Unfortunately, this company is a SCAM. Their customer service is non-existent. We received our first POD last September 22 with broken top so our contents got flooded once the rainy season came in California. They told us to get movers to move our belonging to a new POD that they supplied and that we would be reimbursed (for both the moving expenses as well as the damaged items). That was 6 months ago. After dozens of hours on the phone and after 5 month of email correspondence submitting 6 different claim forms at various departments @ PODS (which is all a black box) we never received any refund. Do NOT everrrrrrr use PODS. They are a scam and I will fight tooth and nail for a refund. Everything went wrong from the very beginning til the very end of being OVERCHARGED!!! The promotion that they claim that "expires" is still going on now (1st lie told) but not a biggie. The rep asked me how much contents were in my home and we went over it in great detail (striking up a great conversation about how many pairs of shoes that I own) only to be quoted for their SMALLEST PODS. I gave the exact drop off and pick dates on this same call. I called to correct the issue only to find out the quote would go from $1100 to $1500 for the PODS that would hold my contents. Because of the mix up they offered me $1300 and I went with that. When the PODS actually arrived, it was still too small. I called AGAIN and spoke with the most intelligent agent that disclosed my home size of 1310sq feet is too large for any of the PODS and that a home size if 1000 sq feet would truly fit the PODS. Yet NO ONE that I spoke to everrrrrrrr mentioned this to me. At this point, I'm running outta time with my move. My drop off date was July 26th and my movers were scheduled to be there July 27th and I needed to be moved out by July 31st so time was of the essence. PODS now screws up my drop off date which was scheduled for Aug 17th...instead they tell me the earliest they can deliver is on the 21st. My work equipment was being stored in the PODS so I missed 4 days of work. When they delivered it on the 21st the door was jammed from my items shifting while in transit and was told that the soonest that someone could come out to help with the door would be the 24th so I'm out of work AGAIN!!!! Only to wake up today and be charged an additional $338!!! I failed to mention that no matter what time you call, no one will answer the phone and you will either sit on hold for forever OR put your number in rotation to be called back and that's usually hours later. Back in October, more than 2 weeks before the 9th of Sept, I tried to schedule a pickup/move of a POD cross country. The website didnt work, said there was an error and that i had to call in. So i did. Was on the phone more than an hour. The agent said she couldnt do it through thier computer systems either, so she had to submit a paper form, which she did. Told me it was scheduled for pickup on the 9th. No show on the 9th. I called that afternoon of the 9th and was told that the paperwork was filed, but they did something wrong, so it never got scheduled. New agent re-scheduled for the 11th. Said the schedule was at the back end team being "updated", and that i should call on the 10th to make sure all was good. Called on the 10th, no schedule was on the account. Agent looking into it said the schedule was at the back end team being "updated". No show on the 11th. Called back AGAIN afternoon of the 11th. He reached out to the Van Nuys office and talked to someone that said it was scheduled to be picked up on the 13th at 7:30am, and that i would get an email by end of Sunday with confirmation. No email Sunday. No show on the 13th (Monday). Called Monday morning. Nothing scheduled again. Agents telling me we need supervisors again, but none are availalble. She was trying. Now waiting for a call back within 30 minutes. Never got a call back. Drove to the Van Nuys distribution center, talked to a guy there that looked at my account. It still with the triage team. He has no way other way to contact anyone. There are pages of notes on my account, and yet, NOTHING is being done. I have been contact 0 times. I have now spent more than 6 hours on the phone with PODS, and have gotten NOWHERE. Called back Tuesday afternoon, close to closing time. Was talking to yet another agent when he decided he needed to transfer me to another dept...and they never picked up the phone. Waitied 30 min, then hung up as they were closed. Now im posting this everwhere i can. There doesnt seem to be any alternative other than to tell people not to use them. Ill start calling moving companies tomorrow. read more

