Purchased bird bath in February 2026 and put it out in March 2026. It doesn't keep water. I called store and explained situation that I have my bank statement showing purchase but not actual receipt. Owner would not allow me to exchange item for replacement bird bath without store receipt. Customer Service at this Madison VA locale doesn't exist. I called Plow & Hearth MONDAY who told me the 5th pillow would arrive sometime between Wednesday and Saturday. I told them to Cancel it, they said the couldn't cancel it and I could return it when I received it. Fed. Ex dropped the box at my door wihout my knowledge today - or I would have refused delivery. I called Plow and Hearth who wanted me to pay $6.95 for Me to Print a Return label!!! There was no mention of this during the order. process. I'm Furious- what nonsense. Great place for lots of stuff I have only ordered on line but someday will visit the actual store !

Plow & Hearth has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. It's so bad, it doesn't even qualify as customer "service" because they did absolutely nothing to assist me. I contacted them via email to get more details on a product that they sell, but they refused to provide me with the details that I needed. So then I asked them if they would be willing to waive the return shipping fee if the product does not meet safety regulations, to which they also refused. Finally, I asked them if they could provide me with the name of the manufacturer so that I could reach out to them directly for the information that I needed, which they also refused to provide me with. So instead of offering to reach out to the manufacturer to find out the information that I needed, and instead of doing the right thing by offering to waive the return shipping fee, they refused to help me no matter how much I tried to work with them. Plow & Hearth clearly takes no pride in their customer service, and clearly does not care about getting customers, because I have no intention of buying from them now. read more

I bought a rug along with 5-6 of the Accent Rugs to match. I had to send it back because it developed a hole I. the the size of a 50 cent piece. i i was sent the same rug and would have to empty the vacuum cleaner 4-6 times every time it was swepted. was fighting cancer for the 5th time and had my second heart attack during this time. I was just diagnosed again last week. I called Plow and Hearth and they send my email to the supplier who refused to exchange my rug DUE TO CARPET BEETLES, my dog has bites from the carpet beetles. The exterminator examined the beetles underneath a microscope and sure enough they were carpet beetles which has eaten away at least the size of an 8x10, which they drug to my closets and built their nest out of wool. DO NOT BUY ANY RUGS FROM HERE. I am sure they are all EATEN up with Capet beetles. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY A RUG FROM PLOW AND HEARTH. They will not give you the name of the supplier either. i have spent lots of money at this store over the years, but they will only get 50 cents, which was the size of the first rug that was eat up with carpet beetles. I give them a 1 star rating when they deserved a ZERO. read more

Plow and Hearth has decent items and as long as there are no problems, you are fine. But if you have a problem, they have some of the worst customer service going. They do not respond to emails, you can wait almost 40 minutes on hold to speak with someone and then give up. When you do keep calling and get a representative, they are neither helpful nor pleasant and will do nothing to resolve your issue. I sent a gift to our son's new home address and transposed the street number. As soon as I was alerted to the problem by FedEx I made numerous attempts to get it corrected by Plow and Hearth so it could be re-delivered correctly. Plow and Hearth did NOTHING. And then had the gall to tell me that the package had been delivered despite the fact that I was told that it was being held at a FedEx facility and ONLY Plow and Hearth as the shipper could make the changes to the address. Despite telling Plow and Hearth that FedEx said that they would be willing to make the changes so that my granddaughter could receive her present for the holidays, Plow and Hearth said they couldn't contact FedEx. They meant that they WOULDN'T. FedEx was ready to help within their limited guidelines but Plow and Hearth could have cared less. And when I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that there were none. During the holiday gift-giving season?! read more

the customer service is non-existant. There were four women behind the counter yakking. They ignored us and everyone else. I refuse to buy in stores that have such little interest in their customers. read more

I ordered a fireplace screen from them, but when I got it, it just didn't look as good as in the pictures. It cost $45 to have it shipped, which is ridiculous, but it looked like a good fit, so I went with it. (other fireplace screens I ordered online had FREE shipping). I ended up returning it, and they charged $6 for that. So I'm out $51 total for shipping! So I will never buy anything from them again because their shipping costs are way too high. read more

As much as I like Plow and Hearth, store employee's behavior and attitude reflect back on the business. The employees at this location gave a bad impression. No greeting when I entered the store, immersed in their loud conversation using vulgar language. Unfriendly. Did not feel comfortable shopping there which was a shame as the store was not at all busy. In my home state of NJ, the staff at that location were friendly, helpful and welcoming. What a stark difference. I wont be returning to this location. read more

