Before the work began, I specifically requested a written cost estimate and clearly instructed the technician to remove the existing toilet and install a new replacement toilet, along with a new faucet. Instead, the technician recommended repairing the existing toilet, telling me it would be "much cheaper." I agreed to the repair based on that representation. I was subsequently charged $1,093.00, including $900 for four hours of labor at $225 per hour and $193 for parts, including a fill valve, flapper, toilet/bowl bolts, gasket, sealant, wax ring, and sink faucet. I was never provided with a written estimate before the work began or given an opportunity to approve a $1,093 charge. In my opinion, the amount charged was excessive for the work performed, particularly given the nature of the repairs and I could have purchased a brand new toilet at Home Depot for $94.00. To put the cost in perspective, I was informed that comparable Florida daytime plumbing rates are generally much lower than the $225-per-hour rate I was charged. This was routine toilet and faucet work, not specialized structural plumbing or complex repiping. To make matters worse, the repair was defective and left an active water leak, requiring the plumber to return the following day to address the problem. When I formally disputed the invoice and requested that the charges be reviewed and corrected, I was threatened with the possibility of a property lien rather than receiving a satisfactory resolution to the billing dispute. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mickey's Plumbing, Inc. Save yourself the headache, money, and risk of property damage--avoid this company at all costs.

When Joseph summarized the installation he did, he told us he installed the dishwasher correctly and it's level, but the dishwasher door doesn't open/close the way it should because the surrounding cabinets are warped due to water damage. He told us the garbage disposal is leaking, and he also told us how to dry everything out. My husband replaced the garbage disposal, but when we did a load of laundry (in the adjacent area) the kitchen floor became flooded. So, we called Perfect Plumbing again. Joseph researched the situation and told us that he needs to replace the old piping (~64 years old). That means he has to cut out the wall in a few places to get to the pipes--behind the fridge is a hole about 5.5'x2', by the washing machine is a hole about 5"x5", and under the sink is a hole about 4'x2'. He also created a new cleanout because the original cleanout is not very good. Joseph also installed a new waterline to go to our refrigerator. Before they left, Juan cleaned up everything very well. Joseph even removed the annoying remainder of the protective film that was stuck on the front of our new dishwasher door! Joseph is a very accomplished plumber and we would hire him again.

They installed my shower valve incorrectly and closed the wall without catching the error, leaving my new shower inoperable and voiding the manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturer, a 3rd party licensed contractor and plumber all confirmed the incorrect installation and that proper testing should have caught the problem before the wall was tiled. When I requested progress photos and pressure-test documentation, none was provided. Because my matching tile size had been discontinued, reopening the wall required demolishing and rebuilding the shower enclosure. I paid another plumber and tile contractor $10,618.27 to correct their work and restore my shower. Despite repeated calls, texts, and emails, the company provided no repair plan or resolution. After nearly two months, the owner contacted me only after I called the company's insurance broker to file a claim. He argued that I had ordered the wrong valve--even though the manufacturer confirmed that I had not--and still offered no solution. When I said I would file a complaint with the Florida DBPR, he accused me of "defamation" and said he would "make sure this goes to court." A plumbing mistake is bad enough. But after a brief chat She asked for me the for the brand name, when I told her it was GE filtration system that needed to be installed under the kitchen sink she still sounded clueless. She said she needed to send someone for $175 dollars visit fee to evaluate the job to be done. When finally she gave me a price quote; she said it would cost me $885 dollars for the new water filter installation. Bear in mind that I already bought the filtration small unit at Home Depot. The connection consist of two hoses. For that price I would rather watch a video in youtube and do it myself. The job should not take more than 20 minutes. This is the problem with plumbers nowadays, car mechanics and handy men alike in general. I feel like they just came out of prison and they are like predators; Just like judges, politicians, doctors are nowadays.