Do not use this company! Worst customer service ever encountered. I will not go into the lengthy details, but they definitely do not stand behind their service. According to their website and reps, they bill 5 days prior to service, well they certainly billed me but then never moved my POD to the holding facility nearest my destination, where I was told I would have access to my belongings. I incurred an additional weeks hotel plus other expenses due to their mis-handling of my POD and their resolution to this was, first trying to charge me for expedited service (which they finally waived) then offering me a "customer care credit" of approximately 250.00. Moving is stressful but moving with pods is traumatic. I would never recommend you're horrible, untrustworthy services. You don't honor quotes, don't return phone or email contact, and added additional charges to my bill. I have been overcharged and multiple times it cost me a total of $7183.52. First, the fact that not only did they charge me for an entire month for the additional 7 days needed due to the closing being pushed back, but they also charged me the full rate and not the discounted rate that I was quoted. Second, the pod was put in the wrong location one block far away from my apartment. PODS should not say their service is "completely contactless" so no worry if you can't be there, in fact, it is completely contactless. The driver could put the container in whenever he wanted to put it. By the way, there was an empty place 10 feet away from my apartment. I filed a claim immediately, with pictures to illustrate the how far and how dangerous for the movers to pass through the street busy traffic. I was stuck paying movers to double the price and renting a truck from Uhaul for movers to unload POD and put it in a truck and move it to my home. Third, the whole point was to have a safe, onsite storage container to keep these dry all items. Unknowingly, the pod should had a leak so some personnel items and my rugs were ruined by mold. DO NOT USE PODS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A TIGHT MOVING SCHEDULE!! We live in DC and booked our PODs months in advance, even paid for emergency parking spaces and a street permit to make moving day as simple as possible. Day of the move we are told the POD should be arriving between 3 and 5:30pm, it was a bummer it was so late in the day but thats fine, we can manage. 5:30 comes and goes and no POD, we get a call from the driver saying they cannot deliver the POD until tomorrow AM, which doesn't work since our POD was scheduled to be picked up that day. To make matters worse, the pickup slot they gave us was for 7-10am, so they were planning to drop up and pick up the POD at the same time. After multiple calls with customer service they said they are simply going to have to move the dropoff date. Doesn't PODs realize how difficult/impossible it is to move your moveout day the day of the move because they can't get their act together? That people have legal contracts to vacate, street permits that expire, utilities that are going offline, and took time off work for the move? They don't care and will make you suffer for it. We had to cancel PODs and scramble to book a rental truck and find storage space the night before the move. PODs only made our already stressful move way more stressful and miserable than it had to be, we're never going to use them again. read more

The social media team answers and say they will put me in touch with the resolution team and then nothing happens. This last time I have waited since Oct 18th. But we have been waiting since June for them to answer us. After reading lots of great reviews on using PODS, we packed up our house in PA into Pods in April. Two PODs were scheduled to arrive on May 16, 2022 in CA. We flew to CA to receive the pods however only one POD arrived on the scheduled date. While waiting for the delivery driver of the second POD, I received a phone call that the POD will now be arriving on June 7, 22 days late. There is ample documentation in my account that the order was placed and confirmed to be delivered May 16. According to payment records online, PODS was aware that the second POD did not ship from the holding facility on May 5th. In the following 11 days, during multiple calls to confirm delivery and placement on the street, no agent every mentioned that the second POD never shipped. It seems unimaginable that your customer service agents could not see the location of the second POD and articulate the delay before delivery date. But more egregious: It took 17 days for you to reach out and offer an apology or attempt to to find a resolution. The agent on May 16th said someone from your dispute dept. would contact me within two days. Two days later,no one had contacted me. I called again on 5/19 and someone from tier 2 customer service told me they would contact me within 24 hours. No one contacted me. I called again on May 20th and was told someone would call me within two days. Again, no one contacted me. I called again on May 24th and was told someone would contact me within three days. Again, no one contacted me. I called again June 1st, and finally, two days later, you contacted me. You now state that it could take up to 30 days to find a resolution. We received an email from the resolution department on June 3rd saying they would look into it. Since then NOT A WORD! It is now OCTOBER. The delayed POD contained the bulk of my family's personal