The Webster area is infiltrated by greasy spoon restaurants. There are way too many dirty pizza and crappy burger joints, and getting tired of the same old we decided to give Point Breeze a try for lunch. We asked for a seat out on the deck. It doesn't make sense for guests being seated outside to walk through a gauntlet of dirty dishes and storage area. They really need to separate paying customers from a place used by waiters. The area could use Mr. Clean to be honest. The deck area was nice and the menu filled with lots of choices. The food rated a "B" and was actually better than we expected. Our order was taken promptly, however certain things were missing. The waiter forgot to bring sweetener for my iced tea after he said he would, and then totally disappeared. What became clear is Point Breeze was woefully understaffed the day we visited. A function inside clearly overwhelmed the staff. Our lunch from beginning to end took 75 minutes. What working person can take this long a lunch break? None is the answer. Find a way to get lunch done in 45 minutes maximum and I may return. Give the entire place a cleaning, and make the entry area to the deck more acceptable. None of this is too much to ask. read more

I need to warn anyone who would consider this place for a wedding. First off because of the weather we had to have it inside. But rather then accommodating us on the restaurant side they placed people right directly next to us. and you could hear them talking in our wedding video. Fine.... That wasn't the plan..... They only setup 1 buffet for 150 guests. It took an hour and a half to eat. They left the dowels in the wedding cake rather then taking them out! They BROKE MY ONE OF A KIND CAKE TOPPER THAT I HAD TO HAVE REMADE IN A STUDIO IN CALIFORNIA AND THEN THEY TOOK 2 YEARS TO PAY ME FOR IT. By the time we got to sit and eat it was cold but that is OK as we were doing the walk around thing. But i had reports of undercooked carrots undercooked everything. What a total embarrassment. So to you Fellow Yelpers.... AVOID this place... As far as a food experience we sat there one night for 2 hours waiting on food to come out prior to the wedding.... What we got was, unfortunately, exactly the opposite. We sat in the bar area and ordered 2 cups of chowder. The chowder was good, had a nice consistency, and a decent flavor. My girlfriend ordered the appetizer portion for the crab cakes. I ordered a Salmon dish served over penne pasta and a tomato, basil cream sauce. As soon as the crab cakes arrived, you could tell they were of the frozen variety. They looked like they were reheated in a pan, and tasted as such. I then tried my salmon entree, and it was tasteless. The pasta was overcooked and mushy, and the sauce was watery and also tasteless. There was no hint of basil. When my entree came out, the presentation was nice, so i remained hopeful. However, i was unable to eat more than 2 bites. The decor in the bar area is nice, however, the rest of the restaurant could use a makeover. It is very drab in the dining room, and is not very inviting. The outside deck overlooking Webster Lake is the only saving grace. I have been here many times before, and it was never this bad. I would probably return for cocktails on the deck, but I am reluctant to return for the food. At $16 for my entree, smaller portion sizes and fresh ingredients would go a long way for this place, hopefully they will realize this. The location is great, and with some decent food, this could be a gem. On a positive note, the server was very nice and apologetic, even though it had nothing to with her or her service. This place used to be good. It has a nice view if Webster Lake but with limited outdoor seating. My wife and I went there while they had two functions going on. While waiting for a table to open the waitress working the wedding were rushing back and forth complaining about food not being ready. After being seated we waited about fifteen minutes for our waitress to come over and ask us for our drinks. To make things quick all The food was over done fish and chips were dry. French fries were inedible stones. My wife's steak tips gravy tasted like they mention to cook one kind then switched the recipe halfway. All in all it took 2:20 min to get and eat our horrible meals. Our waitress kept disappearing and only asked if we wanted refills when she finally brought over the check Understaffed is an understatement. We reserved a table for 6 people on the porch. This was June 11, 2020. Yes, the pandemic was going on & typically people were not seated indoor. We made the reservation on the Monday; party was to be Thursday night, the 99th birthday of my dad. The night before, the forecast said heavy rain so we called them. We were told that accommodation could be made indoors if it was raining. So we come there from several locations for my dad's party. It is raining. We come in & wait in a take-out line. My dad is in a wheelchair with his veteran's hat. We finally get up to the host. We tell her " party of 6 for ..." She says you can't be seated. We tell her what we were told on the phone the night before. She says, if a party is outside eating & it starts raining, we can take them inside... But no reservations when it rains. We explain about the special occasion but she turns us away. This was my dad's choice to dine here. So my sister who had made the reservation tried to explain we can't stay to my dad. We ask for the manager. A woman comes out who doesn't identify herself & says there is nothing we can do. She also says she called us back last night. No call on our phone! So we leave. We were able to get a table under a big tent at 88's Restaurant near Indian Ranch. They treated us as if my dad was a king & we were all royalty. Wonderful service, wonderful food, other waitstaff congratulating my dad, it was beautiful! Later I did post on Facebook about this experience,& the owner of Point Breeze said very coldly that we should have known the state rules. We went by what the host on the phone told us. read more

