I had to walk through cigarette smoke to get into the front door. Then the man who was smoking ran in, did not wash his hands, and made my food. I asked if he was the owner, and he said he was. I asked if he always smoked in front of his restaurant. He said he does if he wants too. The food could be the of the freshest quality, but when the owner can't even wash his hands, and how is the young staff's sanitation practices? What do they do after they take a dump? Do they wash? Why would they when the owner does not practice good sanitation practices. I told him to keep the food I did not want it. He got pissed, I mean really pissed off. At POKI AVE the portion sizes are quite large in my between! I couldn't even finish a regular bowl, I had to save half for dinner! They have a large variety of toppings, ranging from pineapples to the typical crabmeat! I love how we get one of each topping rather than picking only three toppings like other poke places! The fish is fresh and delicious! The serving sizes for the fish is great too! I chose the salmon, spicy salmon and albacore and it was a great mixture! I really enjoyed Poke Ave and was so happy to have another food place to choose from after my kids get done with their after school classes. But.. The owner (I assume because he's there often and would probably make any chain smoking patrons leave) should have some consideration to the other establishments and patrons especially if kids are constantly walking through to get to their classes. Not only does he smoke in front of his shop and clear his throat by spitting but he walks throughout the plaza when he has customers so we all get to breathe in the smoke.