belongings and has rendered my new home unusable for 22 days. This has proved to be a major inconvenience and financial burden. We were forced to stay in a hotel with 3 kids and a dog as we had no furniture. The lack of any response, not even an email acknowledging the delay, is baffling. Even worse, PODS charged me a monthly rental fee on May 25 for the delayed POD.I realize now in hindsight that all the good reviews for PODS is for people who never had an issue. Once there is a problem customer service is non existent. Worst moving experience ever... and we have moved a lot. we have had the worst experience with PODS trying to rent a storage container. First, you can't speak with anyone by phone. I was on hold for an hour and 11 mins still no answer, after multiple " Thank you for calling." and disconnect. We only use the chat to communicate with them with no success with obtaining a solution. We repeatedly got reschedules everyday. I finally cancel and requested a refund. which is the only good thing about PODS they refund your funds quickly. after all the headache and chatting and canceled order with refunds. They finally delivery the container, which i refused. PODS has a major communicate issue , a lack of ways to communicate, lack of solutions to resolve nondeliveries. Our POD arrived on time, full of our stuff. We tried to open it. We couldn't. Went to the web page devoted to troubles opening the door. Nothing worked. We called PODS. After being on hold for a long time, we were assured that "The movers will know how to open it when they get there. Fingers crossed!" (We had hired movers from a company recommended by PODS). The movers came, and could only open it a few inches. They told us "This happens all the time. You need to have PODS come out and tilt the POD so whatever is pressing against it will fall back." So again we called PODS, went on hold for a very a long time, and then were assured that we would get a confirmation time of arrival Confirmation never came. I would rate this company negative stars if I could. We moved from Idaho to New Jersey and paid rent to PODS for 4 months until we were able to get into our house. We requested our POD to be delivered and instead they sent it to collections and they were going to auction off our POD. We spoke to someone to get this fixed and they stated that our POD would be delivered on Oct 26. POD was never received so we called to find out what was going on and they stated our account was locked and they can't do anything until their AR department calls us which could be 3-5 business days. This is not an acceptable solution. We have called multiple times and they keep saying that they have to email the department that we need to speak with and we need to wait for a call back. I am getting so frustrated because I just need my stuff and they are not willing to help. It's been 10 days since we requested our POD. I used PODS for a cross country move in 2020. I hired.movers to pack the POD and when it arrived everything looked good. Based on that experience I decided to use them again in July 2022 to move back across country. The PODS was packed meticulously with movers and myself. Strapping, bubble wrap, boxes, blankets etc. The man that ce to pick up the POD for final transport was late, smoking cigarettes, dirty, and rude. The POD arrived on due date and 70 percent of the contents were DEMOLISHED! Smashed very expensive mirrors, boxes destroyed, contents scattered inside the POD. Absolutely deplorable!. I called PODS and they referred to the insurance company endorsed but PODs. I sent very detailed pictures etc. The claim was denied due to there option that it was packed incorrectly. , which I don't understand because their whole concept is self.pack. Either way I appealed and was swiftly denied again. I paid 6,000 to PODS to move my belongings with the assurance of an insurance plan. I lost approximately 3 to 4 thousand dollars worth of my belongings! ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED! THIS POD WAS CLEARLY INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. A family member of mine is an insurance broker. PODS insurance asked.me for.pictures ofy DESTROYED PROPERTY, which I sent. I then asked them for pictures.of the.outside of my POD TO CHECK FOR DAMAGE. They refused. Bottom line, don't use PODS. I had a POD at my home with auto-renew, the date of renewal was 6/28/2024, I had it scheduled for pickup on 7/5/2024. This included a weekend and a holiday between the time they renewed my monthly amount and the date of delivery. I asked them if they pro-rate, and the answer was a resounding "no". I asked for a supervisor to ensure I was getting proper details and I was told they couldn't talk but was given information that if I called on 7/5/2024 after they picked up the unit I'd be credited 50% of the monthly cost and that detail was noted on my account. When calling to get my 50% back on 7/5/2024, not only was the information not noted on my account but I was told I'd have to pay the full amount. I will not do business with this company nor do I recommend anyone on the planet do business with them, companies like this need to fall into bankruptcy and disappear from consumer options. read more

