I almost can't write this because what if the affordable, quaint, rooms with a killer location get so busy I can't stay there during my next Skye visit. Oh well, they deserve the business :)
This Inn saved and made our trip....quite literally. We really needed a spot in Portree (since we weren't renting a car on Skye) and after not having any luck on hotel booking websites, and emailing a few other bnb (found through good ol Internet searching), another bnb recommended I emailed this spot. Without knowing where they were located, I received an email about an opening. We'll take it! It was only then that I found out they were right on the scenic quay, one of the colored buildings...and blue, my favorite color! Not only that but they were used in the movie Made of Honor as the place (exterior) the hen party goes too. I love that movie!
So, on to our experience....You check in at the pub when you arrive and climb up narrow steps yo your room. The rooms are pretty small, but they are clean, with comfy beds and a view of the boats in the harbor. The shower can be tricky, but what's new traveling through Scotland bnbs. We had a very poor night sleep the first night due to some drunk patron knocking on our door / trying to open it several times during the wee hours, thinking it was their room. In the morning the staff apologized (apparently it happened to many of the guests) but there was no other compensation. The breakfast was standard Scottish cooked breakfast, but it was easily the most delicious of other bnbs we stayed in.
I have to say, it was lovely breezing past tourists waiting to eat in their dining room, as we went up to our own cozy beds with takeout from the nearby chipper (they double as a restaurant and pub during the day/night). Can't wait to return! read more