I could not be happier with the service I received from the Plow and Hearth. I corresponded with the customer service department about my displeasure with product(s) I had purchased. The customer service department responded quickly and to my great 100% satisfaction. Have dealt with them for years and will continue to do so. Thanks Plow and Hearth and keep up the great work! I spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get an order placed. The website advertised 25% off everything for a few days. I picked out one item and was trying to apply the code online which didn't work. The operator didn't understand me, and I didn't understand her. I asked for her to input the order for me, and was put on hold. After 35 minutes, I was told she couldn't get a hold of Plow and Hearth internal service center. (I guess hers is external?). The solution was to tell me to try on the website later, and maybe it will work. She couldn't do anything on her end. What a waste of time. I actually went back that evening and got the code to work; however, when they added the REDICULOUS shipping fee (Everyone else ships for free these days, and with the economy out of control, you'd think a supposed family business would do the same). By the time that was calculated, I cancelled the order. Never again! read more

Today I had the opportunity to speak with Joy in their customer service department. After a long Christmas weekend without being able to enter my order online I called. Shopping for your elderly parents for Holidays can be very hard. I was searching high and low to find something that I enjoyed giving and would also bring a smile to their face for Christmas. I happened upon a delightful website full of unique and whimsical items for your yard and home. Bird feeders, wind chimes, bird baths, solar stakes, and many other things. I was able to find a cute little frog planter driving a red convertible car which is so totally me---yeah they probably just shook their head when they opened it up but I bet they will be sitting on their porch this summer admiring it and thinking of me and they will be the only ones in the neighborhood with anything like it. read more

I ordered some iron fencing, prices are bit expensive, but I needed something sturdy. They charged me as soon as I placed the order, I usually get charged once item is shipped. But this was my first ever order from this company. Order was delayed, due to high demand. Finally received and it did not meet my expectations, I sent them back for a refund, I knew ahead of time that my return would be minus the return label charge. I was also shorted for original shipping charges that they do not mention on their return policy. (Once we receive your return, we'll credit you for the cost of the original item less the return shipping fee of $6.95.) Original cost to me is what I actually paid. This place has terrible customer service, you cannot even find your order history, I had to keep putting my own order number to find any order whatsoever. I started this fiasco in mid April, I finally got a portion of my money back 20th of June. Save yourself the headache, go to Home Depot read more

Don't even waste your time. What is actually listed for sale is not what is shown. Ex: Topsale Sofa SET listed for clearance, the photo shows an outdoor sofa set, 2nd web pages show the same products as a SET, description & measurements of each piece are listed as the SET. Try to order that SET--it is only a single chair that is being sold for that price, NOT THE SET. They claim the SET is sold out so only the chair is available--but nobody bothered to take down the SET. Spoke w 2 supervisor and the Executive Assist.--they will talk to someone about taking that offer down, it is a "mistake". They said that most companies advertise this way. No one offered to replace a real SET comparable to what is advertised. You either have the product or you don't. Stop falsely advertising and lying to the public! read more

If zero stars were an option, I would give this a zero rating. While I liked the product I saw online, this company does not communicate with its vendors, promises shipping and doesn't deliver and has an uninformed staff manning customer service. If you like what you see here, don't order it from this company - find it somewhere else. I ordered a product three weeks in advance, paid extra for shipping and when it didn't arrive on the date it was guaranteed, it took a full week to get answers. No, they did not contact me, I had to continue to call them back. The answer I got - 'Oh, we just found out this product is four months back ordered". I was told this FOUR WEEKS after placing my initial order and guaranteed 5-7 days shipping. Plain and simple, this is a poorly operated business - don't buy from them. read more

I ordered a Prospect Hill Wicker Set for my patio. Nothing in the catalog description mentioned anything about the purchaser being responsible for unloading the furniture (settee, two chairs, and a coffee table) from the delivery truck. I am a 72-year woman, live alone, in a rural area, with no family, friends, or neighbors who can unload furniture from the truck. The purchase took over 3-weeks to be delivered, and I was notified that I was responsible for unloading the truck 4 days before delivery was estimated. I contacted the company, and got a return email saying, essentially, it could not help me and I was responsible for unloading the truck. Also, to return the products, I need an order #, which is not reported in communications from Plow and Hearth. I will NEVER order anything from Plow and Hearth again. This is them most customer unfriendly company I've dealt with in a very long time. read more

