Went here with my son and 3 of his friends for his birthday. They had a blast. I have to say it's a little spendy, I wouldn't come here every weekend, but once in a while isn't so bad. The good thing is they almost always have a Groupon so you can save a little $$$ using that. The kids got 10 laps around and really had a good time. That obvious isn't take that much time so they spent a lot of time at the arcade as well. They have a pretty decent arcade! Lots of fun games and some of them give tickets to collect prizes. Also I saw there was a pool table, but we didn't play today. Thought it cool they had it though. The girl up front was really friendly and welcoming and doing a great job considering it looked like she was doing 3 or 4 things at the same time! She was hustling for sure! I'd say the customer service was good. All in all it was a fun and different way to spend his birthday and him and his friends had a good time and that's really what the point is. Long wait in line just to be told that I need to get out of line to register on a computer and then get back on line to register for a race. Only one worker to assist. I called in advanced and there was to information on this process provided to me. This process can be streamlined so easily. And if you get a Groupon you still are expected to pay for additional fees when you arrive. read more

So disappointed. I had family in from out of town and they wanted to go to Pole Position and race go-karts. There were 5 of us, two members of our group were a 16 and 14 year old girls who had never been here before or raced. I made reservations ahead of time. Check in was very easy and it was really crowded for a Sunday morning. All was going great until it was time to race. There were two parties before us, all who were able to race together. However when it came to our group of 5, the staff ended up putting two men in our group who were serious racers with their own helmets and gloves. During the race (and I have raced go-karts before and our group was going at a good pace - we weren't slow) one of the men was going so fast he spun out the 14 year old and then went on to take out my brother. They also lapped our group twice and ended up calling the race and telling us, "Well, you got in your 15 laps." Um, no we didn't, those men were not part of our group. So we ended up paying for a full race that we never got to finish and the girls were a bit freaked out to say the least My caution to you is if you make a group reservation, make sure your group gets to go by themselves. The groups before us had 5 and 6 people and got to race by themselves; not sure why it was OK for them to put the to serious racers in our group. Or at least ASK - I would have said no due to the fact we don't frequent Pole Position and are not serious competitors. An expensive and frustrating experience. This will be my last time at Pole Position. I hope other patrons don't have the same experience as I'm sure it could be a lot of fun. read more

Where do I start... We are in from out of town. Thoughts this would be fun since we have been to other pole position racetracks and do league racing for K1 speed. For starts, they are so unorganized. Telling people 1 hour for race then rushing them in 10 minutes later. 2) putting adult drivers with JR drivers. My 16 year old was excited to get some speed laps in and got thrown in with a family and was basically put at a JR speed. Complete waste of $85!!! Again, we don't live in Iowa.... So I guess you don't have a choice. But, if you ever go ANYWHERE... go to any other race place. It will be 100% better!!! read more

Great karts and great service. Employees did well at running new drivers through karting basics and efficiently ran the races. The telemetry is nice as well at the end of each race and enhances the overall experience! Highly recommend, great place to go with friends, even if they have no interest in racing/driving/karting or whatever. We came here with a rather large group for my sons bday. Thankfully we didn't buy more laps. We waited almost 1 hour to race because some people who were late for their reservations got to cut the line. My personal opinion is that if you missed your reservation time then you're shit out of luck. I don't understand why no one mentioned it to us or anything until I went and asked. It's sad that this is how service is here but maybe owners can learn a thing or two from paying customers. They could have easily made more money tonight from our group but with that kind of favoritism, I don't see myself returning here. read more