Seven of us boated in for lunch and sat in the bar. The place itself is terrific. Clean, open and plenty of TVs to watch football. They are doing a ton of work outside to spruce the place up, it really will look great when done. No Keno...Keno is good....hint, hint. Our waitresses were always there for whatever we needed. We had like two or three during our meal, which was fine. The beer took a little longer than it should. Not a huge deal, but they should consider getting another bar tender for nice days on a busy weekend. The prices were surprisingly reasonable given the location. Get the fried scallops!! Just about the best that I've ever had. And add in their delicious clam chowder too...great meal. We also had fish and chip dinners, which the seagulls loved as our coolers went overboard trying to lose our tube riders. So much for the leftovers. By all accounts, it was a great meal as well. This is a great restaurant especially since it went under new management and the recent renovations also help. The food is good, it has a nice atmosphere and the staff is very nice. The back deck overlooking the new garden and lake is also quite beautiful. I never sat out there to eat but it's very popular and there's always a wait to sit outside. The number one reason I'm reviewing this restaurant though is because I got married there this past July and they exceeded my (and my husband's) expectations. They completed renovations on their back courtyard a week before, converting it from a gravel covered pit into a gorgeous garden. All of the staff were very accommodating helping us set-up as much (or as little) stuff as we needed. They really made us feel as though it was our special day and I felt like a celebrity with all the people in the restaurant watching our wedding ceremony. In the end I am very happy with the way our wedding turned out and with a smaller price tag than I had originally expected. All of our guests that I have spoken to since then said the food was better than they expected for a wedding. Their current prices are listed on their website, but it was the most reasonable price I found for a reception site. My father had his wedding here and it was beautiful. I hosted a birthday party here and was told there was no cover on the phone but asked for $20 a head because there was a live band the same night. Went Sunday evening and although a nice looking place the food was on the expensive side and looked to me more of the big plates of pasta to impress the stomach rather than a fine dinning. I can only comment on the looks because we never did get served dinner. We got there at 5:30 which I thought would be early and it was a light crowd yet we wait 5 min before being seated. Something odd about being the only people in the line. The drink order apps order, and dinner order went smoothly yet they already had no lobster, lobster stuffing, or scallops so that left out half the menu. So nobody was able to order what they wanted. Disappointed in the shortage we got our drinks and assumed that we might get some bread to tide us over. We did not get bread and at 6:30 with no apps served were able to flag down our waitress and she offered to bring out our salads first. We left. No apps, half a beer, and still hungry we ended up at Lake Pizza because The Lobster Nook is closed Sunday and Papa Gino's does not serve beer. read more

The only good thing about this place is the view if you sit outside. The place seems very dated and the food was not worth coming back for. Came here with family and had very slow service. I know it's supposed to be relaxing, but being there for a couple of hours plus is a little much. The food wasn't anything to recommend and everything took a long time to get. We didn't have ketchup and had to ask for it. After about 10 minutes, we just went to another table and asked someone if we could use it. We also asked for napkins and after another 10 minutes, just went up to the hostess and got them ourselves. We didn't even realize we were supposed to get bread while we waited for our food until we saw another group (seated after us) got bread to tide them over. First off My wedding day was approaching and I wanted to be able to come in and prepare but they told me last minute we couldn't because they had a big wedding and there was no time.. while silently freaking out ready to cry any minute (Auntie Gail) the hostess noticed and went to talk to the manager, to our surprise they gave us a private room and we could go the night before and decorate.. small wedding but they made this a spectacular event. I was so nervous and everyone was so attentive.. the waitstaff was Alexis and Tony took suck care of our family (guests). Growing up in Dudley, this place was a staple for family dinners, special events, weddings etc. Needless to say, I've been here many times. I'll start by saying that it's a beautiful place. The view of the lake is gorgeous, there is plenty of space, and it's pretty comfortable. The food is also pretty good. Last time I had the most delicious Grilled Salmon dish and my brother swears by the baked scallops. However, the service is 100% consistently AWFUL. No matter what day, time, month or how many people in your party- it's the worst. We wait forever for everything. If you have a lot of time and patience, and maybe some REALLY good conversation I recommend checking Point Breeze out. read more