I have received a catalog every month for the past 9 months and have found some very interesting items available. I consider this a place to shop for someone who has everything because a majority of their products are incredibly unique. With this being said, I placed an order in MARCH for a Lighted American Flag Art for a Mother's Day gift. On May 1, I contacted their customer service because the item had not been received, nor had my credit card received a charge for the purchase. It was at this time that they informed me that the item was on 'back-order'. I asked when they had planned on, if ever, notifying me that the item was on 'back-order' and was told that an e-mail was sent. No such e-mail was ever received. I then cancelled the order because their expected date for delivery was not until June 1. Four days later (May 5) I attempted to order the item with hopes that I could have it delivered for Father's Day. Again, I was told the item was on back order, and would not be available until - get this - July 9. In four days the expected delivery time has increased by well over 30 days. So, today in the mail I received the July catalog and once again this item is featured. I phoned to see if the item was available and was told it was on 'back order' until August 13 ... I went to their website and thru a 'live chat' was told the item is on 'back order' until August 5 ... a second phone call and I'm told that they will be available July 13th ... THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! read more

I like so much of what Plow & Hearth sells. I only wish it wasn't as expensive as it is but we can't have everything. I understand some other reviewers' frustration with customer service -- I had an incident a few years back where I ordered a rug and changed my mind within 15 minutes. Alas, that was on a Sunday and customer service was closed at the time. There was nothing I could do but wait til it was delivered and then send it back. But my other orders have gone through just fine. They sell cute things and I always get all excited when I see their catalog. My life is that sad. I just wish they'd open more stores nearby and price things a bit cheaper. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I bought a gift card for my wife and it was impossible to use. After about three attempts she gave up. I called them to request the money back; they said yes -- after being put on hold a long time -- and that they'd refund it. Then nothing happened. For about a month. I called again, today. I was put on hold for a long time after I explained the situation. They then told me that she should use the "PIN number" in addition to the card number. The card number, by the way, is 19 characters long. The PIN is another 4. I said that wasn't what I was calling about and we wanted our money back. The Customer Service rep asked if I was "wanting to void the card then?" I said yes, and she asked me to be on hold some more. I said I was unwilling to be on hold any longer and would -- instead -- post this honest review while waiting for my money back. Do NOT give your hard-earned money to these people! AVOID!!!!! UPDATE, 12/21/2015 -- I called again; was put on hold two more times and....they refuse to refund the money. I told them I'd be reporting this -- as THEFT -- online and on social media and they said they WILL not refund the money. read more

After waiting over a month and attempting to contact the company several times, i finally sent an email through their system to cancel the order. Nearly two months later, the product arrives at my doorstep and they charge my credit card. I immediately call customer service and a very friendly lady apologizes stating the delay was due to weather. She states she will send a return shipping label and refund the charge once the item is received. I guess that label must be on the same slow boat from China because over a week later I've not received anything. To note, i bought the same product from another online company that is also located in the same general area and received it a week later, so I'm not buying the story about the weather. Please avoid this company... and don't believe me... just do a search online for reviews on them. I think you'll get the picture. read more

Don't bother ordering anything from this Company! It has been a nightmare to try and get an replacement for a table that was busted up when it was shipped to my house for a Christmas Gift. Been without a table for almost over a month. I have called every week and have been told every week the table is being shipped. They don't bother giving you the shipping tracking number or the shipping company. Now they are saying it was shipped thru freight and has been lost. You have got to be kidding me. Don't give Plow & Hearth your e-mail! They will in turn give it to ever subsidiary they have. Don't use the unsubscribe buttons on their site - they don't work. I ordered the classic water resistant eucalyptus chaise lounge #36719. It arrived in a thin cheap cardboard box with out corner protection of any kind. The lounge was cracked down the side piece. Online chat help is absolutely useless. We purchased an eucalyptus bench this past weekend and when we tried to assemble it - it was missing all of the brass hex head screws necessary to hold the seat on to the bench proper. I contacted the corporate online chat and was told that unless I could prove that I purchased my bench from them via my order number (I didn't order it, it was purchased in a store) that they would not help me in any way with the missing parts. I'm not trying to steal a couple of screws, I just want to assemble my bench. If the bench didn't match all of the other furniture that I have purchased from them, I would be returning it. Instead (according the then online help) I now have to make additional time to go to the store where I purchased the item (30 miles from my house) and plead with them for the missing parts. read more