Honestly if i could give this zero stars i would, go to skyzone instead. The owner here is very rude, disrespectful and uncaring. It clearly states no bumping but yet the guy in my race not only spun me out once but then put his buddy into a wall that made us crash. I now have to go get a xray on my hand because of how swollen it is and all mark could say was it happens...for fuck sake they are not even sanitizing shit for covid-19. Horrible! Advertised Omniverse, a virtual reality game, for a discount on Halloween, stood in line, paid over $60, waited some more only to be told they are short staffed and had to refund our money. You guessed it...waited some more for the refund. We had to hunt for the manager, who gave us attitude that he had to walk to the register to provide the refund. Wish I could give 6 stars. I have races over one hundred times here and have yet to have a negative experience. Very kind staff that will give you racing tips. Also got my own helmet from there and it is cool looking and very high quality.If you area youth are someone in your family is I recommend the carting academy. Very fun and significantly helped get my time down. If it's your kids first time I recommend putting them in the junior car even if the are tall enough for the standard carts. They go very fast so there is a learning curve. Love it here and always look forward to my visits read more

We did our team event here and we had a great time! we rented the private room and had jethro's catered in. Their event coordinator was great - super helpful. The go karts are fast and fun - every thing is nice and clean. They did a nice job keeping everyone engaged even while they waited. Would definitely come back here for some family fun! read more

In what had become a semi-annual event, I have visited MB2 a half dozen times with a group of 8-10. Every time, I have called in to inform them and ask about known conflicts. Every time, we have faced minimal wait. It isn't the cheapest, but the Groupon makes it reasonably affordable. We run 3 14 lap races and spend around 2 hours there whilst doing so. I've started to go alone on occasion and really like building my score. They have changed up the track a few times which keeps it interesting. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! Giant scam!! My group had 4 people and all had gift cards to use here. We were all excited and knew we would have to wait a bit though it was NEVER told that would would be waiting over 2 hours to get called. On top of the long wait we noticed that the employees were calling numbers of people that should have been after our races. When we tried to address the confusion of why our numbers had been skipped we were lied to saying we were the next race then a family was called to race before us. We tried to get a refund as we realized we would not get a to race with 20 minutes until they closed. The guy at the register said he could not give us a refund. We asked for a manager and the cashier informed us he was "the owner". Don't know if i believe that because he did absolutely NOTHING to rectify the situation. If he is the owner he has NO customer service skills and will never receive our business again. We paid a total of $250 just to sit around for two hours!! Save your money and spend it somewhere they actually care that your experience is fun and enjoyable. read more

Very bad experience! Apparently the employees are allowed to race with the customers. Not fun when the employees have a speed advantage over the customers as well. And last the employee was hitting people into the walls. Do not recommend this place at all. read more

Great experience. My girlfriend and I went on a date here and had a blast. The karts are speedy and the course is fun. We got a groupon so it wasn't as expensive. The race lasts about 15-20 minutes. It's priced fairly but isn't something you could spend all day doing without the pass. read more

My mom thought it would be fun for us a group of 6 to go to this place. Terrible idea. After pre ordering our tickets which are insanely expensive so we opted to only do one race each. Our race was supposed to be at 5:35 we arrived ten minutes prior and was told am hour wait. Wrong again. Was told we would be squeezed in soon. Wrong. Wasted money on arcade to waste time which is probably the goal. Then when putting on helmets part of my shield was hanging off so I looked to my boyfriend for help and an employee stomps up to "help" without being asked to or offered to me and takes the shield smacks it into the side of the helmet (that is currently on my head) and then slams down the visor. Then we enter the carts and my boyfriend mentioned something to a different worker about gas powered go karts and is basically called stupid. I mentioned to maybe be nice to him because he is nice and he said, "It was just a joke." Then the races start and the employee yells at me and my little sister that we must have our foot over the brake pedal which i understand is smart however she goes on to tell us we were briefed for it and as she is yelling I inform her this is our first time racing and none of us were briefed at all. She then tells me to not yell and I informed her she was the one yelling first ( also not sure it was a she i didn't have my glasses on.) Then is constantly stopping the races or slowing our karts. An accident happened with one of our group members and my little sister took her helmet off because it was going to take awhile. I heard all the way from across the track them yell at her that she can't race if she doesn't put her helmet on ( which she suffers from extreme anxiety and feels claustrophobic a lot of times and putting the helmet on to race was a lot for her anyways especially if she's not even moving) and when she made a facial expression of confusion as to why she can't take it off while they are dealing with the crashes kart another employee tells her also to not make facial expressions. WHAT THE ACTUAL ****. Totally unacceptable behavior for every single staff member. They were plainly rude. Slowed my Kart down constantly for over a lap. Our whole experience should be refunded absolutely disgusting how we were treated. It is not something I would ever expect from a business that is supposed to sell fun (Which they ruined all opportunities for fun.) Literally had to make a yelp account for this place. read more

