The Speedway was where we went for the Rusty Wallace experience and driving. The staff at the gate were very kind and welcoming. We were easily directed to where we needed to go and found it quickly. The buildings were all clean and welcoming. The track was very cool to see up close. Ive had one other experience here years ago and still had the same positive experience. The Speedway does lots of events and not just racing. I think they are doing well in keeping things interesting. I hope to make it out for an actual race sometime in the near future. read more

It's a great track ran by NASCAR, but the repave patch work isn't something I'm a huge fan of. Solid facilities. The Love's Travel Stops outside the property isn't as friendly as it should be at all. read more

Can't re-scan tix for re-entry. Have to get hand stamped. Ridiculous bag search to get in. Not user friendly. No outside food, drink.

Great hospitality!! My first time here and I attended INDYCAR iowa300. It was a very hot day, but there were several free "cooling zones" for fans, which are small rooms with nice air conditioning. They helped me avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Free general parking was offered and it was not far away from the track. They only have one tunnel to go to infield- but since they had golf carts and shuttles that frequently ran, I did not have to walk so much in the sun. After the race a nice lady on a golf cart shuttle dropped me off right at my car in the parking lot. I appreciate their kind hospitality! The only disappointment was that water and soda are $4- they don't allow outside drinks (soft drink and alcohol, both) so everyone has to buy drinks inside. But charging so much for soft drinks discourage people to stay hydrated. I don't remember seeing a water fountain. To end this with a positive note- they do check your bags and have walk-through metal detectors at entrances. Great security measures! read more

I haven't been here before. My family and friends went to a concert of Volbeat, Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica. As a race track, this is probably great. For this event, I felt like it was unorganized. The way in seemed slow and 3 lanes are funneled into 1 Lane to park. They had plenty of bone heads standing around that they could have parked multiple lanes at a time. Now it was really hot with a heat index warning. Most places have water fountains at least. This place keeps you from water so you pay $4 for a small bottle of water and $7 for the larger variety. I would think this would be a public safety issue. Could there be a lawsuit waiting to happen, possibly. If someone can't leave and come back in, you are forced to stay. Most venues during a outdoor concert they will usually throw out bottles of water to the General Admission people dying in the pit. Not here. There wasn't much for security. You saw cops standing around but that is all or sitting in a cart. The speedway didn't have any security. There were people smoking in the stands and not just cigarettes. Pretty normal. Lot of adults that had way too much to drink. The way out was much worse than the mess coming in. They definitely should have more exits to disperse the crowd. The people in charge of the process must not come in as a guest to experience what we do. I really won't be back here. I wasted 4 hours in/out. That is terrible. read more

We have enjoyed Iowa's Place to Race since it opened. Over the years it has become more family oriented and we couldn't be happier.

We have attended many racing venues - this was our first experience at Iowa Speedway. Sorry for the length but there's several issues we feels fans should be aware of: We purchased the 2016 weekend Indy Car ticket package + camping. To our surprise we were charged an additional $30 in HANDLING FEES!!! We now tracks need to charge for handling and shipping of tickets but $30!!! Particularly when we requested that our tickets be held at Will Call - no postage needed. (BTW: Sadly they shipped them anyway) When we asked why the hidden fees we were told it was a $10 charge "per item" ordered. In our case 2 weekend ticket pkg. + camping = 3 items. Crazy. Later we received notice that Paddock Passes were available for Fri-Sat-Sun. To try the full experience we thought we'd go with the Friday paddock pass which at other Indy Car venues is when the teams practice w/cars on the track or at least the pits are set up. We spent an additional $60 for the two passes... When we went over to do the Fri. paddock we found that NOTHING was happening inside the track...absolute nothing. The event sheet didn't show anything either. Disgusted and hot (temps in the high 80s) we didn't see any reason to even go inside the venue - the track was vacant. Next day I spoke with the Director of Ticketing; who told me they would take the Friday paddock pass situation "into consideration for next year" but where did that leave us???? He didn't offer anything about how we could go about getting a refund since we were sold a product that was never provided. (We're on a fixed income and $60 a lot of money to us.) The venue didn't even provide we fans with anything for the price on Friday!!! It might as well have been a rain out. After prodding he reluctantly offered for us to go in the paddock for the final 2 hours of Sat, or perhaps Sun (race day). (We are in our 60s and can't take constant heat all day so that's why we selected Friday to begin with. We wanted to walk the paddock on Friday, cool off and enjoy the races on Sat and Sun. Not get sick walking around and sitting in the 90s for the entire race day. After all they don't permit you to bring in anything to stay cool except one sealed bottle of water. Not good in the 90 degree Iowa heat.) He then told us that he didn't have any authority to offer a refund even though we still had our tickets and even though the venue didn't provide anything for that day. Not very helpful or fan friendly. Hey, it's a nice track - we love short tracks - everyone working at Iowa Speedway was very friendly. However the administration of the track leaves a lot to be desired. Will we come back to Iowa Speedway? Not a chance. Other tracks (ISC-SMI-Privately Owned) are far more fan friendly - particularly if there's a ticketing problem - not Iowa Speedway. If you're considering attending a race at Iowa Speedway "Fan Beware" check everything out before coming. Don't assume things are handled the same as the other tracks - they definitely dance to a different drummer. read more