Do not use them! One of my PODs is defective and the door will not open. I called customer service and the guy told me the wheels probably fell off its tracks, as if it is a normal occurrence. The couldn't contact the local office to send some one in to fix it. The supervisor told me they will call me back to let me know how soon they can send some one in... no call back. Today, I called again and they said they still have not been able to contact the local office but the soonest they can send someone is a few days later! She even admitted that they still have not gotten a response from the local office. They said if I damaged the container while trying to open it, I will be responsible and will not provide a refund for the defective container. There is NOTHING convenient about using PODS, their equipment is bad, and customer service even worse. I demand a full refund for the shotty equipment and need my POD opened ASAP. He walked me through the steps to confirm everything and made sure my documents were signed and everything was ready to go. I got the dates for every step, with my pod delivery date at my new apartment being 6/8. Flash forward a few days, my pod is filled AND picked up by the company. I then get a random email saying "Thank you for contacting us about your order. As you requested, your order has been updated." I never requested a change and thought that was odd - when I log in, it says my rental agreement needs to be signed. I assume this is just a mistake in their system and they were maybe updating that it was picked up and hit a wrong button. An hour later (which I don't see until the next day), I get an email (from an outbox that you cannot reply to and there is no contact info with) saying my ORDER HAS BEEN CANCELLED, WHILE THEY HAVE MY POD AND ALL OF MY THINGS CURRENTLY IN THEIR WAREHOUSE. I scramble to get on the phone with customer service and they tell me I'm missing my rental agreement and make me RE-SIGN the documents I already submitted a week ago. Because of this mistake on THEIR end, my pod delivery is now pushed to 6/9. Annoying, but not the end of the world. I drive down to Nashville on 6/4, expecting my things to be there 5 days later. Apparently, on my drive, I received another cryptic email with the EXACT same language that my requested change has been made. I don't see the email until I'm settled 2 days later. I log in, and what do I see? My deliver date has now moved to JUNE 21ST, 2 WEEKS AFTER IT WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED. I received no phone call. No explanation. No NOTHING. I, yet again, call customer service only to be told sorry, nothing we can do, and we don't have any notes in your account as to why this happened. They finally submit a deliver dispute and I'm told someone will call me in 48-72 hours. Long story short, I try calling later that week and every time the timeframe for someone to get back to me extends until it's 7-10 business days. As of about a week and a half later, I still had not gotten a single person reaching out to me or trying to help. I finally call again another few days later and was told someone has been assigned to my case and should be reaching out. I get asked to be sent to her phone, I of course get her voicemail and leave a message. Suddenly, 10 minutes later I have an email from her that they're currently looking into the case but it could take UP TO 30 OR MORE DAYS to have any kind of compensation figured out. She asks for any receipts of items I had to buy while I was missing all of my things, which I did not save (my mistake for sure) but now need to try and look up in all of my online accounts. I finally get my pod delivered on 6/21. I didn't book the pick-up date because I was not certain they wouldn't move this date again, so once I get the delivery timeframe, I log in to book the final pick-up of my pod. The soonest availability they have is 2 weeks later... past the 1 month retainer I'm given as part of this horrendous process. I book the date but call customer service AGAIN to ensure I will NOT be charged the extra month because I would have been within the month had they not pushed my delivery 2 weeks. I'm told I will not be charged. Well.... As of this morning, I was charged another $250 on top of the already paid $2100, and they are still not picking up my pod until 7/6. I called and left a voicemail with the woman who is supposed to be handling my account this morning and have not heard anything. I am angry and tired and frustrated, and this has been the single worst experience working with a company that I have ever had. I will never do business with them again and highly recommend you all do the same. They lie on their website with the reviews and they take advantage of people across the country. I cannot believe that a company this long standing can be this unorganized. We booked our POD more than a month out with confirmation. We did not receive it so we called multiple times trying to find out what was going on - by the way, expect 1hr45min waits each time. Each person assured is it would be there. The next day, we still had not received it so again calling customer service multiple times. The most they were willing to do is call the driver and leave a message. You are not allowed to speak with a supervisor. At 7pm the next evening we received a call stating that they will be there tomorrow. If I didn't have to wait on the phone for another 1hr45mins, I'd cancel. Lucky for them, they called my husband. read more

