But that's what happens when umami meets Mexican bliss. When your order is taken with pleasure and prepared before your eyes at this bustling establishment, it's flair mixed with fair. (It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Luckily, we had dinner at Boudro's before a ghost tour, and neither one of these events was scary. We started with the oysters which were unique and delicious. Our mains were the blackened fish and the quail. Both were very tasty. Drinks were good, bread was good, and service was fine if a little slow. We sat outside and enjoyed the views. After some bad meals on the river, we were glad Boudro's was so good!

So after reading the reviews for Boudro's, we decided to roll the dice. We started with the tableside guacamole. It's fun watching it being made right in front of you, and the guacamole was good. The flavors were more subtle than bold. Solid. Enjoyable. But I'm not running out to find a postcard to send home to Mama about it. Next came a Caprese-like salad. Again, good. Again, not life changing. Then we met the bread. Oh, that bread. Flaky on the outside. Tender and fluffy inside. This was the point where Boudro's officially had my attention. I could have ordered another basket, called it dinner and walked away perfectly happy. I'm getting hungry just writing about it. Then my wife and I shared the Pollo Asado. The menu describes it as a "Grilled Airline Chicken Breast." Airline chicken? I've been flying for decades. The words "airline" and "chicken" appearing together have never triggered pleasant memories. Thankfully, I learned that this wasn't THAT kind of airline chicken. It was marinated with adobo de achiote, citrus juices and olive oil, grilled over mesquite and oak, then served with caramelized corn, black beans and pineapple pico. And it was excellent. Beautifully prepared, juicy and packed with flavor. The pineapple pico and everything else on the plate worked together wonderfully. The bread had finally found its co-star. Overall, Boudro's didn't feel like the River Walk tourist trap we'd been warned about. Not every dish knocked us over, but everything was good, the Pollo Asado was excellent, and I'm still thinking about that bread. Four stars. And I've officially forgiven them for putting the word "airline" anywhere near my chicken.

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, so there was no debate about where we wanted to sit. She was friendly and attentive, took our order right away, and delivered our drinks promptly. What impressed us most was how she kept our drinks refilled without us ever having to ask. Her service was outstanding and made an already enjoyable lunch even better. The food was just as impressive. Our Mexican entrées were delicious and exactly what we needed after a hot afternoon on the River Walk. Between the excellent food, Gabby's attentive service, and the comfortable, modern dining room, Iron Cactus turned out to be the perfect place to relax and recharge. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely return the next time we're in San Antonio. Next time, though, we'd like to come back for dinner and experience Iron Cactus in the evening.

Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!