extremely unprofessional and untrained staff. my group of three spent over an hour in total just trying to get set up to race once. had a communication error with one employee that resulted in him giving us the wrong time for a race and we missed it (we waited over an hour for this). after missing that race, the same employee told us we could race immediately but he passed us on to another employee because his shift was over and he wanted to leave in the middle of getting us set up. second employee ignored us and we were forced to awkwardly stand at the counter for over a minute until he looked up from his computer to ask what we needed. he was nice, but told us it would be over another two hours to get in a race after we were just told we could right then. everything was extremely unorganized and we left disappointed without even getting near the track. this was barely even half of the issues we encountered with our visit. will not return to this establishment. read more

We had our sons 9th birthday party at MB2 in Grimes, April 2.. we decided to use Monday night, to avoid high traffic times, for our new drivers!! I purchased a 2nd race, which was crucial, because our first race was sloppy and full of mistakes and accidents.. The staff was knowledgable and taught them well.. The ability of the race director, to cut power to all cars with a button push, is genius!! The children all had a blast.. It is a little spendy.. We used a groupon for first race and additional races were 15$ per child.. Races were 9 laps each and the racers are ranked by their fastest lap out of 9.. Very smart!! The party room was nice and they had a nice variety of video arcade games and my sons favorite air hockey!! All in all, i would say this was a wonderful experience for my son and his friends, and have recommended MB2 to a number of friends already. read more

Looked like a fun place to have some family fun for our daughters 10th birthday. We went in signed up paid to race and were told to be back at 3:30, we left came back and then we're told our kids were bumped out of their race and we couldn't race for another 2 hours. Living 3 hours away we needed to leave and had to break our 5 kids hearts and end our trip on a bad note. Won't be returning or sending and friends to MB2. Major disappointment read more

We had a fun birthday party for my son. The staff was very friendly, although not very enthusiastic or interactive with the kids. I kind of had to track them down to figure out what was going on with the party schedule. Also, party package included a group photo (blurry) in a frame (paper), and a t-shirt for the birthday boy. Even though I requested my son's size, all they had was a child's small (way too small) or adult medium (way to big), so we basically got a shirt that fits no one in our family. The race itself was fun, but seemed pretty short. There was definitely time for a second race, which I think should be included in the party package. But, overall a good experience and the boys had fun. I used a discounted Groupon for this event, and definitely don't think it would be worth 2x+ the price I paid. For some of the disappointments, I would have been upset if I'd paid $300. read more

We had a group of 3 for my son's birthday. We arrived, paid, then were told it was a 45 minute wait. After waiting nearly an hour and a half, I asked the man running the races how much longer it would be. He informed me there was a group event going on. Nobody else told us this. They ended up squeezing us in in between the group event. But had I not said anything, we may have waited another hour or two! I'll never go here again. Great place for some fun and racing!!! I've been to several high speed go-kart tracks across the country and even done some actual nascar "solo driver" experiences so plenty of experience in offering a quality opinion. The front desk staff were great especially when the "groupon" stated something a little different than what they originally intended. They realized the issue and stuck to what was advertised. THANK YOU!!! The track operators were awesome in letting my small group that I took out the track to go separately because we wanted to go as fast as the cars could go without having the usual hangups that can occur with less experienced drivers on the course.
