Eric A.

First I would be leery of any company on solar that has a lot of reviews and they're all or mostly 5-star. No company is without problematic cases, and apparently I'm going to be the first for this one. What a shame, because this was easily rectifiable...I gave them more chances than they deserved. I first contacted them on June 3, 2020 for an estimate, that's 79 days ago from the time I'm writing this review. Because we've been screwed so many times by bad and incompetent contractors, I choose to get everything in writing, so I do all my correspondence with a company by email. Until now, I've never had a problem with a company complying with that. If a company really wants the business, they should do what it takes to secure a customer. If that means taking the time to type out and answer all of the customer's questions, that's what they should do....not whimper about having to spend the time. 8 days after asking for the estimate, Aurora Parssinen, head of operations, still had not replied, so I wrote again (my 3rd contact). She then asks me for a copy of my utility bill, something she should have asked for the week prior when I first wrote in. Sending in the utility bill is commonplace. I sent the bill (contact #4). Over a week later, still no response so I touch base (contact #5). No response from Aurora for another six days after that. She finally sends me an estimate, but it's solely based on my utility bill and looking at my roof from a satellite image online. They did NOT come out and look at my roof or measure it. I write back with 4 questions. (contact #6) She does answer them the next day, but I'm concerned that they haven't actually looked at the roof (and it is an odd roof as our house has had many additions). I suggest they come out and look at the roof (contact #7). No word back for 10 days and then I FINALLY hear from a Lauren M. Christy, production manager who says they can send someone the next day. I write back to confirm (contact #8). 2 days later they send the revised estimate, which isn't all that different than the first one. What's concerning about this, is this estimate still doesn't reflect the questions I brought up to them previously, or options that other solar companies have said they can do. There are areas of the roof that space-wise could accommodate more solar panels that they're not utilizing. So I write back with more questions. Now most people would be appreciative that a customer takes the time to write out the questions so that they don't have to formulate answers on the spot, and can take a reasonable amount of time to consider them and reply. Not PlugItIn Solar...keep reading. I hear nothing back for 2 weeks, so I write in again to find out what's going on (contact #9). 3 more days later, I get an email from Leeron (Lee) Dagan, Director of Sales and Operations. He does take the time to answer my questions briefly, and ends the email with "Let me know if you have any more questions." Well, I do! I also feel he hasn't accurately responded to my questions about "reverse tilt" panels, so I send a bunch of photos to illustrate what I mean. It took me a while to find all the photos and write it out, but I wanted to make sure he understood what I was getting at. Then, no reply for nearly a month. So I write in again (contact #10), wondering why I'm even giving this company so many chances to get this job. Lee writes back within an hour with "Sorry, it's been absolutely nuts its [sic] been hard for me to get back by email. When would be a good time to jump on a call and discuss?" So, here it comes. The used-car-salesman phone call to discuss, which really means he wants to tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about and it can't be done the way I want it...he has no intention of taking the time to research what I'm trying to accomplish, so he just wants to talk to me on the phone so there's nothing in writing that he's actually just complaining about having to do his job. I write back and tell him I need to do it in writing (contact #11). He writes back with: "there are too many variables and details over email to discuss." So he can say them, but he can't type them. "I don't have that kind of time working from home with a newborn." Ah....so I'm paying the price for him procreating. Potential customers, know that you come AFTER his childcare needs. "I get 40 emails just from 6:30 am to 12 pm that I have to respond to by 12 pm everyday [sic]." Cue the violins. He expects me to believe that he gets emails at 12 pm that have to be responded to by 12 pm, and yet he didn't respond to mine in a MONTH! Mmhmm....sounds like a load of malarky to me! So, I write back and say "OK, forget it then. If I'm not worth the time and effort, I'll go with another company, and write this up in my Yelp review." (Contact #12) More in attached photos. Also, none of the people I dealt with are listed as employees on the Contractor's State License Board website.

Thank you Lee and team! Working with plug it in solar was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Lee and his team build the perfect system for our home which included upgrading our panel, guided us through the entire process, and answered any question or concern we had promptly. The installation team was professional, kind, and most importantly they were respectful of my property. When the plug it in solar team left for the day the areas where they worked were as clean as they were when they got there. The communication was excellent and our project was completed on time as promised and we are happy with the amount our system is generating (we love that we can see this all in real time on the app) If you are considering solar companies I highly recommend Plug it in Solar!

