This is the Poke Bar that's in the same complex as Yard House and Ruth Chris. We were at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and decided to walk across the street to try them out. I got the three item bowl (fresh ahi, salmon, baby scallops) on sushi rice and greens $19.90 plus avocado $1.75. It comes with a side. I got the miso imitation crab. For my mix ins I selected cucumber and edamame. For my three sauces I got house, spicy mayo and wasabi mayo. I loaded my bowl with toppings (crispy garlic, crispy onion, furikaki). The hubby got the two item bowl. My bowl was delicious. I could tell that the ingredients were very fresh. What was a little weird to me was that they gathered all the protein and mixed it with all three sauces. At other places they mix one protein with one sauce. I so wanted to give this place five stars until we sat down and eat the amazing delicious palette thriving exciting food... I hear two people talking fairly loudly next to me and I look over and it's two workers from this place and the manager is giving a review of the employees performance next to us and they're loud. The manager is reprimanding the employee by telling her that she's rude that she doesn't do this doesn't do that. The employee starts to cry, but the manager continues to lay in on this employee. It was really embarrassing for the store and as well as the poor girl was just being annihilated. She called her rude. She told her that she doesn't pay attention. She doesn't do this. She doesn't do that. And you can see the girl was visibly extremely upset, but yet this all took place out where people are sitting eating. I don't understand why you would do that with a customers and sitting next to us versus going in the back somewhere or going outside or somewhere where there's nobody around. The employees were standing there and they can hear it. It wasn't like they're whispering. I am like embarrassed for this place that they would even think that it's OK to perform a performance review in front of customers next to us. Whether the employee is not a good employer or not as irrelevant. Shame on the management for thinking that that was OK. You ruined your review with me even though your food is fantastic. After a long day of flying, we came to Poké Bar for dinner since it was just a short walk from our hotel and we were looking for something fast and healthy. Normally, when it comes to poke shops, I like to get one of their specialty combinations since I get easily overwhelmed by all the options if I need to build my own bowl from scratch. However, they only offered one house special which didn't exactly pique my interest, so I went with the full customization route. For $17.90, you can select two types of fish; I chose the spicy ahi and garlic shrimp, both of which were marked "house favorite" on the menu. In addition to seaweed salad, I included cucumber, onion, edamame, fried garlic, fried onion, furikake and their house sauce, all over a bed of rice and greens. In hindsight, I should have chosen the fresh ahi which was actual cubes of tuna, as opposed to the spicy ahi, which was all minced up and mixed with a spicy sauce. The spicy ahi tasted fine and had a medium kick to it, but the scoop was tiny, like melon-ball sized. In my photo, it is that small red-ish ball in the middle. The scoop of garlic shrimp (also all chopped up) was a little bigger, but small relative to other poke shops I've been to. Since this place is located in a touristy area, I wasn't surprised to face elevated costs, but these bowls were very overpriced in my opinion. The ingredients were fresh and the service was friendly, but there are definitely poke spots out there that will provide a better value. We chose this mainly out of convenience, and I unfortunately didn't leave completely satisfied. read more

I enjoy a lot of toppings with my poke bowl, but if you're a simple poke eater that only needs rice and fish, then this place will be too complicated for you. I ordered the two fish combo, where I was able to create my own bowl and pick all toppings that I enjoy. The bowl was very filling and every ingredient tasted fresh and of good quality. I enjoyed the crunchiness from the fried onion and bite from the edamame. There are a few seating options inside. Top notch poke near the beach! We visited Poke Bar as soon as we left the beach. The store was spotlessly clean and for such a small store, there were a small mob of worker in the front and the back. The sign made it easy to find... don't base it off of photos from Yelp/Google because someone posted an entrance photo across the street. Ordering food here was very simple and laid out for the average user. You first pick your rice size which has two sizes. Then you can pick your protein which they recommend 2 or 3. And every station was like this. They had all the options on the menu board so you didn't have to squint in front of you. The service here was friendly and approachable. Lots of fresh fish options and toppings. We shared a single bowl with three fish choices: fresh ahi, spicy ahi, and octopus. For the side, we picked the miso crab, which was really amazing. I love a poke bowl and this was no exception. Next time, I think I will pay the upcharge for all ahi because I didn't love the mixture of the fish textures (that's perhaps just me). I was famished after my flight and wanted something casual but healthy--poke always fits the bill in Waikiki. This little spot is right in the middle of the hotel scene. It's super casual where you order at the counter and find your own table, which is a nice break from the more formal sit down restaurants. The pleasant staff were quick in pulling together my poke bowl (spicy ahi, fresh ahi, "ocean salad" aka seaweed, lots of veggies, on brown rice).