Then they picked up my POD and instead of delivering it to the destination, took it to a storage facility without even notifying us. We had to call them, and they absolutely refused to make it good. I told them that we took days off work and arranged multiple construction contractors and crews around the delivery. They didn't care. Told me it would arrive in four more days. No options. I put my possessions in storage with PODS starting in summer 2017. In October 2020 I collected everything from their storage facility in Oakland. My pod had been infested by mice. They ate through books, destroyed personal items, and left a sofa and a chair covered with feces. It's clear that PODS does no kind of pest control at all. PODS' reaction was basically a shrug. The insurance I paid for on my pod excludes "infestation," so my claim (I estimated over $1000 in damages) was rejected. They came and picked up my POD for the final time on July 9th. When I requested a proration for the days unused, I was told no, no prorated, no refund. I have moved more than 25 times in my life, and this is by far the worst moving experience ever. Even though I specifically told the agent I needed my items by a specific date and had my container leave my house on the day I specified, it never shipped to my state I was moving to, and to make matters worst, now it has been delayed an aditional 4 days because a form, that only showed up after I called to inquiry about the cancellation of my order, was not filled out. Please, please, do your research BEFORE using PODS. We were moving from Oregon to Virginia and did not know the exact address of the new home in Virginia. When I spoke with an associate for a quote, they said they needed a zip code of where I could be contacted while they had my POD. I made it clear that the zip code I provided WAS NOT our new location. The agent said 'No worries. We just need it to provide a quote.' We ended up buying a home in Virginia and contacted PODS to get ours delivered. I was then informed that since our POD was in Maryland they cannot deliver it to Virginia. Instead, I would have to pay $1700 to get it delivered from Baltimore, MD to Richmond, VA, and then to our home. The agent said "It's implied when you use the company." It's implied? What does that even mean? Uhhhh WHAT? There was never any communication that since the COMPANY moved our POD...we would have to pay additional fees to transfer to another PODS Storage company? On our invoices it said it was in Oregon the entire time when that was not true. I opened up an IR to get some answers and get the POD moved to the correct storage facility WITHOUT charging me. I did this on mid-April. It took over a week for it to be "assigned" and the associate reached out to me April 27th. I emailed my 'answers' to her questions right away. I still have not heard back from her. I have called twice and emailed twice. Because I will not pay this company any additional money in storage fees while they try to figure shit out, I had to take matters into my own hands. We ended up renting a UHaul, hiring movers to pack from POD to UHaul truck, and then drove the UHaul ourselves to our new house. A waste of money using PODs. Seriously, such a joke! Seriously. Update: I received no condolences nor proration of the monthly rental, and they were unable to accommodate my move-in date three weeks ahead. Apparently, you need to schedule your Pods drop-off months in advance if you want to no be charged the the entire month for only two weeks of storage, which is difficult if you're looking for an apartment. I very much commend the hard work that the driver did to ensure our Pods container storage could open as contents have definitely shifted during transportation. As for the admin side of things, I'd give this a negative star rating if I could. read more