Has a professional installation crew and executes flawlessly and everything stays on track. Incredible follow-up and will not try to upsell you like other installers. If you're looking to install solar, you should absolutely go with OneSun. Give Rose a call to at least get a consultation and I'm sure your interaction will immediately stand out from other installers. Installing solar is something I kept putting off. When I found out that the tax credit would be going away at the end of 2025, I realized I couldn't put it off any longer. One of the reasons I kept waiting was how annoying solar reps were. Clearly just sales guys who didn't actually know anything about the equipment, technology, and process. I did a bit of research on local installers and OneSun came up a few times, all with nothing but great things to say and especially highlighted the installer's knowledge and patience. Before reaching out to OneSun, I informed myself as much as I could to the point that I knew what panels I wanted, size system, even what inverters I wanted installed. My first phone call with Rose immediately proved that all of the positive feedback I had read was for a reason. She took the time to actually listen to the specifics of my project, what I was looking for, and what questions I still had based on my research. She took the time to answer every question and even went into the technical details that I was interested in. It was clear that she was extremely familiar with not just the logistics, but also exactly how a solar system works as well as the technical details of all of the components in a system. She had my business after that first meeting but of course I still did my due diligence and got a quote from one other local installer which also had similar reviews. Although the sales rep was very nice, it was clear that he was just a sales rep and only reinforced why OneSun was the installer to go with. OneSun's pricing happened to be better but even if the other installer would have come in at a cheaper quote, I would have still chosen OneSun for the install. Rose started the permit process in July and made sure that everything stayed on track, especially since I wanted to make sure that the system be on before the end of the year in order to qualify for the tax credit. The timelines she provided were right on point and the install was scheduled for September. About a week before the install date, there was an unexpected problem. The panels that were originally planned for my install had gone completely out of stock. There had been some kind of manufacturing issue and those panel would not be coming back in stock for another couple of months which could push the project out to the following year. Rose let me know she could acquire slightly larger panels for the project and install it on schedule. I was about to ask what the additional cost for the larger panels would be, but before I was able to, she let me know that there would be no additional cost to me. I'm sure any other installer would have used the situation as leverage to add additional cost to the project. A testament to Rose's commitment to her customers. On installation day, the crew was professional and efficient. They completed everything in one day and made sure to keep everything as clean and organized as possible. Towards the end of the install, I had noticed that they ran one of the grounding wires out from the attic and down the face of the house where I had planned on completing another project in the near future. I knew that the wire would need to be redirected if it was left there so I asked the foreman if he could run it through a different path. Initially he felt like it would not be possible given the layout. I reached out to Rose just to make sure and see if she possibly had another solution. About 10 minutes later the foreman showed me another possible option which was much better for what I needed. It may have seemed like a small thing, but that was another instance in which I believe any other installer would have dismissed my request as pickiness and told me there was nothing else they could do. Rose took the time to speak with her foreman and truly assessed the situation to come up with a solution that fit my needs. It took LADWP about 6 weeks to get my meter installed and for my system to be turned on, but it was still well before the end of the year (and yes, I just got my tax refund with that hefty solar tax credit). It's rare to come across someone like Rose who is honest, patient, and who truly has her customer's best interest at heart. Combine that with impeccable execution and communication, and there is no one else I would recommend for a solar install project. In fact, my parents are considering a small project and I've already told them about Rose/OneSun.

When I first contemplated getting solar panels for our house, the entire process looked daunting. I…read moredidn't know anything about the technology or equipment and I felt ill prepared to make any decisions about what our house needed. There are so many companies out there, it's hard to know who to trust. As soon as I did a few online searches, I was flooded with emails and texts from multiple companies with high pressure sales pitches. One company charged me $350 to do a site survey, just to get a quote for the project, then came back with a revised quote adding $7000 to dig a trench for electrical wiring due to "the location" of our electrical panel. I found OneSun on a yelp search and as soon as I spoke with Rose Avakian, I knew my search was over. This company stands out from the others. There was no sales pitch, pressure, or upsell. Rose explained the technology and equipment in a way that made it understandable and approachable. When her team came to look at our place, they found no need to dig a trench and simply connected to our existing electrical panel. Had they needed to dig a trench, the price they quoted was nowhere near $7000.  From start to finish, the entire experience was transparent, seamless, professional and expedient. The attention to detail and care the team put into making sure everything was done right far exceeded my expectations. If you're looking to go solar, look no further than Rose and OneSun. This is truly the best company I've ever worked with!