Ok it could be higher. You really need to know what to order. The bride and I have choked down some poor food until we found the good stuff. Raw bar items are always super fresh and an excellent value at the bar. Get the shrimp cocktail. Best ever. Fried seafood, steaks, salads are very good. Soups are good and homemade. A huge peeve I have is the lack of baked potatoes. Fries or mashed butternut squash are it. They may have mashed and rice too. I just want a baked potato! How hard is it to toss a bunch in the oven in the morning? Atmosphere is nice with great service in the bar. It can be inconsistent in the main dining rooms. Hold your breath when you first walk in. The urine smell is terrible. Use the restrooms in bar area. They are spotless. read more

It's such a shame because this place could be fantastic considering the location but the waitstaff is just awful here and the food just meh. My wife and I have come here a few times and have never been overly impressed. The food takes forever and I always get the impression they're overwhelmed for some reason, even if it's not really busy. A-OK. That's what Yelp says when I pick three stars for a review. That's exactly how I felt about this place. We went on a Sunday to celebrate my Father In-Law's 70th birthday with a party of 12. We had a reservation at 2pm and I'll tell you, from the reviews I'd read prior to eating there, I had MY OWN reservations. I'm happy to say, I really liked it. The place was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. I'm sure it's more hopping earlier/later and when the weather is warmer and summery. The location is neat and there's a nice water view. We ordered a bunch of apps: mussels (very flavorful with tomatoes and garlic, also the portion was LARGE), clam cakes (not the best I've had, a bit heavy but still tasty), calamari (tender and very good). I ordered the lunch menu item of salmon with a tomato cream sauce. It was huge! It came with pasta (sweet, I love carbs) and I could barely make a dent in it after filling up on apps. I also had a cup of the clam chowder and it was tasty and had a salt-pork vibe going on in there. It could've used a tick more pepper (it was white as a ghost!). Our waiter was very sassy and I loved him for it. He chided my father in law for being the only one with a beverage not on his little drink napkin, saying "I hate water rings!" . (a howl of laughter came from our group...sass works for us). The beer list was short and sweet and I'm easy so when they said the Heffewizen was no longer an option I was happy to settle for some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It was a nice surprise that the glasses the beers come in were 20oz (if not more!). I really liked this place. Salads came one minute before meals, my wife asked for no onions and her salad was loaded with them, no crackers with clam chowder. Had to ask 3 times for artificial sweetener. Meals were cold, no refills on drinks. Complained to hostess who was sympathetic and actually gave us a $25 gift certificate. She mentioned that they had spoken to this particular waitress several times. We'd have loved to patronize this local summer spot over Memorial Day Weekend but we didn't make it past the hostess stand. We had moved into our new house that weekend and wanted to treat ourselves after the last piece of furniture was placed. I have been going to Point Breeze for over 20 years now. So I must like the place. I have seen the menu go from limited, to what it is today. It has improved overr the years. I have had a wedding reception, second to none, with Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing, with a choice of either Baked Haddock or Chicken Marcela, with an Ice Cream Raspberry flambé desert to die for. The banquet staff made it one of the most memorable days of my life. Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg or Webster Lake is a beautiful large lake in Massachusetts that is a great setting for any event, and if a photographer can't find a good spot for photographs, they're not worth hiring. I have seen the changes from what Point Breeze Restaurant was like 20 years ago, to what it is today, and it is so much nicer now, with major improvements to every part of the facility. Their food is usually perfect. I have never had a complaint. I have been with little children from high chairs all the way through high school, and college and I have never had a complaint. The wait staff is usually very good. I have only on occasion had slow service, and that was on an overly busy evening, there is room for improvement. I have probably had at least every item on the menu over the past few years. I love their Raw Bar Super Sampler, Calamari, Mussels, Lobster, Clam Chowder, Prime Rib (if you can get there before they run out) Jack Daniels Steak Tips, Filet Mignon, Salmon, Swordfish, and the list covers the entire menu. I have not had anything undesirable (except that one piece of chicken). Their entertainment evenings are some of the best times to have on the lake, regardless of what season it is. I recommend a reservation on any weekend night, and don't be surprised if the dining room is closed to the public when there are large functions (this doesn't happen very often), but the Lounge is always available. The food is five stars, the service is four. There is always room for improvement in everything, and I'm sure Point Breeze Restaurant will continue to improve with age like a fine wine. read more
