Abuela

got there and parking lot was def sketchy but went in anyway. got to table and was dirty and server lady had to clean it. they had no cups left so we got plastic #savethewhales also chips and salsa cost money not free which was no bueno (spanish for no good) but got free refill. salsa came in squeeze bottles which was wack so it was more like tomato milk consistency. also no chicken for fajitas but they had it for chimichanga so idk so i got steak. also they didn't ask me if i wanted corn tortillas so i got flour but WHAT IF I WAS GLUTEN (i not). birthday party was happening at the buffet and it was popping, kinda jealous. they had some peanut butter just sitting out not sure if they had pbj or not idk man. finally they also had picture of abuela out so that made it more homely and i enjoyed decently.

They have the best hardshell Taco basket. The waitresses are very friendly. It's definitely a mom and pops restaurant.

When I go to place my order for the hard shell taco basket, I was told they didn't have hard shells.

What a quaint, cozy little eatery. Perfect for a group of family or friends. This would be ideal for travelers looking for a quick bite or folks on their lunch break, staring down limited time to eat. The menu is quite extensive and the prices very affordable. Mostly variations on the standard for each item. Simply add or subtract. For example: Nachos (supremo, vegetarian, fajitas or botana) I have our group eating community style. Everyone orders a decent size meal and divides it nine ways. As far as I'm concerned everything tasted great, but I confess, my attention was predominately on fellowship with the kids. They've embedded pennies in the table. Poor little Tony was too young to understand that he can't get them. He tries, fails, forgets and tries again, about every twenty minutes or so. Hilarious. Maybe next time we meet we can fill the restaurant with family and poor Tony will find something different to fixate on. 03/25

I'm a little disappointed I suppose…read more After reading all the glowing reviews and looking over the menu I was sure I was going to have a delightful meal this evening. This restaurant is attached to what is clearly a dying mall, and that may be part of the issue they're having in terms of retaining staff and maintaining foot traffic. It is desperately hard to maintain a high quality standard in food when you simply don't have that many people coming in to eat. The staff I interacted with were generally friendly, but also quite busy and trying to keep up with the various tables. The seating options were a little uncomfortable, but serviceable overall. Everything appeared to be clean, although I noticed a bucket of dishes sitting out in the main dining room That was not being attended to. Given the volume of business they were having at the time this wasn't a huge deal. The food was a mixed bag. The chips were decent but a little greasy. My chicken was well prepared and had a delicious cheese sauce on it. The rice and beans were quite regrettable unfortunately. The beans were overcooked and too pasty, the rice had no real flavor to it. It really is a shame, I was looking forward to trying this place.

I was angry, I was like "no I'm not going in there, it's an abandoned restaurant in an abandoned…read moremall" I shouted in the midst of an argument with my wife who "wanted to try something new" Fortunately for me we had my mother in law with us who brought sense to the situation by just walking inside the Cazadores restaurant. This was some of the best Mexican food I've had, period.

The pork pulled apart into thick strands, it had great texture, some bits of tender fat, some bits of crisped edges. Fantastic stuff. If I wanted to pick nits, I might prefer a smidge more salt and I would have killed for a wedge of lime to squeeze over the whole thing. But the brightness of the salsa rojo did the job nicely of bringing this taco into balance. That salsa had some kick, and was also a delightful compliment to the barbacoa taco, which I suspect was actually barbacoa de cabeza. What a delightful surprise! Rich and meaty, and oh so tender. The tacos might actually suffer from having too much meat in them. I went for three, but two would be more than sufficient. Even one would be a mighty hefty snack. With double corn tortillas, you could even do the clever trick of splitting one taco into two... but then you risk the dreaded tortilla break. While I was looking forward to the lengua, that was the least exciting of them all. The tongue was fattier than I was accustomed to eating, and it was lacking that deep beefy flavor I adore. Had there been some lime, and perhaps a greater helping of onions and cilantro, it would have helped to lighten those bites. But so it goes. Not every taqueria / bakery does everything well. Oh yeah... do not sleep on the chicharon on the counter! Those are sold by the pound. I grabbed three pieces, and they were perfect for snacking on while my tacos were being made. In fact, they may be the reason I wasn't able to get through that third taco. So crisp. So savory. So juicy with fat. So satisfying to chew. Marvelous stuff. Just make sure to limit yourself to what you can eat in the moment, they are best when warm and fresh! All of this in Saginaw? What an unexpected treat! Thank you Yelp for helping me find a respite from my responsibilities that brought me up to this town for the day. I wish I lived closer, but if I'm back in the area, I'm coming back for carnitas and chicharon. No doubt!

I was trying to find a nice local place for dinner here in Saginaw, and really struggled to do so…read more It seems like this place has mostly chain restaurants and very few independent diners. After doing some scouring, I found Coco Loco and decided to give it a whirl. Pulling up, the place looks a bit tired from the outside. I was skeptical about going in, but I decided to give it a go ahead anyway since I was already here, didn't want Texas Roadhouse down the street, not looking for fast food and felt like Mexican. Walking in the place wasn't busy but there was enough diners here that I was like okay it can't be that bad. I reviewed the menu and they do have tons of good options but tend to be on the pricier side of things. I ended up getting the Petito dinner which sounded right up my alley. It was 3 tacos that were deep fried, rice, beans and extra toppings. I guess you have a few choices of what to get in the tacos, and I went with shredded beef because its my favorite. When the food came out, I was extremely impressed with the portion size as it was absolutely massive! I couldn't even finish it because it was just so much food. The refried beans were awesome and the rice was pretty good to. I wish I would have taken a photo but I was so hungry that I didn't even think about it. The interior here is super colorful and my server was pretty good at her job. I did have to ask for extra napkins, but I always do so that's no big deal. I did ask for a bit of extra sour cream and they charged me for it?! at this point I was already $20 in the hole, so what's an extra dollar or whatever the charge was. Not the cheapest dinner or the fanciest place, but decent food and better than some of the places within the vicinity (mostly being chain restaurants.) I wish they would beautify the outside a bit and take care of the exterior of the building as it was a bit sad looking from the street. Overall a good solid meal. Would return in the future.