Their quote, plus their high reviews made them the logical choice, and we have no regrets. From the person who did the site inspection, Jose, to the installers, everyone seemed very friendly, respectful of our property/wishes, and it was clear they were experienced and knew what they were doing. Being up against a deadline, we really couldn't afford to fail the city inspection, and we passed easily. Thanks to the salesman Mark Howe for his direction, & to Henry Melling for a great design and implementation. We were not excited at the idea of having all that stuff on the side of our house, but honestly, the installation was so neatly done, with a few plants added over there, I'm sure we can acclimate. The battery placement in the garage was genius -- up and out of our way! Everything is functioning as it should, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend California Solar & Electric. If you go with this company, 100% ask for Mason to be your sales rep. Avoid Eddie at all costs as he won't respond to you after you sign your agreement...Because of this, Management actually switched my contact person to Mason, and I am forever grateful for that. Mason is attentive and he was the best with responding to questions and concerns. And when I had concerns about delays in my project, I would email him and it would be fixed right away. The solar industry is one where many people have a lot of questions, uncertainty in effectiveness, and aren't sure if it's right for them. And people in general don't trust solar companies and sales people. It takes time to complete a solar project from contract to actually generating electricity for the home. For me, I decided to go with solar because the 30% tax credit was ending (and now that I actually see results, it's worth it even without the tax credit). However, since I was in a tight window to get everything completed before December 31st, I was very nervous as to if the project would be done on time. if it wasn't for my persistence, and for Mason's help, I don't think it would have been done Before December 31st and I would have been very upset and lost out on the tax credit. So again, GO WITH MASON at Solar Optimum, you won't regret it. If I get another home, I will 100% use this company again, and would 100% ONLY work with Mason. I also added a picture to show how much solar has been generating for me in just over a week in the middle of December (the worst for sunlight). It's right at optimal generation for this time of year and look forward to no more electric bills.

A lot of time passed by without hearing back. Then I was told the solar panels that I had agreed to are no longer available. They replaced them with cheaper options. Later on, they said the replacements were no longer available and switched them again to a cheaper option. I received an email on 10/28/25 saying the solar panels are ready for installation. Then I didn't receive an update until 12/10/25 asking for information that I had already confirmed via phone call, the clearance from solar panels as well as the panels being permitted. Then I received an email on 12/23/25 asking for this confirmation again. I sent a follow up, and did not hear back from Eddie until 12/27/25. He gave me a call and told me that Solar Optimum is unable to complete the installation by the end of the year, making me ineligible for the tax credit. He suggested claiming the system was installed/invoiced in my taxes, which is tax fraud as the tax credit makes it explicitly clear that it needs to be installed and powered by 12/31/25. On Dec 30th, he said he would update me within 2 weeks. 2 weeks elapsed and no update was given. At the end of my experience with Solar Optimum, I was took a loan that was no longer needed which ran my credit which has negative implications for my credit score. I also missed out on thousands in tax credit as well as future long term savings. There was misrepresentation regarding what the company had to offer and so far the company has not offered any option to rectify the situation. Will never do business with this company and strongly advise against using their services. The only option remaining is if they are able to discount the panels by the amount of tax credit I have missed out on, which will be my desired resolution requested.

We did a lot of research going into this project and had a pretty specific vision of what we wanted -- including battery storage, system sizing, and long-term efficiency. The team was receptive to that from day one and worked with us instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all solution. Communication was solid throughout the process. As with any solar project, there were a lot of moving parts (permitting, inspections, utility coordination), but they kept things moving and were responsive whenever we had questions. Installation itself was clean and professional. The conduit runs and equipment placement were well done, and everything looks neat and intentional -- which definitely matters for a system you'll be living with long-term. We also appreciated how they handled the more complex parts of the project, including battery integration and working with LADWP for interconnection and net metering. That process can get confusing, but they helped guide it through to completion. System has been up and running smoothly, and we're already seeing the benefits in terms of reduced grid usage and better control over our energy. Shoutout to Omar and the team for getting us across the finish line. If you're looking for a company that's knowledgeable, flexible, and able to handle a more customized setup, Treepublic is a solid choice.

Unfortunately, our experience has not reflected that promise. When I asked some simple questions prompted by my accountant, all communication stopped. After escalating directly to Mr. Nasser, our calls and emails have gone unanswered. We have documentation supporting our concerns and have sent a registered letter in an effort to resolve this matter privately and professionally. Our preference is always direct communication and correction, rather than escalation. Before proceeding with any installer -- or if you have already completed a project -- we recommend independently verifying: * Sales Tax: Double-check invoices. Were you charged sales tax improperly? Contact CDTFA for guidance (https://cdtfa.ca.gov) * SGIP Incentives: Verify your rebate application status directly through https://www.selfgenca.com and "Check My Application Status." * Permission to Operate (PTO): Confirm with your utility that your system was not energized prior to official approval. * Battery Configuration: Ensure discharge settings comply with manufacturer specifications to avoid premature degradation. We remain open to resolving this promptly and will update this review once we receive a substantive response.
