    Oh yeah! Great bowl! 11.14.24

11.14.24 I used to meet my youngest daughter here for lunch when I was in the area. She no longer works in The Woodlands area. I sit stop here by myself and have lunch. The bowls here are very good. I brought my oldest daughter here for lunch. She said it was so good! Great bowls! Of course you know I will return when I am in the area.

Best lunch date! Take the easy way and select from the menu options! If you build your own bowl make sure you know what you want... employees look a tad annoyed. Small space seating. Popular place for those who know it's there!

A great poke experience. I like that the pricing included all the various sides and toppings vs having to be up charged for avocado or other salads. The tuna tasted fresh and a nice bounce to it, the side of vegetables and salads were a good helping had a variety of sauce you could choose from. I'm finding that poke is not a cheap meal in 2025. The staff of friendly and being able to create your own Poké balls I felt like the helpings were on point with the price very clean facility in inviting atmosphere and kind staff. Clean facility a couple of tables for outdoor sitting, which probably wouldn't be ideal from June to August in the Woodlands area. Parking directly in front of the restaurant might be tough, although it does share a very large parking lot to the side in front of Burlington Coat Factory. Would recommend and if I'm back in the Woodlands and I'm looking for poke I would stop at this place again Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.

Hands down my favorite poke place between Spring and Conroe. Amazing fresh fish and generous portions, all for a great price. Some poke places try to give you the bare minimum in toppings, but you'll leave poke chef with what feels like a brick in your hand. Sometimes I'm able to stretch my poke into a second meal! This place is awesome for a fresh meal after shopping or working out (it's located right across from the Woodlands mall and 24-hr fitness). There is some seating indoors with a few tables, but I generally just take my food to-go!

Why 5 stars? Because this is my favorite poke spot in the area. --- --- --- Full disclosure: It's possible that I have not had any other poke in the area, but I enjoyed everything about my experience here that it's now my favorite by default. I can't really think of anything I didn't like about my experience. The only thing that comes to mind if not specific to Poke Chef, but is more about poke places in general. When you get wasabi, I wish they would just heavily mix it into the bowl, rather than you having to carefully dip each bite into the dab of wasabi in the corner. I understand it's probably risky if it's not very thinly distributed and you get an unsuspecting lump of it, but I'm willing to roll that dice Anyway, back to Poke Chef. They have alternative protein options like steak and eel, so I ordered a large (3 proteins) and went with those two plus ahi tuna. I piled it high with about as many toppings as would fit in the bowl and topped it off with a mango juice. All of it was great and I will happily return again.

I had very high expectations for this restaurant after seeing all of the positive reviews online…read moreand learning that it had been recognized by the James Beard Foundation. I genuinely wanted to give this place five stars, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing overall. When we first arrived, there was nobody at the front to greet or seat us, and we waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Service started off decent enough, but once our food arrived, it felt like we were completely forgotten. Nobody checked on our table afterward, we never received water refills, and our server was essentially unavailable for the rest of the meal. We were also seated next to an extremely loud party that was yelling throughout dinner. We wanted to request another table because it was disrupting the experience, but our server never returned to our section, so we never had the opportunity to ask. For a restaurant that presents itself as high caliber, I was surprised that management allowed such a disruptive atmosphere to continue. As for the food, the BBQ Pork Buns and Siu Mai were both very good. The award-winning Beef Rendang was easily the highlight of the meal and the best dish we ordered. Unfortunately, the Mee Goreng and Malaysian Fried Rice were major disappointments. Both dishes had an unpleasant smell and lacked flavor or seasoning, making them very unappetizing. Another issue was finding a bug on our table during dinner. I understand things can happen, but combined with everything else, it added to an already frustrating experience. We even wanted additional napkins, but again, our server never came back to check on us. Eventually, we became so frustrated waiting for service that we got up and paid the bill ourselves. Ironically, that was the moment our server finally reappeared. To make matters worse, gratuity appeared to already be added to the bill, which honestly did not feel deserved given the level of service we received. Overall, the BBQ Pork Buns and Beef Rendang were the only parts of the experience that saved the meal for us. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great ambiance, which made us even more excited to try it. Unfortunately, the poor service and inconsistent food quality overshadowed what could have been a much better dining experience.

It was our first time and she helped us with the menu and was tentative. The food was good. We had spicy edemame (it was spicy), gyoza, and chicken bites. Ramen, Bento boxes and rabota.. I judge most, if not all ramen shops by how well their tonkutsu presents itself.. and well.. this place scored a lot lower than what I had hoped. The broth, while the traditional white in color was woefully lacking in umami and left a lot to be desired. The ramen noodles were oddly soft without the expected "chew" factor one would expect. Rather it was questionably soft and almost had a "slime"? sensation at the back of the mouth. The ribeye robata...regular and the honey miso glazed version was also lacking in flavor. I tried to hope that maybe the grill flavor would add some depth and salvage the already bland flavor of the cut.. it sadly did not. I got as finishing at least half the ramen (chashu, corn, seaweed and green onions as well as a couple of bites of the noodles). MAYBE I will come back some time later in the future should my patient roster bring me back this way.. but for now.. I would rate this place as more of a maybe than an actual foodie destination.
