They were quick, which was great since we had a show to catch. Atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. The Celtic Lemonade drink was nicely mixed as well. The Flatbread Margherita Pizza was so underwhelming though, even with pepperoni added. I could have bought the flatbread in the freezer section: no seasoning and the crust was not consistently cooked. (Granted, I could have asked for it to be heated a bit more, but time was pressing.) read more

I've come here several times and I'm never disappointed. The food is really yummy its all well seasoned. The drinks are good, I would recommend an amaretto sour or lager bomb :). Overall its a real chill place to go. I do have to say that it does bring in alot of tourists but that comes with being situated near times square. I would recommend it to anyone read more

Bartender was pretty, so she didn't think she had to serve the customers. The beer was cold and not overpriced for NY. Someone got something fried while we were there and the oil definitively needed changing. Lots of TV's, it was a good place to watch the Rangers beat the Devils. read more

We stumbled into this place as times square tourist a few years ago. It was a place where anybody can get a drink, no fuss. Every year that my bff and I would visit the city, we would stop by this pub on our last night to say goodbye to NYC. There's always people here, even on a random Monday night. They have music on the 1st floor, drinks prices are reasonable, and you can get a cosmo for $5, draft beers for $4 during Happy Hour. I recommend the fish and chips here. Now that I finally moved to NYC, I took my bff here last month on her last night here. We like the 1st floor, always busy, and yes, you can always gets a drink. You don't have to be anybody special. Not sure where to start......draft bass ale was sour and putrid to the point it tasted like vinegar, replaced with yeungling that was sour.....so dirty beer lines. I went to this place with a couple of friends. One of them wanted to go to a pub and this was immediately in front of us as we were trying to figure out where to go. We all ordered our beers which came out promptly. I had a burger which was flavorful though a bit overcooked for my liking. It was still juicy and the burger as a whole was really good. The others had fish and chips and a club sandwich which they were satisfied with. The staff was friendly and the they made their rounds quite often. I went to the restaurant that was all the way on the top of the building--maybe 4 flights of stairs to get there. The food was about average as well as the amateur comedy hour they had there while I was eating. Very few people were paying attention, except the semi-drunk men at the bar. I do have sympathy and respect for the comedians, because you have to start somewhere, so I am glad to see that this place gives people a chance. read more

Came after a show and got beers and late night snacks. They have the drink selection posted but it's 100% not comprehensive. Beers run you 9-10 bucks though so don't be surprised when you see your bill like we were. Got the guac and chips, Celtic pub burger, and messy burger. Guac was runny but tasted fine. Celtic burger was fine-nothing special. Messy burger on the other hand was a DREAM COME TRUE! The flavors (mushrooms, cheese, bacon, Cole slaw) melded together so so well and really hit the spot. Fries come with burgers but you have to pay extra ($1) for ranch if you want it on the side. Service was nice but not overly attentive. I would come back now that I know a little more about their selection. read more

Skip this place. It looks cool. It has a rooftop bar. The allure ends there. Food was awful. Service was slooooooww. The $5 beer can special on Sunday was the only redeeming thing. Ordered Hell's Eggs. Eggs and black beans were ice cold. Sausage was burnt. I sent it back. Maybe my mistake... what was I thinking ordering Mexican style food in a Celtic pub? We sat outside on the rooftop bar. Nice breeze on a warm day. We saw 2 couples leave while we were here due to no one coming to take their order. Go elsewhere for food and reasonable service. Pretty cozy bar with decent drinks and a good food. I had a chicken chipotle wrap that was a bit spicy but otherwise delicious. Expect to pay about $100 for dinner and a few rounds which is decent in NYC. Good atmosphere though. read more

I like this Irish pub a lot. There are three floors, so there's always a place to sit, although it can get really crowded at lunchtime. The food is fine, nothing above average for a pub, but not bad at all. The burger is what I usually order. Drinks are always cold and served by friendly bartenders, especially Aina/Ayna (not sure how it's spelled, but the Irish bartender downstairs with the dark hair who constantly smiles). Went in on a Monday mid-day. The place is 4 floors. Me, my parents and my younger brother went in and were seated. The waitress was also a bartender, and made the drinks we ordered. Halfway through the meal, she disappeared and another staff member started taking care of us. I assumed our original waitress had gone home, as she didn't tell us someone new would be taking care of us. But later on, I saw her walking the bar taking care of other tables. Not sure what was going on with that. I got the chicken cordon Bleu. For $18 I would expect a really good cordon bleu. Dry chicken, hard burnt breading, and hardly no cheese if any inside. The shrimp appetizer was good, but disappointing. 4 medium sized shrimp for a high priced $14. We seemed to be taken care of by most of the other staff, like waiters assistants (2 of them I'm guessing). My parents got Guinness beef stew. Looked like a whole lot of gravy, and not too much vegetables and beef. But they loved it. All in all for a restaurant in Times Square, and how pricey it was, I wasn't impressed. With plenty of irish pubs around the area, I'd look somewhere else! I'm absolutely certain you can get better food, for your dollar around there. I would probably do the same and look somewhere else, refraining from going back given the chance. read more

The bar on the 2nd floor has the best $6 Appletinis & Cosmos! A cool place to hang out for drinks. There happy hours starts from 7pm to 10pm, which works perfect for us. Food is okay. I wish they had more options for vegetarians like me. read more

Randomly found this spot while looking for lunch near a conference in Times Square. The atmosphere is pretty great - so long as you enjoy pubs - the service was friendly and prompt and the food was very tasty. This is definitely the sort of place to go watch football (not American football) and all of the tv's had on the Chelsea v. Manchester game on while we were there. I got the shepherd's pie and it was pretty delicious. Whenever I go to English/Irish restaurants the shepherd's pie is my go-to meal and this one was on par with the rest. They also have a 4th floor beer garden and patio, which sounds awesome but I did not have time to check it out. Overall I would recommend Playwright's and would go back again. read more
