    macarons

Picked up a box of 6 macarons and I tried the salted caramel and red velvet macarons. They were nice, chewy, and not too sweet. I think the salted caramel should have a bit more salt as it was more sweet than salty. I got 4 canneles for my friend and she enjoyed it.

Because of covid, I haven't had the opportunity to visit Montreal. I've been missing their macaron. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago while catching up with a friend living in Montreal who shared with me that they actually ship to Ontario too! The time I found out this news, they had a promotion where it's $16 for 12 of the same flavour! At the time of my order, it was free shipping with purchases over $55. I immediately ordered 4 packs to tie me over until spring when I can finally visit in person. At the time of the order, I was advised my order will be dispatched on Tuesday (I ordered on a Friday, so it didn't matter to me). Monday was the crazy snow storm in Toronto and pretty much our whole city was shut down. Businesses were closed, Canada Post was not in operations, bus cancellations, cars on the highway came to a full stop, people stuck on the roads stranded for 10 hours plus and nobody can go anywhere... From what my friend told me, conditions weren't much better in Montreal. My order still managed to get out on Tuesday and I was kept up to date on the status of my order and received it on Wednesday! Delivery was super fast and the packaging was great! There was also a huge FRAGILE sticker in red to ensure the package was handled with care. The four flavours I ordered were creme brulee, strawberry champagne, pistachio and caramel seasalt. Aside from creme brulee that came in a little crummy, the other 3 packs were flawless. It's great they are shipping outside of Quebec so others across Canada can enjoy their products too!!

So good!! This is probably the best macaroons I had in Montreal and Toronto. The shell is so thin. The filling is not too sweet and the flavour is intense! $10 for 6. This is a bargain!! 21 flavours to choose from. They are all so pretty and it was just so hard to pick 6. If I would have know how good they are, I would just take all home! The packaging is really secure and safe for travelling. None of them were crashed during my trip and still in perfect condition when I took them home. Point G! You are perfect!

I heard many good things about this place. It's a tiny shop with beautiful decors. Macaroons are one of my favorite delights. Finally, I was excited to try this place. Since it is a small place; we were allowed two person at a time, therefore the wait time was little long. The moment we were in; there were an abundance types of macaroons. We decided to order a dozen of macaroons; and we asked to pack their bestsellers. Each macaroons were heavenly sweet treats. They were perfectly made; their flavors were bursting of fruits and flowers plus freshness. Recommended!

It isn't a bold statement when I say they make the best macarons I've had in Canada (I've sampled many across the provinces). Their products are fresh, airy, and come in many flavors including seasonal creations. My personal favorites are red velvet, creme brulee, lime and lemon flavors. They are also inexpensive at CAD $1.50 apiece! I make 2 to 3 super short business trips to Montreal each year and make time to visit this boutique no matter how little time i have! They come in presentable boxes so they make great souvenirs too!

Left to right: chai latte, pistachio, crème brûlée, raspberry, raspberry litchi, and poppy flower

Now having gone, I'm confused. I really don't understand all of the hype for Point G. I had been hearing how these are the best macarons in Montreal, some of the best macarons you can find period, and so many reviews that co-sign that. Taste is too sweet, filling and cookie textures are wrong... I don't get it. What's the hype about? Two of my box of six are okay, but I've have better on several counts...taste, cookie texture, filling--in any one of, or all three of, those areas - you can find better macarons. And for a better price, at that. I will say, I have no issue with the service. The girl who assisted me was sweet and helpful, answered my questions about flavors, and packed a helpful key in the box to distinguish what macarons were in the box once they were home. Individual flavor breakdown: Chai Latte: This one has a very autumnal flavor. Tastes brings to mind crisp leaves and cinnamon brooms. It's subtle at first then intensifies and becomes a richer flavor, almost like a rich caramel or hint of dark chocolate. Too sweet, too loud of a flavor. I prefer the subtle initial flavor. Pistachio: My favorite. Among this box, this one is good. The texture of the cookie and the filling both seemed to be better with this macaron, and the flavor is not overwhelming or artificial. Sweet, but not too sweet, and is pistachio without tasting like fake pistachio flavoring. Has a nice pistachio taste. This macaron feels much more balanced and I would get this one again...but given the other flavors in the box I don't think that I would go out of my way to come back just for this macaron. If I happened to be on this street I might stop in a get a couple of their pistachio, but even then I don't feel moved to come running back to this store. Crème brûlée- This cookie seemed extra soft. Don't love that. The taste was bold though, tasted very loudly of caramelized sugar - more subtle at first then overwhelmingly so, more intensely than actual crème brûlée itself. But they got the overall flavor of crème brûlée pretty well, I would just make it more subtle and the flavor of this one at least would be quite good. Textures still not ideal for a macaron overall. Raspberry- Smells like wine, so I expected a wine taste. Tastes like red licorice initially with a deep raspberry jam aftertaste that develops. Very fruity. The texture of the filling is very jammy. If you like jams, you would like this one. For me, the textures of the filling and the cookie are too gloopy/sticky and too soft respectively. Rasp litchi - I wouldn't have clocked this as raspberry necessarily, or certainly litchi at all. Sweet flavor like some sort of candy I can't put my finger on, with an aftertaste like banana. I would think strawberry banana before ever thinking this is raspberry litchi. Poppy Flower - I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but the name and vibrant color intrigued me. I'm not a fan of floral flavors generally and figured this may well be floral, but took my chances. Upon tasting it, it has no floral note at all and tastes like red candy...cherry balls and Swedish Fish come to mind. At first I wondered if maybe they mixed up and grabbed a cherry instead of the poppy flower, but no - the cerise macaron is a much deeper color, a darker shade of red. The poppy is vibrant, and apparently tastes like cherry candy...but I'm not mad at it. It is unexpected. Pistachio is my favorite among this box, but the poppy flower is a distant second to that and the only other flavor in the box I would eat again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek it out.

