This is my husband & my favorite poke place in Madison. Currently, they're housed within another restaurant though which can be confusing. They share a space with FEAST- Artisan Dumpling and Tea House. You can order off Poke Poke's menu while dining in or you can order online off their website and pick it up for take out (this is what we have always done but I do want to try FEAST sometime as it's a cool atmosphere/space). Poke Poke has a variety of meal options and you can either get one of their classic poke bowls or you can build your own. There's a great selection of add-ons and toppings to choose from as well as many proteins ranging from raw sushi grade salmon or tuna, to cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu, making it a great poke spot for people who don't want raw sushi grade fish. My husband and I have been getting this poke for years and his go to is the Classic Hawaii (with macadamia nuts removed). My go to is doing a Build Your Own Seafood Bowl. I always get the white rice (we did notice they got rid of the white rice & baby spinach option which I loved), sushi grade salmon, and then a lot of the veggies and toppings. I always get the shoyu sauce which has great flavor and sometimes I also add the chili mayo sauce too. You can't go wrong building your own and it's such a nice mix of fresh vibrant foods. Lastly, when you order online you can choose a pick-up time or choose "ASAP" which is 15-20 min. Unfortunately, last night I chose "ASAP" and when my husband got there at the time they said, he had to still wait an additional 15-20 min. This happens that we have to wait longer about 1/2 the time so just allow for that. Again, this is our favorite poke place in Madison, providing great quality foods packed with flavor! We couldn't find this place until we called the restaurant and were told that this place is a part of Feast Artisan Dumpling restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful, trendy and has a nice, relaxing vibe. The Poke bowls are a part of the Artisan Dumpling menu, so you can also order other things on the menu. I ended up getting Big Frog bowl with purple rice, which is their vegan bowl. You can also make your own bowls. We ordered at the restaurant for a takeout and the food arrived pretty quickly. While the poke bowl wasn't exactly traditional, but it was delicious and so refreshing! The portion size is not too big either. I would highly recommend dinning in here. read more

Yummy yummy! This place is a go-to whenever my family comes to town. There's parking and outdoors seating. Great selection of toppings and a good amount of poke for what you pay. I would say the value is pretty on par if not better than other places. My mom is indecisive as always so we got literally every free topping and add in (pictured). It was pretty yummy and for it being every ingredient I would say the value is pretty amazing as well. The person making them helped us pick out the sauce as well! Truly the only thing that kinda annoys me is that you have to pay extra for avocado. For COVID times, there's only outdoor seating (two different tables) and it faces south so if you can snag a table you get plenty of sunshine! TLDR: an all around great poke place. Every meal I've had here, mostly takeout, has been fantastic. Wonderful fresh seafood served raw or cooked perfectly. The signature ocean feast is my favorite and so reasonable given the amount of amazing seafood you get. The other flavors, like the cabbage / ginger / cucumber really complement the richness of the seafood. And the variety of choices is just fantastic. I came here for lunch. There is plenty of parking out front which I was worried about originally given the busy intersection on John Nolen and Willy. They have outdoor and indoor seating which I believe is available. Their selection is wide compared to other poke places. They don't charge for seaweed, offer other meat selections like scallops, and have purple rice too! I'd say their selection of sauces are a little less of a variety than other places. If you select the regular, you can mix your meat choices. The decor is cute, but kind of random. Super easy to order - they offer premade ones and BYOB (build your own bowl). In terms of freshness, it was decent, although I do feel like other places offer a fresher taste. Based on their selection and serving size, I would come back here. read more

Delicious poke with large variety of toppings and great portions! Service was typical for fast casual-setting. I chose to order the "create your own poke". I selected brown rice, a mix of ahi tuna and salmon along with a variety of toppings (a few highlights of toppings I haven't seen at other local poke shops included pickled radish, tobiko). Avocado cost extra but my order literally came with half of an avocado on top of my poke, so I ended up sharing some of my avocado with my family members who didn't order avocado. For sauce, I chose the wasabi mayo sauce and chose to have it on the side so I could dress my poke to taste. I was really impressed by the poke bowl - fresh ingredients, good value for portion size, delicious sauce. They also have a great self-serve condiment bar (including wasabi, white and pink ginger, selection of furikake [japanese rice seasoning]) as well as complimentary self-serve beverages (tea and lemon-infused water -- though of note, there was no water available when we visited due to issues with water pipes according to the owner, so he offered us complimentary bottled water). read more

