HOW IS THIS RATED A 4 STAR HOTEL?! TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
Let's start with how I called to inform the desk clerk/receptionist about our arrival time to assure someone would be available (just in case) and that dinner would still be available by the time we projected our arrival (8-9 range). We were told no problem at all so we relaxed and didn't stop for dinner along the way.
We arrive to a hotel that has no parking available for their guests, not even an area to pull up while you check-in. We had a lot of luggage traveling around the country for 2 weeks with no where to park! Receptionist tells us there is free parking a 5 min walk away, down a hill, over by some hostel. Are you kidding me? While I wait in our rental car parked illegally on a street, husband checks into our "cottage", their most expensive room. After getting some of our luggage to the room, husband cannot lock the door. After 20 minutes with no success, receptionist has to be called for help. She cannot lock the door either so has to wait in the cottage while husband retrieved the remainder of luggage. Now I can finally search for a parking space in town which took quite some time, especially with all the one way streets. So fun! At this point, we are so hungry and come back to our cottage to be informed by the receptionist that the restaurant is booked up for the evening!!! Why the hell were we not informed of this when I called hours earlier or she put us down with a reservation?! Not happy at all but asked her to please recommend a place we can eat and she tells us nothing in town is still serving dinner! We beg her to find a way to squeeze us in to the restaurant and she now tells us that it's closed! Regardless, it didn't matter because the lock on the front door continued to have issues and could not be locked so we couldn't leave our cottage unattended. We were trapped with no where to go because they were booked up solid with no other room to put us in. This cottage is right on a street with their bar a stone throw away from our front door, directly across the street, so anyone could walk right into our cottage and walk right out with our luggage, etc. The chef was so kind to do us a favor (sarcasm) and offer us 3 different cold cheese sandwich options and a bowl of soup which they had to deliver to our room, since we were prisoners, and then had the nerve to charge us for this "food"!
Cottage was uncomfortable with very low ceilings, crappy cheap furniture, check out the photo of the couch, literally has a bar sticking out the top back that you feel while sitting on it. Floors are unbelievably slippery and the spiral staircase moves and feels like it's going to crumble as you are on it, which is the only access to your uncomfortable bed. And the water only stays hot for a quick, 5 min shower. My poor husband had to take a cold shower after mine. Receptionist warned us beforehand about this "issue". Morning comes and our only real view is a tiny one from downstairs that is shared mostly looking at a DUMPSTER. Oh, and you can hear everything on the street that literally your door opens to, your other view I forgot to mention. Again, check out the photos. Had to then retrieve our car to pack up the luggage before breakfast, so that we could eat in the restaurant. Thank god I only booked us one night in this nightmare! Oh, and the receptionist tells us she tried to find someone to come fix our lock so we could sleep peacefully but had no luck since it was the weekend. By the way, had to move furniture and put things in the doorway so we could sleep knowing if someone entered while sleeping we would hopefully hear them. After all of this, only a 10% discount on the "room charge" was offered. Charged us for our sandwiches and breakfast. This room wasn't even rentable. Why are they selling this horrible space??!! And for $300/night. We have asked for a full refund and I will update based on the results. We booked this through American Express Platinum travel, ummmm, how did this hotel get out on their site?! Good luck if you choose to stay here! read more
