I am not surprised PLV went bankrupt. Their poor training was apparent with their sloppy work, battery-powered tools not being charged, & not cleaning up afterwards. The worst was the guy installing a new main breaker panel using only the light from his cell phone & then mislabeling most of the outlets on the panel door. In addition, the panel wires were not labeled by them before they swapped panels, so they flipped every circuit breaker off/on to determine which outlets were on them. So, they created power surges across every appliance. Be aware that they are now known as My Generator Experts and Ryan's Electric. +++++++++++++++ After seeing Paul's immature response to my above review, I only wish I could give zero stars. Now I better understand why he was a horrible supervisor. (BTW, my panel was clearly marked as to which circuit breakers went to which outlets.) read more

My husband arranged to have our Generac generator installed. They did a very good job, but now, I cant get ahold of them to honor the maintance contract that I bought. My husband has since passed, so its fallen onto me. Such a shame!​ read more

Run the other way. PLV went bankrupt and are now operating under Ryan's Electric and My Generator Experts. My 'serviced' generator has been inoperable for 7 months They keep telling me that Generac hasn't sent parts. Generac says parts have never been ordered since they are not longer authorized dealers/service. Paul Vehling and his partner in crime Laurie are the worst. read more

All of these reviews are beginning to sound the same. I purchased a generator, a maintenance contract with a 10 year warranty from PLV in 2021. Their follow up is dreadful, no returned calls nor emails and they don't show up when they are supposed to. My generator has not been working for more than 4 months now and despite countless inquiries, I have no idea when the problem will be solved. DO NOT purchase a generator nor a maintenance contract with PLV. I am about to escalate this to Generac. read more

Whatever you do stay away from PLV Electric or their new incarnation My Generator Experts. I purchased my generator from them in 2022. They installed it no problems. However, my generator was supposed to include a 10 yr warranty from Generac. Apparently they never registered or paid for this warranty. This was at least 1 year before they went out of business so they were already practicing shady businesses practices. read more

Horrific company- was PLV that filed for bankruptcy and changed name. Took my money and ran. Had generator installed 3 years ago. Issues 1. failed inspection 3 times. 2. my 10 year warranty I BOUGHT with generator was never put under my generator - I had to fight Generac with copies of my contract and invoice to get it applied and only succeeded because the new company I found wrote a letter and helped me. 3. Paid for 4 services- 2 maintenances and 2 inspections. Showed up once-had to call another company because generator stopped working. Showed me filters were never changed, plugs were mismatched and firmware not updated. They fixed, and helped me get warranty I bought from Generac by writing a letter saying it was maintained and in good working order. Call Reds Generator Service - their staff are friendly, answer every call and are knowledgeable and efficient. read more

I paid $500 for a two year maintenance contract for my generator. Called three separate times to schedule service, but, despite assurances from Laurie, never received return phone calls to set up an appointment. During my last call with Laurie, I demanded my money back. Again, neither a check nor a return call was forthcoming. Looks like we're going to small claims court. The day started with Steve, Jerry, and Brendan, the plumber arriving right on time. They made a definitive appraisal of what needed to be done and advised me of such. I have a business that services the public as well and I can assure you all the three gentlemen were completely informative throughout the entire installation. I used this vendor for a Generac generator installation. Their post installation follow-up and maintenance service are highly irregular and unresponsive. Don't fall for their promises of always responding to the customer. They are very unorganized and never return calls. This week, I called their office 3 times since Wed & they took my message for Paul, the owner, but he never followed up or called back. Last week, I had to call them multiple times & send emails too until I finally heard back once. When their technician showed up & eventually left, he had left the top cover my generator open as if he was in a rush to run to the next job. This vendor is the perfect example of one that should go out of business and sell their entire business to a new owner who knows the basic rules for customer satisfaction and responsiveness! By the way, I just fired PLV & cancelled my recently paid 2-year maintenance contract too. read more

PLV Electric is the vendor used by Costco for their standby generator service. I applied online for a quote and never heard from them. Then I called Costco to follow-up and they verified my request went through and resubmitted it to PLV. I still never heard back so I called Costco again and was told that PLV put a note in there that I requested not to be contacted which was obviously not true. Costco resubmitted it again noting that I did want to be contacted for a quote and I still never heard from them. I called one more time to find out if Costco works with another vendor since I do not want to work with a vendor that is so unreliable. If they do not follow up on a quote request I can imagine what they are like if they do respond. Unfortunately Costco does not work with another vendor so I will look elsewhere for a reliable vendor.. read more

Have a maintenance contract with PLV for twice yearly service & emergency service response. After several calls & emails they still have not conducted the "spring" maintenance as of 7/26. They constantly give the run around & promise to call back with a scheduled date. Terrible customer service & totally unreliable. read more

I called them back in August to get my generator serviced, first question they asked if I purchased the unit for them. I stated no, so they told me that they were to busy, and call back in October. So I called them last week and the person took all my information and she said she would send me a quote for service. Well I have not received any quotes by mail or e-mail. I guest if you didn't purchase the unit for them they don't want your business. read more

PLV Electric (AKA NJ Generators) just finished installation of my Generac whole house generator and it was quickly inspected and approved by local building officials. Due to the high demnad and their very reasonable pricing, PLV took a while to install but once they had recieved shipment of my unit, their service and installation was prompt and professional.After receiving several proposals, I am glad I selected PLV as my installer and will continue to use them for my maintainence since I was very satisfied with them. read more

They drop you when you need them most! after using them for yearly maintenance of our 7500 gas generator, for which my bills are between $260 and $370, they don't give you an appointment when there's problem, just a few months after their yearly service - I guess they don't want to bother fixing things or acknowledge that they might have done something wrong! read more

Very good experience with them both on the phone setting the appointment and with the job. I had a malfunctioning light switch, they came out the next day and fixed it for a reasonable price and also explained what the problem was and how they were fixing it. read more

Their quote was comprehensive and detailed; competitive for the area! We negotiated the start date - they arrived on time - completed all of the work in one day. The kept the work areas clean, they removed all the debris and did a very good job. We have one minor punch list item which I am sure they will complete this week. We asked this contractor to come to our home to give us an estimate for a whole-house generator. They committed to a day (but no specific time) and then had not shown up by mid-day. I called them to ask if/when they were coming. The owner (Paul Vehling) told me that the rain the previous day had "totally affected his schedule" (I do not know if he intended to call me with that sad news) but that one of his people would be at our home that afternoon. That employee never showed up, nor did he call us. We have not gotten any followup call from this contractor to explain why they did not honor their commitment. From my experience, this contractor is totally unreliable and should be avoided at all costs. read more

We have searched far and wide for an electrician who would rectify a botched job on a previous generator installation. We had a generator installed immediately following Hurricane Irene. The company who performed the work did not pass inspection and just left the job unfinished . We called a few places and after speaking to a few people we found that Bill from PLV Electric was very courteous and responded very quickly to any questions and concerns that we had. He was very helpful and made us feel at ease. Bill told us that they would take care of everything and they did just that. The job was completed in two days and the inspections passed with flying colors. We could not have asked for more prompt and meticulous service. The electrician and plumber who was also on the job were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They made sure that they walked through everything with us and made sure that any questions were not left unanswered. We highly recommend PLV Electric to anyone who wants fair and courteous service!!!! read more