Had to cut the container because the lady would not split our macaroons in separate boxes.

It was our first time in Montreal, and we were out and about looking for things to bring back to New York. As we entered the store we were greeted by the staff very kindly. It was a little off putting when we saw the staff unwrap plastic packages and place them into the display case (they are not made fresh on the premises). There was a little bit of an issue when selecting the quantity we wanted. The pricing was 12 macaroons for $19, we asked if we could get 6 and 6 in separate boxes, and the lady said that could not be done. Ok, strange.. (6 macaroons were $12, and that wouldn't make sense to pay for if we were getting 12 total) The lady there was very nice when helping us select our macaroons. When we purchased the macaroons, we tried to ask if we could get an empty box because we were splitting the macaroons to bring home, and she said "we do not sell the boxes".. We were really disappointed because we traveled so far, and these were gifts for our family, and she wouldn't even give us an empty box... The taste of the macaroons were nice, but were will probably not return again because of this issue.

Great place for Macarons!! Quality 10/10. Taste 10/10. The best part is that they are beautiful to look at!! We got $10 for 6! Definitely one of the best in Montreal!

    BEST CUSTARD TARTS in Montreal!

I hope I have this right, since I took a picture of the Point G sign and the tasty custard tarts that they sell in front of their store for less than $2.00. They are located inside the farmers market and were a welcome surprise to my Montreal trip. Best custard tarts outside of San Francisco's Chinatown by far!

They offer so many different flavors [21 to be exact], although not the absolute best I've ever had [but it may be because I've tried so many around the world], they are really good and definitely in the top 5. The price is extremely reasonable for authentic macarons. I got a box of 12 for $18CAD. Most places in the states with half decent macarons go for $25USD a dozen, and the famous Laudree in Paris is about $32+. So it is a great deal. When it comes to macarons, pistachio flavor is my favorite (if done correctly) and will get it at every place I try, however this place unfortunately did not quite hit the mark on that.. My husband did very much enjoy the Exotic which was a mango flavor. He said it was his favorite out of all we've tried, also the Framboise [raspberry].

We stopped into this shop front, but to actually eat the macarons, we bought them in the Jean-Talon market. The flavor range is very large. They had lots of combinations I hadn't seen often before like chai, lime-pineapple, and creme brûlée. Price wise they are the usual expensive price of macrons. However the fault for me was how soft they were. They had none of the crunch of the outer shell like they should it was soft all the way through. I'm not sure what better options are around in Montreal but if I had more time I'd want to search for them.

I purchased a box of 6 macaroons : pina colada, blueberry, passion fruit, and three others I forgot the flavor of (but you can refer to my pic I took!). The fruity ones were a bit too sweet for my but the texture was just perfect. There are samples of some provided at the counter to give you an idea of how good it is. I definitely which I got the chocolate based flavors instead as they were much tastier. This is perfect for a small gift as they but it in cute packaging. Besides macaroons, they also sell hard candy with shapes of animals. Unfortunately, I didn't end up trying but I wish I did. The employees there were very friendly! Since we were visiting from the states, it was comforting that they were willing to translate each flavor displayed for us (since everything was written in french).

The big Mont-Royal street market was happening today, so I was finally far enough north of the Metro station to take a peek in Point G. Glad I did. To say that Point G is a macaron joint is an understatement. They are a macaron gallery. Their creations are crafted with precision and care, bright colors, even gold and glittery accents. But that's just the half of it. The actual taste of these clouds of heaven is out of this world. The kind of flavor you want to chew slowly, to allow the textures to melt on your tongue and dissolve in your mouth for the ultimate existential experience. ...and I've only had two flavors lol (the baklava-inspired one and the peachy flowery one). Pacing myself with the remaining macarons in the box is gonna take some serious will power. Ahh whatever I'm gonna have one now!

They offer a variety of heavenly treats such as brownies, cookies, macarons and mostly known for their boule a beurre (butter balls) which is a quite unique concept. Every detail is well thought out and so satisfying to the eyes. Let's not think about calories for a moment ;-) I ordered 3 boules aux beurre: Red Velvet, Hazelnut/ Nutella & Celebration.
