Just what you would expect for a Saturday. We were seated promptly and our order was taken promptly. Then we waited, and waited, and waited... nearly 45 minutes for our food to come out. I mean come on. It's a Mexican restaurant that bills itself as a bit upscale. I ordered the ribeye with an add on of grilled shrimp and my wife ordered the steak fajita's. I have to admit. THAT Ribeye was absolutely fantastic! The grilled shrimp were also very good. Not $10 up charge good, but good. My wife's fajitas were just kind of ho hum. Nothing special whatsoever. In the end, with tip and zero alcoholic beverages our bill was just shy of a $100. For an "upscale" Mexican dinner. There are much better Mexican Food alternatives for that kind of money in Bay City. Don't get me wrong... the food was very good. Just not $100 good.

I never even got a chance to try their food. I found their phone number online & when I called,…read moresome young woman picked up the phone and went, "Uhm, hello?" followed by about 5 seconds of awkward silence - not "Hi, thanks for calling Krazy Juan Mexican Steak House, what can I do for you?" Apparently they are completely clueless on both phone etiquette and how to run a business. After confirming I didn't just call some random person, I asked for a takeout order, so she forwarded the phone back to the bar. The guy who picked up the phone sounded confused when I asked for takeout, and immediately put me on hold. At that point I went, "F it, this is pathetic" and hung up. Of course Krazy Juan's is yet another fake, overpriced Dow restaurant that their execs eat at when "slumming it" having business meetings in Bay City.

Of course, filling up on chips and salsa before the meal comes doesn't help, but it's so good! Before getting on this recent "kick" I always ordered the chicken or shredded beef chimichanga dinner, which is awesome, too! The restaurant is clean and dishes served quickly and piping hot by friendly staff. Check it out!

Then when it was time to pay gave her a card and she ran it and bring the receipt to sign. Left it on table and was leaving she stopped us and said that it didn't go through.....wtf lol literally showed her on machine it said 0 balance and idk if she didn't know what she was doing or didn't know English or what but the worst server I have ever had!!! Food is definitely not worth it especially if the server sucks and doesn't do her job!!

The food was great, I had the bacon/beef burger it was great, my wife had the pulled pork over waffle fries appetizer (can't remember the name) very good, the couple we were with had the perch and VNO bobs both said they were very good. Arianna was our server and was very attentive even though they seemed to be under staffed. The owner even came by our table at the end of the night and introduced himself. Only reason not 5 stars, there really wasn't a hostess stationed anywhere to seat us when we arrived and we just kind of stood there until a server walked by and we asked him what we could do to get a table. All in all it was very good and we will be back. Went back on 7/22/17, still a crap shoot with the hostess, we just wandered around until we found someone that worked there. Family got the wings, they were great and big (jumbo). The buffalo sauce has a little kick to it, my wife (who doesn't like hot) went through about 4 pepsi's while eating about 6 of them. Honey BBQ were excellent. Kev was our server and was awesome. I really like VNO, glad it's in town!

Service was sluggish, and the water tastes bad (either bad ice or bad taps, yuck). We ordered the cheese dip, which was brought out before our food, but we watched it form cheese skin while we waited for chips to arrive, eventually I had to get up and ask for chips, before the cheese got completely cold. I dont know what they thought we were going to do with the cheese dip without chips, sip it?? $8 margarita was way too sweet and $13 paloma cost almost as much as my entree. The tricolor enchiladas were good and the tacos were also good, chips good. Food overall was fine. Service was slow and mumbly, 4-5 tables filled in while we were there, but we were not checked on, never asked about 2nd round of drinks.. food was not special enough to make up for the inattentive waitstaff. I will say the menu is quite extensive, so they have lots of options if you have more patience than I do.

When we arrived after the lunch hour, we realized that we were the only customers in the place! There were 2 customers that came by to pick-up to go food, but during the time we were there, no one else came by. The waitresses were very nice, but very slow in taking our orders! The food seemed to take forever, but it finally arrived! For the most part, the food was OK, but the refried beans were a bit tasteless. We had a total of 9 people in our group, but with the slow service it made no sense that everything took forever! Is this a family run business? And a gratuity was automatically added to our bills! We would not have given what the included!

While visiting Michigan, I stopped into Gilley's and ordered a custom breakfast plate because I'm on a special diet. It was so good that I came back twice. I've jokingly started calling it the "El San Diego" breakfast plate. The pork was flavorful, the food was fresh, and everything was cooked perfectly. What really stood out was the service. On my return visit, the owner remembered my order and personally whipped up the same El San Diego breakfast plate for me again. It was just as incredible the second time. Friendly staff, great food, great ambiance, and genuine 5 star hospitality. As a Southern California Mexican food snob, I can honestly say Gilley's exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be back a third time before I leave.

After a quick Yelp search, we found Gilly's and are glad we did! The restaurant is tucked away in an old business district...many of the neighboring businesses are closed. It has a parking area in the back but we just parked on the street out front. The staff was very friendly when we ordered at the counter. I ordered a wet burrito. (For those not from around here-it's basically a burrito with some sauce on top). It was very good and I couldn't finish it all. My husband and son both ordered quesadillas, which they liked. My husband said his steak quesadilla was a bit greasy but that was the only negative of our whole meal. We also shared some street corn fries, which we loved. It was street corn on top of fries. I loved the corn so much that I will just get a side of that on my next visit-but the fries were great too. The menu doesn't say it but they told me they would also make items with corn tortillas if a gluten free dish is needed. This may be a new favorite in Bay City! The location is a little out of the way but definitely worth finding!