Pods is quite possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with. That first sentence is all you need to know to not use this service, but I will give some examples. Just from the beginning it was horrible. I got a quote from pods and everything was set. I then get charged more money then was on a written and signed quote. After this problem was fixed with 4 phone calls, I got my pod dropped off at my home. The delivery drivers were very good. They ensured my pod was put exactly where I wanted it. The pod was dropped, filled, and picked up with zero hassle. I was in the process of selling my home and buying a new home. Speaking with the customer service person, I was informed I did not need to put a moving address as I didn't know where I was moving to, so I put the same address as pick up (the house I was selling) per the customer service request. Pods held on to my items for about five months until I found a house to buy. In those five months I had zero problems with paying them and everything was fine. Now here comes the fun. I called 1 month prior to delivery to my new home, because I wanted to give ample time for delivery. I talked to 3 customer services reps and they all said "we don't deliver to your address" ummm what? I moved about 40ish miles away from my old home and pods told me they could not deliver. The only option I was given was to rent a truck and come pick up my stuff at the storage facility. This pods company that can deliver all over the U.S according to the website, can't deliver 40 miles away. Finally I talked to someone that knew something and was told it was a mistake. Pods is able to deliver to my address. Perfect I thought! Man I was wrong again. I was then informed the only way pods could deliver is if they loaded my pod on an big rig truck, drive it 10 miles PAST my location drop it at another facility, and have the pods truck deliver to my address for an additional $600. Honestly I thought the person was making a joke. Sadly they were not. I then spoke to a "Resolution team" so they could work with me. I told them I signed a contract that had no mention of extra charges at delivery. No mention of pods not being able to deliver. The wonderful gentleman by the name of lyle woods I spoke with on the "resolution team" told me that each pods facility is a franchise owner, and they "aren't allowed" to drive past their territory. Mr woods was quite possibly the worst employee I dealt with. Virtually zero communication for an entire month. Yup no signed contract, no verbal communication saying they charge extra to deliver further then 20 miles, nothing. In short, my pods container with my entire house packed was being held hostage while I tried to figure out this whole payment thing. In the end I had them deliver for an extra $600ish as I'm sure a lot of other people do, because who is going to rent a truck and drive to get their stuff? Finally mr woods contacted me and said sorry for the mix-up but here's $200 off the cost "to make it right" I told them I filed a complaint with my credit card company, and never heard anything back from the "resolution team" My credit card company gave me my money back after contacting them. Not sure what goes into that, but either way I received my money. Please read other reviews like mine before giving this company any business. read more

My items were damaged in June while Pods decided to relocate my Pods. The first time I had conversation with Daniel the guy in claims was on October 21st. I call him several times a day for 3 1/2 weeks and still no reply. I found out the day of the delivery that my Pods was damaged and items of my my son that was killed in a tragic hate crime. read more

I'm a bit skeptical about pods. I called for a quote and was given a price. I did a chat with an agent again a week or so later ordering the same unit and I was quoted a price that was $500 more than the week before. I would think that the price would be the same. I don't like the idea that the price is different depending on who you speak with. When I questioned the agent the chat was immediately ended. A bit fishy. I'm going with someone else. read more

If I could i would give them a negative 5 star. They didn't refund me any of my money bc we couldn't use their services. I spoke to one of the associates and I let them kno I didn't have the exact destination but she said it doesn't matter we serve all areas. Well come to find put they don't. Not only did it make our move more difficult we won't ever get a refund. Or atleast half of the refund. We ordered two 16 pods and we had it half packed till I called them and told them the exact location then they said they couldn't service us . Absolute RUBBISH! Used Pods for a move, upon opening the container, my mahogany bed was severely damaged, my leather ottoman was ripped, and a mahogany tv stand was scratched. I filed a claim, supplied photos, and waited patiently. The result? Not a penny in compensation! Apparently, this was due to 'natural shifting'...so not their fault. What is the point of their moving insurance then, if it does not cover items damaged while in their care? Thanks a lot PODS...truly underwhelming service and support...enjoy spending my money while I have to shop for new furniture. I wish I could upload the photos here for everyone to see for themselves what happened to my furniture while in your possession. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I have had nothing but a HORRIBLE experience with PODS. When they picked up my POD, they damaged my yard and then now they make it so difficult to get reimbursed. On top of that, they keep changing their fees. A TOTAL SCAM!! Avoid them at all costs!! read more
