Nice restaurant, clean and festively decorated. First visit since moved from strip mall; quite an upgrade. Lots of tables, plenty of parking. But very loud with little to absorb voices. Server very friendly and helpful. Chips and salsa ok. Food is good, all served warm and well prepared. Great tortillas. Chicken could be seasoned a bit more (pinch of salt!), and the beef dried up a bit on the nachos, presumably when cheese was melted. Rice good, beans ok. Overall a good lunch. The staff was very friendly and welcoming... facility was open, spacious, clean and decorated very nice. THE FOOD was incredible.. and "everything!!!!" tasted AMAZING! We had the Chili Relleno plate and the Street tacos with chorizo, bacon, and asada which cooked and seasoned perfectly! Saxon Mexican Cafe has truly earned its reputation! I had been eyeing the busy parking lot for weeks and finally decided to experience it for myself. I never get the chance to experience their food from the original location though. From the moment I pulled up last Friday, I was impressed by the immaculate exterior of the building--a gem that's been standing strong since its December 2013 official opening. Stepping inside, the inviting ambience continued with every detail reflecting care and hospitality. From the warm welcome by the hostess to the attentive service by Adam R, our waiter, and the friendly bar and food staff, every team member made us feel right at home. I indulged in their Fish Taco plate--featured as a Lenten special--and was blown away by the explosion of flavors. It's clear they take pride in preparing fresh dishes; the food was far removed from typical fast food fare, with just the right balance of seasoning. I ordered extra serving of their Mole Sauce to find out how good it is, I was not disappointed. My cousin's Enchiladas Verdes also won his heart, proving that every dish here is thoughtfully crafted. They really keep their promise that they are not a fast food restaurant that they prepare their food to order...the taste and quality prove that. Our experience didn't end there--we returned Sunday morning for breakfast and were greeted with the same warmth and exceptional quality. My friend was in from out of town and was craving Mexican food. I had heard great things about this restaurant and know that it is always packed. We did go on a Sunday for brunch and we did wait about 20 minutes to get seated. Our waitress was always on it. We were served chips and salsa right away. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready. I ordered the Sazon special. It is a breakfast plate with two fried tortillas and two eggs made your way on top with beans and breakfast potatoes on the side . I kind of expected the tortillas to be a little bit crispy, but they made for a perfect breakfast taco anyways. My friend ordered the tortilla soup and the enchilada kids plate. The rice and beans were delicious. The enchilada plate was good. I ordered an à la cart pancake. That is the only thing that I thought was not worth it. Maybe stick to the Mexican food at this restaurant. We ordered the margarita-mosa. The addition of tequila is a great idea. A mix of tequila sunrise and mimosa in one drink. Parking is available on site, but it can get full quickly. There is street parking as well. The restaurant is big with plenty of seating. They also have a bar with bar seating. read more

This was my first time eating at this restaurant. The tortilla chips that came with the salsa was too spicy for me to even eat. Maybe they need to tone it down a bit or serve a mild sauce with that one . The food was nothing special it didn't really stand out to me. I drove about 15 miles one way to try this restaurant out. The tortilla chips were served in a very small bowl so we ordered another bowl and we were charged for that. Also, I want to mention that I had the enchilada verdes and the tomatillo sauce was very bitter. I had to scrape most of the sauce off of it so I could eat the enchiladas. read more

I am from Los Angeles and I have been trying to find authentic Mexican chilaquiles with salsa verde. I finally found a spot that compares and am so excited. They have hand made tortillas, and all of their food is fresh cooked to order. If you are in a rush this place is not for you. Since the food is made when you order everything comes out very hot and fresh. They offer free chips and salsa with their meals and their salsa is so tasty and spicy. We came to eat on a Sunday at 10am and only had to wait about 10 minutes. Service was great, decor was cute, and we are excited to return to try more things. read more

