I've been visiting the General Store since I was a kid ! It's definitely a nostalgic place for me, and still a great place to visit for all my favorite Russian food items. Despite being a small place, their food selection is huge ! They have a wide variety of candies, pre-packaged goods, drinks, etc. They also have a fresh baked goods area which is great for getting treats to take to friends. The deli counter is amazing ! They have a huge selection of meats and cheeses. Definitely make sure to check out the freezers too - the pelmeni variety is amazing. The store also has a large collection of Russian books, movies, gifts, medicines, etc. The shopping center it's in isn't too exciting, but that's great for parking! There's a lot of places to park and it's never overly busy.

Our son took us here to scope out all the goodies. We bought and shared a tasty Russian ice cream sammich....the sandwich part was like a thin waffle cone layer with a really thick ice cream layer....chocolate, they had other flavors too and different kinds of frozen treats. They have a meat counter with different cuts and sausages. We picked up a few kinds of cookies, I even found some sugar free coffee candies. Everything we've tried was really good. Lots of different kinds of bread. We'll be back for more goodies.

The store is open from 10 am to 8 pm every day. huge selection of sausages, cheeses, canned food, fish, cakes. Polite service.

Ran into this store completely by accident while in the area. I've been meaning to go for a good while. I found the Armenian apricot preserves I'd been searching for and my mother picked up some cornelian cherry preserves. For a small store there were lots of interesting foods for sale that I hadn't seen since I was in New York. I'm going to have to return because I completely missed the taramosalata. Hope to head back next Sunday to take a closer look for that, the cheese and the fridge with the plemini. If you're looked for Georgian and Romanian wine, you might find what you need. They have some on the shelves in the front and in the back of the store as well. As far as Armenian wine they had one bottle of pomegranate dessert wine. I didn't check out the Russian media area in the back of the store because frankly my Russian language skills aren't up to speed. As far as toys and trinkets, there were many cute matryoshka dolls and they even had some shaped like Santa from Christmas time.

So glad I found this store. It's a quaint little shop with almost exclusively Russian goodies. From produce, wine, chocolates, sweets, books, to general care, it was easy to feel like you're in Russia for just a few minutes. Prices were good, and quality was great. I will be back next time I'm in town. (Heads up that the word "Russian" is off of the signs. "General Store" is this place ;-))

This is one of my favorite spots in town. Great food and the best chocolate!! Highly recommend them. Everyone is friendly and they're being careful with covid and limiting capacity since it's a small store. Will definitely be returning. I don't even mind the hour drive from my house!

A very peaceful place with a variety of goods from Eastern Europe. I love the sweets that are offered in the store.

That being said, I'd love to see Golden Grain get some more love since Russian General Store seems way more popular.

This market is one for the largest Vietnamese markets I've ever been to, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits, frozen foods, dry goods, imported sauces, sweets and more. I particularly love their extensive rice paper selections. My favorite is the "no water" rice paper, which doesn't require dipping in water to roll up like traditional ones. Unfortunately, this type of rice paper is available at every asian market so I'm happy Tan Binh has them. They also have a nice section dedicated to ready-to-eat and hot foods. You can grab and go with options like fried fish, tofu, and cooked meats. Customer service is usually pretty friendly. Just like anywhere else, you should check the expiration date of every product before buying. My cousin forgot to do so and bought two boxes of solar dried bananas that were expired. And during the warmer seasons, they set up a nice plant and herb section for sale right outside the entrance.

How crazy is that? There are 2 identical stores close to each other. This one is officially Tân…read moreBình Market at AI HOA Marketplace, the newest mall in Alief neighborhood. The other store is called Chợ Thanh Bình Market at a connecting mall. By looking at the sign inside and the shopping bag. The address says 11698 Bellaire Blvd Suite 11700. The location is checked out ok. Comparing those 2, I like this one better. But not the best one in Asiatown. I wouldn't want to drive all this way for something. I normally hit up Viet Hoa Supermarket on the other side of Beltway. The store is clean enough. Aisles are not always clear. Stuff was all over the floor and blocking the aisles. The shopping carts were all over the parking lot. It's not about what the business did but the customers left the charts wherever they want. I just wish there is a collection point. I have major issue of language barrier with employees here. All signs are in Vietnamese. I had to use Google Translate app for everything. That's too much. I added one star because they have breadfruit. That's a rare item in Houston.

I came in with my parents today expecting a normal grocery run and left genuinely shocked by how we…read morewere treated. We saw softshell turtles for sale and decided to buy one. The seafood manager told us it would be over $60 and we said that was fine. He picked one for us and handed it to a worker to clean/prep. While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. My mom politely tried to explain how to clean it properly (she wasn't being rude -- she was trying to help because the worker looked lost). The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job. We only took the turtle after demanding an apology, but the experience was already ruined. I won't be returning. If management cares, they need to retrain or replace staff in seafood -- because nobody should be spoken to like that while spending money in your store.

What a great store. I could shop all day there. Great vegetables and pork meat, frozen Dumplings…read morewere delicious and though didn't get through the store...hubs tagged.a long, I will go by myself next trip.. Service was good at counters and an authentic Asia store...
