Happened to walk by this place when I was actually going to Banh Mi Boy a few shops down. I've been wanting to try a sushi burrito for forever since I was working overseas for a bit when this became popular. Decided to get the Tokyo Moe and didn't read all the way down or else I would have realized they put tempura batter on it and deep fry it, which wouldn't be so bad except they new guy on the block (I'm only assuming he was new bc the other two kept on trying to help him and he kept on trying to do it himself when he clearly needed help....lol) didn't put batter on one section of the burrito and a lot of oil seeped into the burrito itself. It was way too oily! However, the taste of the actual thing sans oil was very good and it was a great ratio (rice to filling ratio). I just wished it wasn't so oily bc I couldn't finish it, which was a shame. That all being said, I will definitely be back to try one that isn't fried and want to try their poke bowls and acai bowls bc I love both things so much. This is also why I'm giving 4 stars bc I don't want this place to shut down any time soon like all the other places on Main street! Even though my burrito left much to be desired, I think it was just an isolated case that was just bad luck. read more

Favorite place to get food after payday while I was in college at UD. Sushi burritos and their bowls are around $11 which isn't bad for what you're getting. The food is amazing and the best sushi burritos I've gotten from any place. The staff is courteous, the restaurant itself has a really relaxed vibe, and I recommend it to everyone. All of my friends would fall in love with this place. If I wasn't getting a bowl, I'd always get a tokyo moe tempura style. I know that when I come back to UD, I'm stopping by here again. read more

Delicious! I had the build your own poke bowl with brown rice, ahi tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, mango, seawood, cucumber, masago, daikon, and crunchy fried crab on top. This is my new Main Street go to for a quick healthy dinner. The fish is fresh and delicious and they have a great selection of add-ins. I recommend teriyaki sauce with a little spicy mayo! The bowls are fairly priced and the staff is super friendly. PoBu is a great addition to Main Street, glad to see a little variety! read more

I had the Harajuku Bowl which is one of their Signature Poke Bowl series. It was very well done, tasty, and filling. When I arrived, there were only two other people in the place, so service was instantaneous. The place is clean and the staff are efficient and as friendly as you would expect for serving a complete stranger. The only thing that kept me from giving this shop a 5th star was price. While in Philadelphia a similar Poke Bowl goes for $11.95 + tax, here in Newark, the bowl was $12 (we don't have sales tax). Now, I know we are near Philly, but this is not Philly. Also, we don't have any other Poke places on Main Street, so being an exception allows them to pick the price. However, a drop of $1 or so wouldn't kill them. All in all, a great choice for super yummy lunch. read more

The rice was so undercooked that the poke' bowl was very difficult to eat. Crunchy rice is not easy on the jaw. I liked that I could pick my own toppings but the way they mashed up the raw tuna and salmon; it looked so unappetizing. I ended up ordering the the crab and tuna because I could recognize them. I had the make your own poke bowl, and this fish was high quality, I had salmon and tuna. My biggest problem with it, was that the portion was too small to justify the price point. In similar establishments it seems you just get more bang for your buck. read more

Over the past few years I've become a regular at pobu and after moving away have been disappointed that I can't find a poke place near me that compares to Pobu! Pobu has the highest quality ingredients of any sushi place in the Newark/UD area, and the prices are reasonable for what you get as long as you eat fish (if you're a vegetarian you'll still enjoy the meal but it's not the same options). Love the make your own option too! It's a small place so they normally don't have many people on staff at once, but definitely still worth the trip! read more

Best service around in Newark and way better than Poke Bro's. I always create my own bowl and the fish that they use is as fresh as possible. If you're feeling adventurous then the soft shell crab is a solid bet as one of the wide varieties of protein that they have to offer. Highly recommend. read more

I recently graduated and the hardest part about leaving school was knowing that I couldn't have Pobu anymore. It is the best poké place I have ever eaten at. Every place I've had since never compares to the freshness and the taste I had at here. The workers are also extremely friendly and caring. Sometimes I even consider driving 3 hours just so I can eat a bowl for dinner. Would give them 10 stars if I could. The chirashi bowl was great. The spicy tuna and the ahi tuna tasted fresh. I loved the Yuzu Wasabi flavoring and the rice was not hot.

pretty overpriced for quality of food and size of bowl. also if you have any sort of food allergies I recomend not eating here. I expressed my concern with my shellfish allergy and I still had an allergic reaction even though I did not order any shellfish in my bowl. This is easily my favorite place to eat on main street. My boyfriend and I come here probably 3 times a week and everything we have ever gotten has been absolutely amazing. PoBu is that friend that you don't see for a while, but when you hang out with them you immediately say "oh yeah, thats why we don't hang out anymore." I am not saying PoBu is necessarily bad, but it is much better in theory. I am pretty sure every time I go in there they are training a new staff member, and this obviously effects their consistency. I feel like when I walk through the doors of PoBu, the words "not that much" or "extra" are muted when I speak them. That being said, will prob go back in like a week or two. read more

I happened to find PoBu as I was walking down Main St and saw SUSHI BURRITOS! I just had to have one and it was yummy! The poke bowls are also good, better than the Poke Bros for sure. The proteins are fresh and sauces delicious. They have Acai bowls but I haven't tried those yet. read more

This new poke/sushi place is awesome. You can make your own poke bowl or sushi burrito. It's so unique to the area and relatively inexpensive, not to mention delicious! For Delaware, its good/ok. I like how the bowls and burritos are flat priced and they don't charge extra for specific items in your bowl/burrito. The avocado has been brown and gross though on multiple occasions since I've gone there, and asking the owner woman for some soy sauce (which is weirdly behind the register) seems like pulling teeth- you own a sushi shop, soy sauce is supposed to be a limitless amenity like salt and pepper. The location blows too, but thats not their fault. They could be a great place, but they have to focus a bit more on customer service and keeping their ingredients fresh. read more

Pobu's TOKYO MOE! (cue Godzilla's or WWE's Samoa Joe's Theme Song) is a sight to behold; a behemoth of culinary excellence. In a lot of ways, the TOKYO MOE! sushi burrito is like The Infinity Gauntlet. Each ingredient (or gem in the case of the Gauntlet) is an exceptional power unto itself; sushi rice (BAM!), avocado (POW!), cream cheese (ZAP!), Spicy Tuna (KERPLOW!), Spicy Salmon (BORK!), Masago (SNUH!) and a cavalcade of Sweet Teriyaki and Sriracha Aioli (BRIK! and POP!) interlaced together like gossamer (and as we all know...one does not dissect gossamer) on a seaweed wrap. This by itself is better than 99% of the things you've ever eaten. Wars have been fought over this level of flavor. When encased in tempura batter and deep fried, however.....(much like The Infinity Gauntlet) the TOKYO MOE!! burrito transcends time and space. It has the power to destroy or recreate the Universe.