Purchase (4) sets of Solar Post Cap Lights at $49.95 ea. Listed in catalog as a Plow & Hearth EXCLUSIVE. Within (1) day of receiving my purchase I received the Improvements catalog and the same item was in that catalog for $39.99 per set. Called customer service to see what could be done and was told they would not make any kind of adjustment. I was not asking for the same lower price. I was told to return the purchase for a full refund minus the $21.99 shipping cost. This is very poor customer relations. I ordered two bulb gardens from Plow and Hearth on December 9th, which they said would ship within 1 - 2 weeks. After checking on the status last week, nothing had changed. I called the company and was assured that the bulb gardens would be delivered to the two recipients before Christmas. When I checked my order status this morning, it still says "Processed - Sent For Fulfillment ". I just called again and was told that the vendor does not have any more stock. The company representative apologized, but that doesn't explain why anyone from Plow and Hearth has never contacted me to let me know that my order was not going to be completed. They certainly have had time to send me daily advertising emails. This is ridiculous; with five days until Christmas, it's too late to send two 90+ year old ladies a gift in time. A supervisor is supposed to call me back; I'm not holding my breath! I will NEVER order from Plow and Hearth again. read more

After placing an order with a customer service rep, I wanted to confirm delivery timeframe because the order was a birthday present. She stated 1 -2 weeks, just as the online catalog stated. Approximately a week later, I called back because I found it odd I did not receive an email nor was able to track the shipment myself through their website because the original cs rep mispelled my name....no biggie. But, the items I was told did not ship yet because they were coming directly from the manufacturer, but not to worry they would still arrive within the stated 1 to 2 weeks delivery time. I called back on day 15 (still unable to track the shipment myself), and this customer service rep told me that the item just shipped yesterday and is in Pennsylvania (mind you, I live in Arizona ) and the day it shipped was the day after it was supposed to arrive at my house. When I asked of there was a way to contact UPS and expedite it, the cs rep said no. When asked what my recourse was now that the present will jot be here in time, I was told all I could do was refuse the shipment. There was no attempt at service recovery, expedited shipping, or refunds at this time. I did let the cs rep know that I would no longer be conducting business with them, and filed a complaint with the BBB. I ordered 20 days before the bday party, was told twice that it would be here within 1 to 2 weeks, and still nothing. read more

I ordered and received an outdoor bistro set. It arrived a week later all crumpled and box totally torn so I didn't even unwrap it. UPS were back the next day to take it away and I ordered a replacement. A week later, in fact today, I received the replacement. So now two weeks have passed since this set was ordered. It arrived slightly crumpled, so I unwrapped it and it appears to be fine except it has no hardware with it. On telephoning the company I was told 'we don't express or overnight things' so you will have to wait five business days to receive your hardware via UPS (another week) . I might add, the hardware missing are eight black nuts to screw the table together!! I think after spending over four hundred dollars, the least this company can do is overnight a very small package so that I can put together what I paid for two weeks ago. I was also told, there was nothing the agent could do, all she does is pass on messages!! I think its disgusting that there is no customer service, even though they advertise customer service, what they really mean is we will talk to our customers, but we may not help you!! This company is too big and don't care about the individual customer. And since they don't care about their customers, I will no longer be one. read more

I purchased the Tree of Life arbor from Plow and Hearth earlier this spring. The description of the arbor does not state that 7" of height is lost when it is installed into the ground. This does make a difference as to where the arbor is installed. It is a beautiful arbor, but shorter then I had expected. I submitted a review to Plow and Hearth asking that they make this clear in their description of the arbor, but they have chosen not to publish my review. I had also complimented how beautiful the arbor was. I sent them an email a couple of weeks after my review was submitted asking why my it hadn't been published or their description of the item corrected and they never responded. I now know that their product reviews cannot be trusted, since they are obviously picking and choosing what reviews are published. It is very frustrating when a merchant fails to respond to a customers concerns. read more

I had one of the WORST customer service experiences ever with Plow & Hearth this week. I purchased a 7 piece outdoor dining online for approximately $1500 which required a $220 shipping fee. I thought the shipping fee was a lot considering many places like Costco and Home Depot will deliver for free but I loved the set so I bought it. THEN came the bad news... a follow up email about my delivery said the driver was only responsible for bringing the table and chairs to the back of the truck. I called customer service to inquire about this (esp considering the $220 shipping fee I paid) ... immediately I got a RUDE and OBNOXIOUS response. The rep talked over me, repeating that it was right there on the product page (which it wasn't - it was behind a link that simply said 'Motor Freight'). She treated me so unkindly it was practically laughable that this woman was in Customer Service. I will NEVER BUY from Plow & Hearth again unless they can address the problem and give me something other than a GENERIC apology which is what I received on Facebook! read more