New poke spot in the downtown/east side of Madison? I definitely had to stop by! I completed my order online for carry out, after work. The website was easy to use and had to option to link to FB--so why not? Especially since the site offers a free bowl after ordering 10 times through the site. The site gives you the option to pick up as early as the next 15-20 minutes. I ordered two custom bowls, a large for the Hubs and regular for myself, and opted to pay in store. I arrived 15 minutes after ordering. Parking was probably the worse part of this experience. The lot is small and shared with several other businesses. I parked around the corner, across from Wah Kee. A young lady greeted me and had my order ready to go. She was nice, and we chatted quick about how business is and the parking. She said it was probably due to the CrossFit classes occurring during this time. I'm here thinking, what a great place for these CrossFit'ers to eat! Decor was basic, but tables and chairs were plenty! Poke bowls were delicious! Vegetables and protein were fresh, and plenty. The fruit (mango and pineapple), however, seemed like they might have been canned. The other flaw was that my regular sized bowl didn't leave much room for me to mix ingredients/flavors. My favorite poke spot in Madison. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and they will cater to all your requests. If you want something, or everything on the side they can do that too. Extra kicking wasabi dressing andthey will make that for you with a smile. The regular size bowl is definitely a large meal or enough to enjoy some for later. Parking can get tricky some times but it always works out. Make sure to get the rice puffs to add a crunchy texture to you bowl. Try the pickled ginger to cleanse your palate, go for the natural color not the pink. And try something different every once in a while to see what you like best. Get on their rewards program and you will something free every once in a while. A Groupon got me in the door and I have been a regular customer ever since and have introduced other as well. Poke Poke is far from just OK. I love poke. I love sushi. I don't expect quality of either in Wisconsin. Poke Poke sets a new standard and it is a very high bar. I went on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Had the traditional Hawaiian bowl and it was the best thing I've eaten all summer long. Regular size is filling and I can eat a lot so I don't know what I would do with the large. Service was quick and friendly. If you've never had poke this is a great place to try it out. Very fresh. I should preface this by saying that I don't love poke. I went with a friend who does love it. We visited around 6:30 PM on a Wednesday night. Parking was sparse, but the restaurant wasn't crowded. Service was fast and friendly. (Many people stopped in for takeout during our meal.) I built my own bowl (with tempura shrimp), and my friend had the signature ocean feast. We both had the regular size bowl (not the large) and no drinks. The total was just under $30. The bowls were made to order with fresh ingredients. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. You pick up your own condiments and utensils. There was a water station that was stocked with small paper cups (like bathroom cups). The atmosphere was...eclectic. The decor was a mix of Asian and beach that just didn't work for me. I was left feeling underwhelmed. I know high quality, fresh ingredients are expensive, but $30 seemed expensive for dinner for two. A little extra something (like improved atmosphere or more attention to details in the experience) might have made for a more positive experience. read more

I've been to Poke Poke for lunch a couple of times so far. The poke is really good. They have a half dozen house creations or you can build your own. I start with a house creation and then slightly modify it. The ocean feast includes tuna, salmon, white tuna, scallops, shrimp, octopus, cabbage, onion, nori, ginger, and tobiko. I substitute brown rice and a lemon ginger sauce. So good! There are about ten different proteins including chicken for those who don't like seafood. You can choose from a dozen fruits and vegetables, another dozen toppings and a half dozen sauces. There are three types of rice or greens for the base. There are two sizes. It is completely customizable so you can get exactly what you want. It's an order at the counter and they deliver it to your table situation. Drinks are available near the counter. They also have a few sides and desserts your can order. The interior isn't impressive,but the staff are always very friendly and the food is fresh and so delicious! It's not cheap but it is really good! We'll definitely be going back. read more

