked she gave us the listing of specials for the evening. My niece had a specialty mocktail that was described as having a "hint" of lavender- turns out the other items were done with a hint and all my niece (and I tasted) was the strong presence of lavender. It was my neices first time trying them and she said she couldn't wait to have them again. For our main dishes, my niece had the penne vodka- which was "okay" but really lacked on favor, nothing really special about it. I honestly think she makes it better at home. For my entree I had the Salmon- which came with a very thick strawberry sauce over the top of it. My fish was cooked perfectly and tasted great- without the thick "strawberry like" sauce over the top of it (I ended up scraping it off of the fish. I also wasn't a fan of the black rice-it had a very off putting smell and after having my first taste decided one bite was enough.

Every popular Italian restaurant was packed at night. Thankfully Tony D's has a spot by the bar and…read moreit has good reviews. Service is excellent and bartender checks on you constantly . Portion is huge. Meatballs appetize is like baseball size. I usually can finish appetizer and a main course by myself but I can't this time. Chicken Parmesan can feed a small Italian village. The tomato sauce they have is ok to me, taste like something you can get from the store. Maybe not enough herd or garlic, just not enough depth. I definitely will come back though; pizza and other pasta dishes look good.

Such an amazing visit for my first time at Tony D's…read more First things first, it was super easy to make reservations. The restaurant checked in 24 hours prior to confirm. The parking was good-the lot was scraped well and easy to navigate, an added bonus for someone not used to traveling in snowy conditions. My party of 4 arrived and was immediately sat. The hostess checked out coats (great provision). Our waiter was really knowledgeable and friendly-the perfect balance of checking in without us feeling awkward. We ordered and our food arrived quickly. The chicken parm was great-well seasoned and I loved the basil sauce on top. There was pasta included which I could have easily done without-the chicken was the star of the meal. The space is great for intimate dinners as well as large groups. The atmosphere is very balanced in that way. I would definitely visit again if I'm in the area.
