I don't see how one has to do with the other as he was not on the job site at all times. Lots of short cuts were attempted - my father and husband literally had to be on watch throughout the process to make sure they were providing structurally sound work. We were smart enough to draw up a detailed contract as to what work was to be done, and at times even that was refuted. He even attempted to start the work before he signed the agreement, glad we did not or we would be even more dissatisfied than we already are. I see that he received reviews on Home Advisor during periods of time he said he was unable to work on our projects, adding weeks to the completion, so easy to see our job was not a priority. During our process, before he started slacking, a neighbor inquired about their service and we said so far, we were pleased. Fast forward to a few weeks when we're trying to get our project completed and he's trying to add additional cost to the quote, when we reminded him that we even referred him to another job, he replied that was "his luck", not our referral. Our neighbor, after finding out how his service fell flat decided not to go with him after all. I guess that's his karma. He promised to power wash the work site after everything was completed. When we were finally nearing the end and asked him about that, he said he would only do that if we hired him for $10k roof job we also had him quote. Bait and switch and smooth talker. WOULD NEVER HIRE HIM AGAIN again and would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND HIM. We're still stuck with sloppy concrete work right in front of our front gate and a mantle over our front window that was half completed. Sloppy and dishonest!

Hence when we hire contractors for any work around our house, we get multiple estimates (or at least try too), interview the contractors when they come to the house, and I also do research on their companies (read reviews, check their licenses, etc.). We contacted 5 different roofing companies and only 2 of them got back to us with estimates. We chose to go with DeFalco Roofing because we found Christian very knowledgeable, forthcoming with information and willingness to address all our concerns. AN EXTRA BONUS ~ he offered financing with a reputable company who has access to many different lenders to choose from if we wanted to finance the project. When the materials were delivered to the house, we weren't home, but Christian made sure to keep us in the loop of what was being delivered and where it was being placed on our property. The morning of the install we were greeted by Christian, his father and their team of workers that got to work right away and kept the worksite cleaned throughout the day. By the end of the day our old house had a brand-new roof installed without any issues. It was even tested the next day with a nice steady rain. If had to do it all over again, I would hire DeFalco Roofing without hesitation because of the excellent experience we had with them.

I first used Brodie's Roofing about 15 years ago when, on a cold 20-degree day in February, my son…read morenoticed the roof leaking in his room. I remembered this company as it advertised in our local West Milford newspaper. I called him about 11 a.m., and he was there with 2 employees within an hour. Again, it was a Saturday in February! A 4' X 4' section of the roof was replaced within 2 hours. He gave me an estimate for the replacement of the entire roof and said it did not have to be done immediately - that was a relief, and his honesty struck me. The roof lasted another 5+ years and never leaked. When it was due to be replaced, I called back. As I live on a major road, his response was that he had been watching the roof for years and concurred it was time to replace it. I knew the previous estimate was obviously no longer valid as it was 5 years old. I requested a new estimate and was shocked to see that he didn't want to simply go over the roof with a new layer but recommended the removal of the old roof - at substantially more effort. I trusted this man so much that I never even sought another estimate. The job was performed by his employees - 3 men and a woman! The work and clean-up were meticulous. The roof is now 10+ years old and has never given me a problem. He promised an annual roof & gutter cleaning and said it would be unannounced. He would just show up and do it. I was shocked to say the least. True to his word, every year - and sometimes twice a year! - Rudy shows up and cleans my roof and gutters. He never charges, but I always tip his employee. It's money well spent. Two months ago, one of my two 37-year-old skylights began to leak - not at the roofline, but the seals on the skylight themselves where the glass meets the plastic/metal trim. I called Brodie and he advised I was fortunate as skylights generally last about 25 years and he recommends replacement then as preventative maintenance. I guess I was fortunate to have gotten 37 years, and the leak didn't cause any major damage. The sheetrock just had to be replaced. He replaced both skylights and, as with the roof, I've had no issues whatsoever. He even recommended another contractor to replace the interior trim which was done meticulously. I've recommended Brodie's Roofing to many friends, and they have all had similar experiences. I wouldn't use nor recommend anyone else!