This is my favorite meal in Madison right now... the signature ocean feast is wonderful. So many amazing flavors. Comes with five types of seafood but I always ask for no octopus and they will give me more of something else. I would eat this every other day if I could. The prices are reasonable and this filling meal is $20 if you leave a healthy tip, which I do because I love them and want them to stay in business forever. I tried this place for the first time last week. It's frustrating that most of the poke places are all right downtown (which means no parking!), but I just happened to be downtown during lunchtime AND Poke Poke is one of the only places with a free parking lot. Double win! I created my own bowl, and was very satisfied with what I got. I got both salmon and tuna in my bowl, and while they were quite good I love when places also have a pre-marinated tuna or salmon. Oh well. I used brown rice as a base and added carrots, cilantro, scallions, tobiko, edamame, and half an avocado. I wish the avocado had been fully cut and mixed into the bowl, but it was thinkly cut length-wise so it was very easy to just do it on my own. It's a very pricey add, but totally worth it. I finished my bowl off with shoyu and teriyaki sauces. I had been a bit worried that two sauces (you get to pick up to three) might be too much and drown the bowl, but it most certainly did not. In fact, next time I will make sure to add a second helping of one of them, as two was definitely not enough to really get a ton of flavor out of the sauces, especially over the fish. I even added a bit of soy sauce to the bowl when I got it home. I ordered the regular size, which is their middle size. The smallest one they had was called "bite size" which sounds far too small for me on a hungry lunch break. However, the regular is actually quite sizeable and the "bite size" would probably be a great size. My bowl was really expensive, but the portions were good and I would definitely return here. read more

I have been to pretty much every poke place in Madison and nothing compares to Poke Poke in terms of the selection of their ingredients and the overall freshness! They have some fun preset options, but also the build your own is very worthwhile. Go for a more fun rice like the purple one, its worth while and adds some fun color to your meal. The staff has always been super friendly and will give suggestions if you ask. Its also nice that they have mochi, especially the red bean. Although they are a little flatter than what I was used to. Not anything special but not horrible. Poke is my favorite food in the world, so maybe I'm just holding to a high standard. I live in Phoenix and regularly get Poke there. I was surprised to see only 2 poke places in the whole town of Madison. Not going to lie I was not impressed walking in. The cashier was not knowledgeable and told me he could not use my printed out Groupon, also charged me extra for seaweed salad when it was one of the included sides. All I said is "I like seaweed salad can you give me a decent amount in my bowl." I got a build your own. I was a little unimpressed at the quality of the appearance of the ingredients in the build your own items. I also was unimpressed at the amount you get for the price. I got the regular size bowl which was $10.99 which was sadly small and is more like an appetizer size. In Phoenix, I get a *small* order which is about twice the size and $2 less. The only redeeming factor was the quality of the food. I was worried about eating raw fish in Madison. The taste was great. Make sure to get the chili mayo. It is interesting that three new poké places opened in such a short span of time, and hopefully the hidden location of this place doesn't lead this one to disappear too quickly. It was deserted on a Friday night. We got ours to go, regular size, and the portions were quite large. We were both stuffed. Not quite as many topping nor sauce offerings as some of the other places - and kinda weird to have sweet corn as an option? We both got ahi, which was fresh and yummy, as were all of the toppings. I especially enjoyed the fresh shredded kale. The chili mayo wasn't very spicy, so we added more hot sauce when we got home. The lemon ginger sauce really overpowered the delicate flavor of the ahi, so I wouldn't get that again. Hands down my favorite poke place in Madison. It seems like poke places are popping up all around Madison as of lately and I've tried most of them. Poke poke blows the other places out of the water. The ingredients are quality and incredibly fresh. They make their own spicy mayo and it's incredible. The Hawaii green (I think that's the name) is my favorite- the crunchy onion string topping combine well with the mayo and jalapeños to form a flavorful kick. I went to Poke Poke for the first time this week. I thought it was excellent, better than many of the popular places I've gone for poke on the big island. I'm a minimalist and don't really like mayo based sauces on my poke. Their classic Hawaiin poke was fantastic. My father had the ocean feast bowl which was also excellent and gave me a taste for their sauced bowls. It was very well done too. The ingredients were high quality and fresh. best Poké in Madison, dare I say I've made my rounds through town and Poke Poke is consistently the best. They have the largest selection of raw fish options for B-Y-O and every time has been fresh and tasty.
