There isn't much in the way of dining in the charming but sleepy fishing town of Plockton, so we settled on a quick bite at the hotel just a short walk from our Airbnb. Turned out to be a solid decision. While the main dining room was tied up, they seated us in a pub-like area at the back where some locals were watching football, playing darts, and chatting over pints with their dogs on standby. The salmon "smokies," delicious smoked fish in a ramekin with a creamy garlic-tomato mixture and a breadcrumb crust, was fantastic and would absolutely get that again. I had the fresh catch of the day, the identity of which I can't recall now, but it had a lovely sear on the skin and was buttery and well-cooked. They have a small selection of local beer, so don't forget to wash your meal down with a pint or two. Our waitresses were funny and amicable, and the meal felt like the type of "slice of life" experience you want as a tourist hoping to appreciate local culture in an unadulterated form.

The food was okay, but my mother's chicken was a little dry. It's a bit fancy, but they were patient with us despite our etiquette being different from theirs. I tried to look up the etiquette before we came to Scotland & I did my best to stick to it, but my mother in law is from an older generation where she thinks she can act how she wants no matter whose "home" (or country) she is in. They were surprisingly really calm about it- not sure I would have been so if I were in their shoes.

Since we were staying the night at the hotel, we decided to have dinner in their restaurant in which the main dining room was reserved for their hotel guests. They offered daily specials along with their normal dinner menu. I had a vegetable leak soup and my wife had fried Calamari as a starter. My wife ordered the seafood platter which offered a large variety of fresh local seafood which included crab legs, muscles, scallops and small fish. I had the Beef & Whiskey our with chips and a medley of cooked vegetables. Both meals were served in generous portions and had outstanding flavor. The service was very friendly and attentive. The hotel also has a pub that serves off of the same menu for lunch and dinner. Highly recommended for seafood lovers, I would not hesitate to dine here again. #plocktonrestaurants #plocktonpubs #plocktonseafood

This city had been recommended by the owner of our B&B. The town is lovely but if you want to eat something, the choice is quite limited. This place looks like a traditional Scottish pub. The food is fine with "real" fish. However, we had to ask for the sauce and the taste is ok but not exceptional. I rated it 3 stars as there is interesting range of Scottish beers, among them the Highland Amarillo that I really appreciated. Finally, the staff was very friendly and gave me additional information regarding this beer.

HARRY POTTER FANS, listen up: This hotel is WALKING DISTANCE from the Harry Potter Bridge here in Glenfinnan. You know the one. FLying car, chamber of secrets, Hogwarts express? Yeah, that's right!! NOT ONLY THAT, but it is right on Lock Shiel which, in addition to being absolutely stunning, is the lake that Hogwarts is on. Compare pictures to this lake to photos from the second task(mermaids) from Goblet of Fire....you will SCREAM! Enough about Harry Potter. This hotel is quaint, homey, and incredibly warm and lively. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs and desires are met. From the included breakfast every morning to the offering of packed lunches for your daily hikes the team here is a cut above the rest. The rooms are large with beautifully updated, modern washrooms and showers. The tea kettles and assortment of coffee and teas(in room) are brilliant and the perfect touch. The main dining area/restaurant is delicious with terrific daily specials. The bar area/casual dining area is just as great and features traditional, Scottish, live music some nights. This place will remain at the TOP of my list not only for myself but for recommendations to anyone that may ask. Thank you to the brilliant team behind this beautiful hotel.

I almost had to give a one…read more.. But I think because of the professionalism with the service and the decor and what not, I didn't think it was a complete miss. I have had way worster experiences and I feel like these reviews are more for the hotel itself rather than just the restaurant itself so I do want to be somewhat fair. With all that being said... I can't confidently recommend the restaurant here. The Caesar salad was literally the only thing that was somewhat edible. I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. Maybe that's just all the people know? It'd be really sad if that was actually the case. My only hope is that the staying there for the night is an actual 5 star experience.

When we checked in the lovely girl came outside to greet us. It was the sweetest hotel check in ever!! Our room was lovely. There's a huge living room with a fireplace that they lit downstairs. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was superior. They rent out the whole place for weddings and I'm trying to talk my best friend into getting married there it was so great.

Because the weather was a bit inclement, we appreciated their bar and lounge area. We are both avid hikers, and the staff very helpfully gave us directions/information about spots to visit. Their chef is fantastic, we had a superb meal in their dining room. They also introduced me to my new favorite breakfast, porridge with a shot of Scotch. Our next stop after the Isle of Skye was Iona, and when it came time to leave the ferry stop was a short drive down the road. The drive, and necessary ferry rides, by the way, were fantastic.

The service and head waiter are very polite but the kitchen is very slow. An older group of 8 staying at the hotel actually walked out of their meal before dessert because it took too long. The only other guests besides ourselves, two couples, each waited 30 minutes for their desserts. The waiters and the bar could be better coordinated. Wine is a little pricey for the quality. In terms of food, I had the ham hock terrine, the Aberdeenshire sirloin steak, and the sticky toffee pudding. The terrine is a bit like corned beef mash and not bad. The steak, ordered medium rare, came out a little more done than medium rare and was not a sirloin. The sticky toffee pudding was not bad, a little overly sweet. My friends got the salmon and the scallops. The scallops were absolutely great. The salmon that came as an appetizer was an imaginative dish: hot salmon on top of cold salmon. The salmon that came as an entree was satisfactory and better than the steaks.
