    Empty chips and salsa

We used to love Poblanos in their old building. We continue to try them over the last couple years and it just doesn't live up to the expectations. Here's what we liked: * Chips are crisp and like the salsa. * Cool looking building * Beans had a good flavor. What could of been better: * Let's be honest, one of the best things about a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. We ordered drinks, we ordered our meal and finally had to ask...can we get some chips and salsa? * The beans were good but can we please at least heat them and melt the cheese on top? * Margarita flight was just eh- none of them struck me as a margarita I would like to order. * The birria tacos were hands down the most flavorless and lack luster I have ever had. * Service again was at best mediocre. We continue to try this place and they continue to prove they just aren't the same. Fancy building but so many better Mexican options.

Chicken chipotle, tin roof and spicy shrimp tacos

Restaurant is very cute, probably even better in the summer because of the patio. Unfortunately it was 40 degrees when I came in. If I were to rate just on service it would easily be 5 stars Krystal was fantastic and our food came out pretty fast. The chips and salsa were good (we didn't get a refill but probably because our meal came fast), and they have the good ice iykyk. I ordered 3 different tacos, chicken chipotle (best of the 3) spicy shrimp (worst of the 3, I could taste the spicy of the shrimp but the sauce was weird and not super flavorful) and the tin roof, (wasn't bad, liked the tortilla shell but i got beef and it was super salty, i should've gotten chicken). My sister got the birria meal, she said the tacos were salty and no other flavor. She said the consome broth was good. Rice and beans were bland. Probably would only return for maybe a drink and chips and salsa.

Our first visit here and we were super impressed. We asked the waiter for a dinner suggestion, without missing a beat he shared what his favorite item on the menu was. Fantastic suggestion!! A couple of margaritas and fried ice cream topped off the meal while we ate outside.

For being where the location is the Mexican place is not bad at all. Family owned and ran. Their white queso is yummy!!! I'd go there just for that. Nachos are pretty good also. With that being said the chicken tacos I had were super greasy (I didn't even eat them all). Service is usually good. And cute little place. You also can purchase alcohol to go.

This place was really great! I don't know what these other reviewers are going on about, but was waaaay better and priced fair compared to the big guys in town. And was open during the week which was hit or miss for most joints in town in February. Our food was excellent, service was attentive and pleasant, and the new location is very nice. We went with our two kids and ordered a bunch of different things. They asked immediately if we wanted hot or mild salsa (read medium and no spice - they cater to the Midwest palate that is sensitive to spicy). Came with a large bowl of salsa and basket of chips and refilled at our request. Salsa was fresh and chips looked to be house fried but not sure. Both are what you'd typically find at a good Mexican restaurant in metro Detroit. I ordered the fajita quesadillas with steak. They were great. The fajita veggies were onions and poblano peppers and you can really taste the uniqueness of the poblano pepper in it. Was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it (like this was craveable and may detour here on our way up north in the future). Ordered the dinner which came with rice and beans - standard Mexican rice with sazón and refried beans. Both had great flavor and were a hit with the kids. My other half ordered the Mexico City street taco dinner, tin roof taco, and cantina fish taco. The kids loved the meat on the Mexico City street taco (good flavor and not spicy). Other half liked the tin roof taco which had a deep fried tortilla and ground beef. He says the salsa is a good medium spicy perfect addition to the street tacos. We also got two house lime margaritas. These are clearly a pre-made mix and not fresh made but typical for a Mexican restaurant. Flavor was good and portion was huge. Service was excellent. Very attentive and accommodating. We had two younger kids and no one seemed to care. Baby grabbed a full taco off the plate when it arrived and it fell apart on the table. Server saw and offered to have it replaced. When I walked out with our to go containers he also stopped me and offered a plastic bag to carry it in. Overall, this place has a great vibe and good food. Ample parking lot and access right off of the main street on Jefferson. Note that the Yelp address is wrong since they moved to Jefferson street.

What a quaint, cozy little eatery. Perfect for a group of family or friends. This would be ideal for travelers looking for a quick bite or folks on their lunch break, staring down limited time to eat. The menu is quite extensive and the prices very affordable. Mostly variations on the standard for each item. Simply add or subtract. For example: Nachos (supremo, vegetarian, fajitas or botana) I have our group eating community style. Everyone orders a decent size meal and divides it nine ways. As far as I'm concerned everything tasted great, but I confess, my attention was predominately on fellowship with the kids. They've embedded pennies in the table. Poor little Tony was too young to understand that he can't get them. He tries, fails, forgets and tries again, about every twenty minutes or so. Hilarious. Maybe next time we meet we can fill the restaurant with family and poor Tony will find something different to fixate on. 03/25

After looking at the menu, we came to the realization that there's only a few actual Italian dishes served. More of a family American restaurant; however, they do have Stromboli and pizza pies on their menu. Must say that their mixed drinks are extremely reasonable. They did not have Compari to make a Negroni and substituted Aperol. Overall, not a bad drink, especially at only $5! My wife had one of their specialty cocktails which was only $7 but too sweet for my taste buds. We ordered their garlic cheese bread with sauce, little did we know it was actually a 12 inch pizza with lots of mozzarella served with sauce! It was actually pretty good but way too big. I tried their Gonzalo steak tips while my wife ordered their pizza Margarita. Although the flavors in the Gorgonzola steak tips were nice there was only about five steak tips with of pasta and sauce. My wife's margarita pizza was presented well and the slice. I had tasted pretty good. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from Lucas. He was a fine young man who was affable and professional. If we do go back, we would try the Stromboli as it looked delicious!
