You don't normally think of Tex-mex when you visit this part of town. We saw they could seat us immediately and we were hungry. The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The quesadilla was well cooked. Stuff with goodies and not soggy. The smothered burrito was the best thing we tried on the menu. I highly recommend the queso smothered. However if you opt to have the protein opted out for veggies there is an up charge. Service was quick and friendly. Overall a solid meal. Parking is ample and in the back. read more

We used to love Poblanos in their old building. We continue to try them over the last couple years and it just doesn't live up to the expectations. There was about a half an hour wait to place an order when I arrived, as the kitchen was backed up. They let us know and let us order drinks, we got chips and salsa right away (not sure if that is typical or not). When placing the order, the waitstaff asked if I was vegan and offered to switch out the refried beans for black beans which was great. I don't expect any place to have a special grill or fryer, but my food came out and there was at least a cup of shredded cheese (I asked for no cheese) and there was a small chunk of chicken on a tortilla. If you have serious dietary concerns, I wouldn't trust the kitchen. Mine aren't serious at least, so it was "fine". read more

We found Poblanos, which is the best Mexican restaurant in Frankenmuth. Alissa was our server and she was also the bartender, she was very friendly and on top of her game, we ordered (2) Frozen strawberry Margaritas, & (1) Chicken Quesadillas, the food was hot ' delicious. The restaurant was very modern and welcoming.. A special shout out to Lucas & Isabella, they were filling water & helping clean tables. A team sport. We came in at 7p & they close at 8p and we never felt rushed. We can't wait to return, I'm thinking Chimichanga next time!! read more

Restaurant is very cute, probably even better in the summer because of the patio. Unfortunately it was 40 degrees when I came in. If I were to rate just on service it would easily be 5 stars Krystal was fantastic and our food came out pretty fast. The chips and salsa were good (we didn't get a refill but probably because our meal came fast), and they have the good ice iykyk. I ordered 3 different tacos, chicken chipotle (best of the 3) spicy shrimp (worst of the 3, I could taste the spicy of the shrimp but the sauce was weird and not super flavorful) and the tin roof, (wasn't bad, liked the tortilla shell but i got beef and it was super salty, i should've gotten chicken). My sister got the birria meal, she said the tacos were salty and no other flavor. She said the consome broth was good. Rice and beans were bland. For being where the location is the Mexican place is not bad at all. Family owned and ran. Their white queso is yummy!!! I'd go there just for that. Nachos are pretty good also. A group of 13, we were seated by a very friendly and helpful host named Justice. Our experience deteriorated rapidly from there. Our waitress forgot to write down my wife's drink, she didn't even bring water. We ordered our food and it finally arrived over 90 minutes after we were seated. It took the food so long to arrive that my daughter in law had to leave without eating so she could get her daughter to bed. We had to ask for the complementary chips and salsa. To top it all off, my wife's food was cold. Unfortunately an 18% tip was automatically added to our bill due to the size of our group. This place gets a 2 star due to the fact that their chicken has no flavor, at all. No pepper, no salt, nothing. Not sure how they consider this Mexican food because it is not. On 3/30/2026 at 6:00pm my wife and I waited for 35mins after being seated. Not a single service member came to speak to us. The waitress in our section seemed overwhelmed by the single other table she was assigned. The server was not attentive, did not know the menu, and did not bother to ensure the food quality was up to par before bringing it to our table. The food seemed to have been prepared by someone who didn't care. The nachos were soupy and sloppy. The chips were not fresh. The food did not seem to be made from fresh ingredients. I used love it when it was uptown in the little building but since they moved locations there quality in food has took a dive. The rice & beans were one of my favorites part of the meal but the last few times they've come out Luke warm with a film on them like they were sitting under the heat lamp while the rest of the meal was being cooked. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in this part of the state: I drive over half an hour specifically to eat here. The food is quality, the staff are much nicer and more attentive than most reviews are saying, and there is no gaudy decor or excessively loud music. They even have a table where you can eat around a fire! The flavor and spice levels are great, and they accommodate and follow through on requests to put things on the side, leave toppings off, or to cook something a different way for those who are more spice-sensitive. The prices are also pretty reasonable considering the area and everything just stated. I've never had a very long wait, either, even when they are quite busy. I can't understand why the reviews are so low--maybe tourist expectations. I never use Yelp. This is my first typed review: I made an account just for this review. Memorable Anniversary Lunch at Poblano's Cantina We had the pleasure of dining at Poblano's Cantina to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary--and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we sat down, our waitress was wonderfully professional and personable. She took the time to get to know us, and when she learned we were celebrating our anniversary, she not only congratulated us, but also offered thoughtful suggestions on fun things to do afterward. Her menu knowledge was impressive, and her recommendations were absolutely spot-on! Our meals were nothing short of AMAZING. For our appetizer we had tamales and fresh salsa and warmed tortilla chips. For entrees, my husband had the Hawaiian nachos and I had the Beef Enchiladas. Every bite was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Servings were well sized, we took to-go boxes with us. We were so blown away that we asked if the chef could come out--and when he did, we stood and clapped! He truly deserved it. Poblano's Cantina gave us a meal to remember. This place was really great! I don't know what these other reviewers are going on about, but was waaaay better and priced fair compared to the big guys in town. And was open during the week which was hit or miss for most joints in town in February. Our food was excellent, service was attentive and pleasant, and the new location is very nice. We went with our two kids and ordered a bunch of different things. They asked immediately if we wanted hot or mild salsa (read medium and no spice - they cater to the Midwest palate that is sensitive to spicy). Came with a large bowl of salsa and basket of chips and refilled at our request. Salsa was fresh and chips looked to be house fried but not sure. Both are what you'd typically find at a good Mexican restaurant in metro Detroit. I ordered the fajita quesadillas with steak. They were great. The fajita veggies were onions and poblano peppers and you can really taste the uniqueness of the poblano pepper in it. Was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it (like this was craveable and may detour here on our way up north in the future). Ordered the dinner which came with rice and beans - standard Mexican rice with sazón and refried beans. Both had great flavor and were a hit with the kids. My other half ordered the Mexico City street taco dinner, tin roof taco, and cantina fish taco. The kids loved the meat on the Mexico City street taco (good flavor and not spicy). Other half liked the tin roof taco which had a deep fried tortilla and ground beef. He says the salsa is a good medium spicy perfect addition to the street tacos. We also got two house lime margaritas. These are clearly a pre-made mix and not fresh made but typical for a Mexican restaurant. Flavor was good and portion was huge. Service was excellent. Very attentive and accommodating. We had two younger kids and no one seemed to care. Baby grabbed a full taco off the plate when it arrived and it fell apart on the table. Server saw and offered to have it replaced. When I walked out with our to go containers he also stopped me and offered a plastic bag to carry it in. Overall, this place has a great vibe and good food. Ample parking lot and access right off of the main street on Jefferson. Stopped here on a whim while in Frankenmuth. Of all the times I've been to Frankenmuth, I've never heard of or seen Poblanos! This was a very Tex-mex type of ambiance. The chips and salsa were very good and nicely seasoned. There is a spicy and mild salsa, both were delicious. I ordered the southwest wrap and really enjoyed this. The wrap itself is a cheese jalapeño wrap and had a really nice kick. I had the steak instead and was super moist and tender. The service was prompt for a Saturday night. Food- the chicken taquitos appetizer was a not good . There was an aftertaste of the oil that it was fried in, but the queso dipping sauce that it served with was good. Beef tacos served on flour tortillas were good. Meat was seasoned well and the tomatoes and lettuce were nice and fresh. Beef tostadas were seasoned well and toppings were fresh. Quantity little tex mex joint near the heart of frankenmuth. Service was a tad slow at first, but picked up as people left. We probably caught the tail end of the lunch rush. It was pretty full until we were ready to leave and then almost completely empty. The entrees were good and priced affordable. The beans and rice were admittedly a bit of a let down. I found them to be bland and not the quality I'm used to- could just be a "me" thing. One thing this place needs to watch out for is charging people for things without warning them first. I ordered a wet burrito but wasn't sure if I could handle the spicy sauce on it. I asked for a small side of it in case it was too hot for my tastes. I was brought a giant bowl of it and charged almost $3. I was thinking a tiny cup just to taste, not a whole container! That just doesn't sit right with me. All and all we would probably eat here again but skip the rice and bean sides. And pay attention. They tack on a 3.5% charge when using credit cards. read more

