Feom the first bite, I was in love! The crispy, perfectly cooked carnitas were the star of the taco - as they should be - and with every bite I got more crispy bits of deliciously addicting caramelized pork. Sooooo good! I think I was literally moaning as I ate them. The corn tortillas are freshly made and you can absolutely taste the difference. The street tacos were exactly how I like them: one home made corn tortilla stuffed with crispy yet tender carnitas, topped with chopped onion and cilantro served with fresh lime. Legit. Tacos are $3 and totally worth it. I ordered three and was full after two so had one for a snack later. Service with a huge smile from a woman who genuinely wants you to enjoy your meal. Food is fresh, meaning cooked to order and served piping hot. Located in The Bite on Belmont, a small food truck pod, Poblano Pepper had a continuous line so that's saying something. I'll definitely be back for more tacos and look forward to trying chimichangas, burritos and other menu items.

Tried out the food cart on Belmont. Was pretty popular. Very friendly staff - got bunch of tacos. Carnitas, spicy tinga, pineapple pork, mushroom and tofu. All tasted pretty good. Their creamy looking salsa is hooot! They threw in some chips and guacamole for free - huge tub of guacamole and crispy chips. Nice!

As a Californian, one of my fatal flaws is thinking that California has the best tacos. Poblano Pepper, like many other delicious Mexican restaurants all over the US, once again...reminds me that excellent tacos also reside in other places. Tacos: I always test out Mexican restaurants by their al pastor taco. Easily the best type of taco (although fish taco fanatics and lengua taco purists will disagree). Poblano Pepper does not disappoint. The pieces of al pastor are delicious and are augmented by the grilled onion slices and pineapples pieces. I also ate a chorizo taco. It wasn't mushy or greasy, which is the sad fate for many chorizo tacos. I will admit that chorizo and al pastor aren't the best taco pairing, but I was in a mood. The spiciness was perfect and the saltiness was just right. I really should have ordered more. Let's not forget the handmade tortillas. No easy task for any Mexican restaurant. It's time consuming and often done poorly. Here, they are soft, warm, the right size, and strong enough to never endanger the integrity of the taco. Drinks: Tacos are enhanced with the drinks you down them with. I'm sorry, but a taco with water is a wasted taco. Controversial, but I believe this. The selection of drinks here is top tier. They had grapefruit jarritos, which is rare. The horchata was smooth and sweet, but not too sweet. Sadly, I leave this place in a few days and I will miss it. Dear, Portland residents (Portlanders?), you have a gem here. Try their al pastor tacos with a grapefruit jarrito.

I went to cartside in NE Portland so I'm not sure why that specific location isn't on Yelp. Difficult to maintain social distance rules just because the space was small and other food carts with people surrounding them. There were spaces to eat near a brewery though. Poblano pepper was really good! I'd recommend. Many vegan options! Got the soyrizo burrito for 8.50. The green sauce was hot.

Chorizo bowl with pinto beans! Delicious and SO filling.

Eaten here twice now - a spicy tinga bowl and more recently a chorizo bowl. My coworkers have tried the tacos and burritos. We love ordering lunch from here. Great Mexican food. Consistent and filling.

Poblano Pepper goes great w/ a beer from Baerlic. Some of the other food carts are also good but Poblano is my favorite.

It had a panko crust which sometimes I prefer to batter. They were a little bit salty for my taste but ever since I got COVID lots of things have tasted salty so take that with a grain of salt I'm not a tartar sauce guy but this is some great sauce. I feel like later I got a piece of tarragon(?) out of my teeth and reminded me of the herby yummy sauce. I scoffed at first at the chips. Very non uniformly cut but surprisingly all well cooked. I don't know if it's they type of potato but the skin was really off putting. But solid toothsome chips that a splash of vinegar helps a lot. If I end up in a similar position again I'll definitely consider coming back.

I came after a review I read on Eater for FoPo area eats. I'm not a huge fried food fan but this place was good. I got the Steelhead trout fish and chips. Wait was ok they give you a buzzer so you can stroll around the food court. Took about 10 mins not bad. The locally sourced steelhead was a delicious surprise. Tender, juicy fish with crispy breading. Good seasoning. Fries were thicker so not as crispy but still hearty. 3 medium sized pieces of fish. They included ketchup for the fries as well as malt vinegar and tartar sauce for authentic fish dip. Wedge of lemon, too! All in a earth-friendly cardboard box. They take credit just fine. Very convenient location at Carts on Foster just down the street from where I was staying. So I walked back and enjoyed there. If you're staying you could probably cruise over to any local breweries or the bar cart for a beer to complement the fried food. Good time!!!
