While the town of Big Spring isn't much to look at, this hotel has been resurrected from the dead and made to shine brighter than ever. Despite the age, the elevators weren't worrying at all, and the woman at the front desk recommended a high floor to us for the view. I'm glad she did because it really was beautiful to watch the sun set across the vast flatness of Texas from the 11th floor. Before I get to the room, I have to shoutout how beautiful the lobby is. Grand staircase, beautiful decor, an antique car, informative history on the walls, AND an amazing bar and a great restaurant on site too. It's awesome, and my friend and I were both impressed by the drinks we got with dinner. We were all very satisfied with our dinners and the portions were generous. Customer service was also top notch in every aspect, and that's definitely not just because they gave us a delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie (omg so good). Now to get to the hotel room... first of all, it was HUGE! Probably the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Two big beds with a generous amount of space around them, a full coffee bar at the entrance to the room, a big walk-in closet space, a vanity, and a huge bathroom that had a soaking tub AND a spacious shower stall. Honestly, we were stunned by the size of the room and that was only capped off by the comfort of the beds. After road tripping across Texas all day, these were absolutely magical. We'd wanted to stay in unique places on this road trip and I'm so glad we did because Hotel Settles isn't just beautiful, it's also comfortable and very luxurious in the accommodations and food / drink options on site! The chic rustic look always compliments the decorations you add for your event. As a photographer, the venue has a great number of spots to shoot, i.e. the bar in the "hardware store," the outdoor courtyard has a fountain, a long hallway, & rustic doors, an upstairs room that is furnished with some vintage looking chairs. I will say that I know the venue is pricey but the place is huge (approx 11,000 square feet! including the hardware store, party room & outdoor courtyard.) I also know that the tables and chairs are available for rent if you do not have your own. I don't know specifics of the contract they have for renting the venue, but the supply of paper towels and toilet paper in the restrooms NEVER meets the demands. It would seem like a good idea to use one of the industrial paper towel/toilet paper dispensers or even an air hand dryer found at most public restrooms. I walked out of the restroom with wet hands every time due to no paper towels. On the subject of the restrooms, the trash cans ALWAYS overflow with waste due to the fact that they are so tiny. Now on to the HVAC system, the AC in the hardware store isn't up to par or had some issues because it was sweltering hot! Almost everyone hung out in the party room & outside in the courtyard because of the heat. They need to have the HVAC system serviced or upgraded to properly cool a venue of that size. All in all, this is a nice place to have your wedding, reception, family reunion, etc. Just make sure to bring extra paper goods and some fans.

We booked this venue for a high school graduation party with about 45 guests. The space was larger…read morethan we needed, but it still worked for our event. When we arrived, the tables and chairs were not set up as stated in the contract, and there were far more than we needed. We had to spend part of our setup time rearranging and storing furniture, which made things feel rushed as guests started arriving. The photo booth was also disappointing. The instructions were sent too late and were difficult to manage during the event while hosting guests. The print quality did not meet expectations, especially for the price, and I would recommend outsourcing a photo booth service instead. We also paid $200 for an extra setup hour but due to unpredictable rain and flooding delays, by the time we got there, we only used 15 minutes of it. The contract did not clearly explain that unused time would not be refundable. Cleanup itself only took around 40 minutes. Overall, the venue served its purpose and the restrooms were clean. Now that we know what to expect, we would consider using the venue again with better planning.

We stayed in a suite - 2 queen beds as well as a sofa bed. It was such a large room; perfect for our family! The sink was separate from the bathroom, and there was a second sink in the kitchen area. The kitchen area had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. There were plenty of places for everyone's phone/watch chargers. Everything was clean. A/C was cold. We did have to ask for a few more washcloths and towels, since we were 5 people, but the front desk took care of it. The hotel seemed quite full (we saw at least two high school teams there), yet we did not hear lots of noise, and had no problems getting a good night's sleep. Breakfast is included in your stay. Even with the two large groups staying at the same time as us, the breakfast was refilled often, so we were still able to enjoy all the choices available. There was bacon, omelets, toast, muffins, bagels, scones, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, waffles, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and water. The breakfast attendant did a great job. This was a great stay after a full day of driving! I would highly recommend staying here.
