Scott's was the only firm that just said, rip it off and put on a new one with GAF roofing. He said that he in good faith could not recommend replacing the tiles, about 50 of them, because he was not sure if it would be fully repaired. Other roofers said they would replace the 50 tiles. When I asked if he'd guarantee that replacing the slates would work, they hedged and one implied that since I was moving, it only had to work for a brief time. Ignoring that, I decided to use Scott's to replace the roof. And their prices were highly competitive. Unlike other roofers, they complete each piece of the roof that they are doing that day, and do not use tarps. They said they don't use subcontractors, and Scott's son was the foreman of the crew. They arrived on time and cleaned as they went. Under the slate roof was a cedar shingle roof. It turns out that one portion of the roof did not have cedar underneath, so they just had to remove the slate. They refunded the difference in the price. The window sills on the third floor were rotted on one side of the house, but not on the other, so only half of them had to be replaced. There is no way I would know any of this. I wouldn't know if there were shingles where and which window sills were rotted. The fact that they handled these issues they way they did shows their inherent honesty in their business processes. I now have a beautiful, GAF covered roof. I only wish I had done it years ago. I cannot recommend this firm highly enough. They are one of the best, if not the best vendor, I have ever used.

All work was done in day and a half with no issues. On a separate occasion, we had shingles blown off due to recent severe storms in the area and Scott's guys were out to asses with repairs two days later in less than half a day.