A small group of us dropped in on our way out of town after a long day. The wait wasn't bad versus every other place on a Saturday. We were addressed and drink orders taken quickly. Drinks came out without a hitch. We had to request the customary chips and salsa after receiving our drinks and waiting a bit. Chips weren't fresh, salsa tasted like tomato sauce. The "spicy" salsa didn't have much spice at all. After much doctoring of the salsa with the table sauces, we came up with something edible. The orders were taken and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The longest was the taco salad and 5 wings. Most ordered tacos and were satisfied with their orders, however the price seemed a bit high for the quality. The chicken taco salad was made with canned chicken and it wasn't hard to tell by the taste. The dressing for the chicken salad was watery. And the wings, though ok, were extremely thickly breaded (not my fave). One person received an item on their plate which they'd requested not to have. Another ordered the wrap and wasn't thrilled with that either. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because our server was great, if overworked, and seating was able to be arranged quickly. Bottom line: Eat somewhere else. Anywhere else, really. Even if it's less convenient. read more

The food here is average. The staff are very friendly and are the main reason the review is 3 stars and not one. The location and the building itself are quite nice and seem clean overall. The salsa tasted watery and lacked any real flavors. We tried the nachos and while the ingredients themselves seemed fresh the meat was quite greasy. The chicken was mushy and the ground beef left a grease puddle making most of the chips soggy. The cheese was good. Three orders were not correct and when we told the waiter he said 'well I didn't make it' and left the table. He returned eventually with the correct items. Party of 5 visited a little late on a Saturday evening . We were immediately sat at table on the enclosed patio with a built in fire pit that was an awesome touch on a freezing night. Service could have been better with the drinks but food came out quickly and was very good. All of our diners were very pleased.
