I had the good fortune to spend 3-4 months in Thailand, many years ago, and developed a taste for the food - even taking an intensive full-day cooking class while there. Ever since, I've tried "American" Thai every chance I get. I was overjoyed to see a Thai restaurant opening 5 minutes from home and it does not disappoint! The owner is warm, friendly and outgoing - the food was outstanding - the Tom Kah Gai, Tom Yung Kung, Green Curry, Pad Cashew Nut - Thai Iced Tea and Mango Sticky Rice dessert - we loved every bite and had plenty left over to bring home. I'm glad for two things. 1) I finally tried Thai food and I love it. 2) I literally live in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. The family planned on going out to dinner but we all felt a little lazy so we decided on takeout. I took the liberty of ordering for the family. We got the crab fried rice, dumplings, crazy noodle, and basil duck. They were all very good. The duck was a heat level 3 and the noodles level 2. My wife is not a huge spice person. She enjoyed both heat levels. The employees are so sweet. The experience would've been a five but I ordered chicken and shrimp in the crazy noodle and only got shrimp. This restaurant does not show up on the Yelp searches for the Moorestown/Cherry Hill areas, since it is a little farther Northeast, so I had not known about it until I stumbled upon it recently. I was pleasantly surprised to find it, so my wife and I thought we would try it for lunch. She had Ginger chicken which she enjoyed. I decided to try two appetizers instead of an entree. The papaya salad was very good, and the fresh rolls were the best I have had since Umpasra (sp.) in Cherry Hill shut down a few years ago. I had two minor quibbles - I wish the rolls order was larger - since they were great, and I prefer a peanut sauce instead of a sweet sauce. Everything had that great Thai food freshness, and they adjusted the heat levels to our liking. We will definitely be back. read more

I bought the fried rice with chicken and tom yum soup with shrimp. The fried rice was very mushy and tasteless. The tom yum soup was okay, I definitely had better. One order I figured I would order over the phone an hour in advance and my order was still not ready when I went to pick it up and still had to wait an additional 45 minutes for my order. This is great Thai food. As a small family style restaurant , Ploy Siam offers wonderful food cooked with care and detail. We dined in, with a large party. The food was delicious but service is choppy. We needed to request plates for our appetizers, and our meals arrived at different intervals. It's very family friendly and there is something for everyone since you get to pick how spicy you would like your dish to be. My husband is always searching for new places and saw the Yelp notice for Ploy Siam. Though it is a bit out of the way for us, I'm always down for Thai food so we visited on a Friday night. They've only been open a short time and the service reflected that. The friendly single server was trying to work both the front of the house and the kitchen and one of the cooks delivered food to tables and got us menus. After we placed our order, a pair of family members arrived to work in the dining room. Even so, two plates of appetizers were walked around the dining room before they found their correct diners. We had made sure to indicate spice levels when we ordered, but hubby found his Pad Se Ew a bit hotter than he was prepared for but he liked the plentiful authentic broccoli and chicken. My M12 shrimp was spot on spicy hot and delicious. Thai coffee and Thai iced tea cooled the heat perfectly. Do not, I repeat, do not miss the mango and sticky rice dessert! It's DEVINE! And if you don't like certain veggies in your dish (our server noticed all the string beans plucked out on my plate) she suggested asking for them to customize your entree to include more of the veggies you do prefer. She was very sweet to notice. I've given my review 4 stars but I'm sure once the serving/staffing issues are worked out I'll be able to up that to a five. read more
