This spot is in a cool food hall near the waterfront and has great poke bowls. Everything was fresh, sauces were flavorful and staff was super nice. There were a good variety of typical toppings to choose from though not as extensive as some other poke places I've tried. Parking is in a lot by the park and there is a lot of seating outside to enjoy. If you want to try some simple poke options, this would be a great option. read more

Popped by the place in the middle of a road trip. They had a fair selection of protein and toppings to pick from. My friend and I did the build your own bowl. Since it was her bowl, she opted for the tuna, shrimp topped with an assortment of vegetables including house spices and sesame oil. At first I was a little hesitant with the sauce choices but it grew on me a few bites in. It tasted like what I imagine a dry seafood boil to taste like. Overall, service was solid. They guy managed to stack the bowl pretty high and was generous with coating the sauces (maybe a bit too generous). It's a simple stall with simple poke, not something I'd rave home about. I can't be 100% sure but I think this place gave me food poisoning. On top of that it just wasn't that good and the salmon was fishy tasting (that should have been a red flag not to eat it but I thought I'd be fine). We stopped at Banks Food Hall on our road trip and the location is great, right on the river. Parking was tight and there were so many people illegally parked. We found this place and instantly got in line. We got the small bowls and indeed they were small. The larger size gives you one more scoop of protein, but I do not believe the bowl itself is larger. That said, they had a good amount of toppings. I did not like that the crab salad was one of your proteins. Most other places include this on the toppings list. I did like that they had clear written out descriptions of the sauces. Also, since you are allowed 5 toppings, you can double up on toppings which count as 2. I was thoroughly unhappy with my visit to Poke Sun for the sole fact that I paid $21 for a poke bowl and a bottle of water and was hungry again 2 hours later. I understand that some of the ingredients are not cheap, but I at least need a large enough portion to hold hunger at bay more more than 4 hours. For the $16 poke bowl itself, it was pretty mediocre. Lunch time shenanigans! My coworker and I met up with a couple of other ladies from work. I decided upon Poke Sun on this particular sweltering day while the other ladies went with the inferior El Primo Taqueria next to it. (Just kidding! Much love.) I ordered a small spring mix bowl. It comes with two proteins and five toppings. You simply tell the employee what you want and they build the bowl in front of you. All ingredients appeared and seemed fresh. There's a description of the different type of sauces one can add to the bowl. In terms of price, the portions are definitely small. Due to this, I won't be back often. Poke Sun is located inside Banks Food Hall. You may dine inside or outside. Customer service at Poke Sun was okay. Nothing great or bad to really point out. Let me just start out with saying I'm SO excited a poke place is finally in Columbus, GA. I am giving 4 stars for the simple fact that they are probably the only consistent poke you'll find in the area AND because the poke bowl, although not true Hawaiian poke, was yummy and satisfied my poke craving. The downside- the price is OUTRAGEOUS for what you get. I paid just over $12 for a SMALL poke bowl and the portion size was absolutely small. Even the rice portion was minimum. Extremely disappointing. I got one scoop plain tuna and one scoop spicy (I've never had poke be minced?? Weird) on white rice with a variety of toppings. Again, everything tasted good. The staff is still training since they JUST opened, which is no big deal. Maybe that's why the portions are off? I'm not sure. Is it worth a try? Yes. Is it worth the price? Absolutely not. I had the large Poke bowl where my protein was tuna, octopus, and spicy tuna. I added things like cilantro and seaweed salad and cucumbers, finishing up with sesame oil and sesame seeds. Delicious! There are not a lot of places in my area for this sort of delight (mostly barbecue/soul food/fried food/fast food) So I cherish it and encourage everyone to patronize Banks food hall! read more

If I was just rating the food I'd give this a 3 star rating. It wasn't bad by any means but given the price it wasn't worth it. I was hungry too so I ate the whole bowl (got a large). I chose tuna for my protein and it was ok, but not much flavor. Rice was fine but nothing special, kind of the same for most of the ingredients. You get five other choices of toppings but they were out of the ginger pieces, seaweed salad, and the edamame (along with a few others). Those are typically some of my favorite components and again given the price and what I got, it seemed overvalued and I felt like I was eating just to eat, not to really enjoy or treat myself with something I typically love. I paid almost $20 for a large bowl in their portion sizes were extremely small when I asked for extra side of edamame they didn't even offer me an extra charge of one, and said that that was as much as i was allowed to put in my bowl. furthermore, i asked for soy sauce and he barely put any in the bowl, again. This place is less than stellar. It is way too over priced for what it is and for the amount of food you get. They give you such a small amount of fish that you can barely taste it. They really skimp on the toppings to include the ones you pay extra for. I ordered avocado and had to pay extra, which is fine, but if I'm paying extra please give me more than three small slivers. As for the rest of the sides you could give just a little bit more you're basically selling just rice bowls. This place will probably be better once they get their operating kinks worked out but for now I wouldn't head here if you're looking for a good meal. Visited Poke Sun in the Banks Food Hall today for the first time. The servers were super friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time, I was given verbal instructions on how to build my bowl. They also have an easy to read and pretty straightforward menu. I built a beautiful large bowl full of deliciousness that I will say was well worth the price I paid. In comparison when going to a sushi bar and getting one roll, you can sometimes pay the same price for one super fancy roll that you would for an entire bowl here at Poke Sun.