I got tripas, not how I wanted them cooked as in deep fried versus grilled. They only deep fry, which he did mention but I took a chance & tried it. Glad I did, they were especially delicious, with a side of pico de gallo. I also got some menudo as a back up, very good as well. Wife got the Diego dish, she said it was pure salt. There's an 80% probability that they'll screw up the order - missing basic necessities such as tortillas and onion/cilantro for a large menudo... or salsa for your breakfast tacos. Dear Javier, my rating isn't one visit or one order gone wrong. It's true we order to-go less and less due to the number of times that items are missing. I'm certain you would want to "make things right" but your best solution will always be "Come back and we will complete the order that our careless staff overlooked the 1st time." I'm happy that your restaurant is too busy to take pride in its to-go orders. I supported your crew while it was a food truck out front in the parking lot. It was time for my monthly retirement luncheon with my fellow retired school teachers on Tuesday. This time we met at Sazon at the recommendation of one of our people. Our group had never been there, and for most of us, it was a new place. I let Siri guide me to the restaurant, which was interesting in itself. I grew up in that area of town, but there was absolutely nothing anywhere near where the restaurant is located. It was amazing to see how much growth has taken place since my parents passed, and I stopped visiting that area. I liked this restaurant. It is not at all what I expected. I had envisioned a mom and pop hole in the wall kind of place. This is nothing like that. The dining room is very pretty with gorgeous portraits on the wall to compliment the vibrant colors. It is very clean, and the tables are spread out nicely. We were there at 1:30 PM without a reservation. Most restaurants can accommodate our group around that time, so I wasn't too worried when I realized I had forgotten to make a reservation. Our server was excellent. She answered the inevitable "old people" questions that some of our group are prone to ask with grace. As far as I know, she got every order right. The menu has just about every Mexican dish you could want. It was hard for me to choose, but I ended up with a favorite- the tripas plate with corn tortillas. I asked for medium, and they were cooked to perfection. Now, those who have read my reviews of other Mexican restaurants know that I judge a place on three things: rice, refried beans, and tortillas. This restaurant passed with flying colors. The rice was very flavorful with no hint of mushiness. The beans were nearly perfect as far as the moisture level. I didn't taste manteca in them, but they were still very good. My corn tortilla passed the inhalation test. It smelled like a piece of corn heaven! It tasted great when I used it to make a taco out of tripas, rice, beans, guacamole, and a little salsa. In all honesty, it doesn't matter what I order in a Mexican restaurant... everything gets turned into tacos at the table. Overall, this was the best Mexican meal I have eaten in a long time. It hurts to say that, since I just had a Mexican plate at my local favorite place. In the future, I think traveling the extra six miles will be worth it. I only wish they were open every day until 9:00. Most days, they close at 2:30. Unfortunately, I had to scarf my food down and rush to physical therapy. But, I know that everyone in the group was enjoying their food. Even our habitual fussers had nothing but rave reviews. read more

Got flour. The taco meat tasted like someone dropped the salt shaker in the pan. When I asked for corn tortillas, they lacked the salt. Never got asked for drink refills. I was so excited to see this location open after having it closed for some time. We came on a Saturday morning and met a full parking lot. When we went inside the waiting area was full however we only had a 15 minute wait. The restaurant is open inside and has great painting hanging throughout. Opposed to the old location, this location is open later and is a good location to have a happy hour meetup after. We were seated and given menus. Our food took about 10 minutes to arrive. I will start with the tortillas are the best! They're fluffy and cooked well. I ordered the chorizo and egg plate which was a large portion. My husband ordered carne guisada tacos which he said were full of flavor. My daughter ordered the Junior French Toast. The plate was more than enough for a child and honestly could feed 2 kids. Overall, I'd suggest giving this restaurant a try. read more

After hearing the much-anticipated opening of their new location was finally official, I made it a point to come in for breakfast first chance I got. Arriving around 8:30 am, there was already a line. After checking in I was told there would be a 20-minute wait which wasn't too bad considering the line. I use the time to look over the menu and decided to go with the Machaquile plate (combo of machacado & chilaquiles) that came with a side of refried beans and papas. Once seated, our waitress took my drink and food order and did let us know the kitchen was running a little behind as they were still fine tuning their service. No problem as I would rather they take their time than rush something out. Once the food came out it It looked great and smelled delicious. Taking my first bite, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy and the machocado meat was tender and well-seasoned while the eggs were nice and fluffy and not running. The beans were on point and the papas were also nice and Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Overall, I'm glad to know that after a longer than expected time frame to move into their new location, the quality that I had come to expect (food/service) has stayed the same as everything was delicious and the staff friendly as ever. BTW, the new location is spacious on the inside and decorated to reflect the local Mexican culture. Nicely done! read more
