My friend and I stopped here for dinner on a Friday evening after hearing good things and were seated immediately. We shared the firecracker shrimp for an appetizer which was very good. My entree was the Jamaican jerk flat iron served on a bed of rice pilaf topped with grilled asparagus. It was good but I was expecting a little more heat. My friend got an Asian side salad and fish and chips which he said he enjoyed. I considered them small plates and would like to see a garden salad or coleslaw offered with the entrees for the prices they are charging. High/low top, bar and patio seating. Full bar with craft and specialty drinks. Excellent service. Retro environment. Loud. Pricey. I also was a little concerned seeing the "review spamming" on Google with 5 stars, no comments and only one or two total reviews. I most likely would return. read more

Sooo....We thought this place was ok...our bartender Tyler was good and made good drinks. However, we left without ordering food because two employees... (One girl with blond hair and a guy with a beard) were talking about one of the people we were with. Very rude and made us feel like we needed to bring our business someplace else. This place is lovely and very appealing. The entrance is not clearly stated but they do have outdoor seating. The service was wonderful unfortunately there is nothing gluten free on their menu I was told. So I could not give full 5 Star review. The place is spacy and very welcoming and takes you back. If you Don't have a gluten allergy I would definitely recommend trying out some of the skewers they offer or good lamb. read more

Well first and foremost the menu little pricey. However the plates that they served looked really good. I Ordered the lamb and although it was cooked great it had too much rosemary on it and yeah I know it said honey but it was really sweet which for me ruined the taste of the lamb. I did sample the rest of the plates and they were very good. Now the service, it was horrible, we had to wave down other servers to get our drinks refilled. At best our server was good at delivering the check and apologetic for the poor service. As she put it finally caught up. There for the two stars. Maybe better luck next time. read more

We just tried Retro Rocks for the first time tonight...absolutely awesome! We started with drinks at the bar, would definitely recommend their Butterfly Tequila Paloma...so refreshing. For a take home order we chose the pork potstickers and the Argentinian beef skewers...they were both so incredible. The sirloin literally melts in your mouth and the chimichurri aioli would be good on just about anything!!! Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu :) read more

Totally disappointed in this place. It used to be great. My Buddy and I walked in and we were asking about a Whiskey Sour. The dude behind the bar was totally not impressed and he said well, we don't really sell any of those. Just Premade sweet & sour mix. I asked him what kind of whiskey he made them with. He again was not impressed. He said house or well whiskey. Whatever that was. I still don't know what they use because he never said. I ended up ordering old faithful, my captain and diet with lime. My friend asked for BV and diet. Guess what? No BV. Long story short, we each had 2 drinks and the total was $26.00. I will never step foot in that place ever again. Makers Mark and Captain Morgan should never be that expensive. Total rip-off. No wonder the place was empty. The dude behind the bar likes it that way. read more

I fail to understand some of these reviews. The menu opens to a wide variety of choices, from simple to gourmet. We went there and had two gourmet dinners and a glass of wine each, and our tab with tip was under 60 bucks. I have the Korean Bulkogi, it was very tender and tasty. My date had the spinach and portobello quesadillas. It was loaded with spinach and portobello and cheese. I don't think the prices were high, as a matter of fact, I thought they were very reasonable. Had a great dinner last night there with some new friends. We had the Ahi Tuna appetizer and it was delicious. I had the Hangar steak entree and I highly recommend it. The waitress was very friendly. They have a new drink menu and I really enjoyed the "Summer of 69" cocktail. Worth a stop if you're in town for a weekend! read more

First off, this place is pricy for Bay City. With that said my wife ordered the Korean Steak Skewers and they were really good, very tender and the sauce was amazing. We had drinks (3 for me 2 for her) and our bill was a little north of $86. Sorry the value is not there for me when the other options w/in walking distance are more in my range. I will say our server was awesome (short blonde with braids), very attentive and seemed to be happy to be there unlike some of the other servers walking around. read more

Stopped in for a late dinner on a Monday, and was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu (including vegan options), and the food was really good. The patio needs a little love, but we found out from our wonderful waitress that there are plans for a large two-story patio buildout sometime in the future. Would definitely go again. read more

Our second time at this off the beaten path downtown Bay City location and was again very pleased. The cocktails are first class. Really made correctly. Large single cubes in appropriate drinks like old fashions and Manhattan's. Ordered from the appetizer menu and everything was outstanding. Only complain about this place is that they should carry the retro rocks theme throughout better and also adjust lighting to be less cafeteria like in the main dining room portion.
