The tortilla maker always waved at me as I watched at the tortillas flying off the conveyor belt. He quickly wrapped a pound of toasty tortillas and handed it to me. I frequent La Hacienda for quick grabs between my weekly grocery trips to HEB or Fiesta. It's like a supermarket in a convenient store's footprint. Since I have not tried taqueria, I can't speak about it.

The taste of the tamales is made fresh every day and the recipe is authentic. My family each time we travel to Houston we buy 4+ dozens of the pork-chili, chicken-green salsa, and my new favorite cheese and jalapeno tamales known as tamales de rajas. Rajas translates to slices, basically they use sliced jalapeños and fresh cheese. Don't forget to add the home made salsas. The owner grows her own chili peppers and makes the best red, green, and jabanero salsas. Oh and if this was not enough, dont forget to try their freshly made chicharones, mole, and the best spicy roasted chicken. Highly recommend visiting La Hacienda Super Market if you are passing by and want a quick meal that has the teaste of real Mexican food. Also, La Hacienda Super Market sells meat cut at your taste, vegetables, and various Latin American produce. Provecho! Bon Apetit.

This is a pretty handy supermarket located on the edges of Chinatown, and with some great food in the plaza too, such as Thai Style and a great Pho place. It has changed names a few times recently and still has been pretty damned decent throughout all of them, and I think the newest Incarnation is probably the best.
