Consumer Warning: Review of Playtime Pool Maintenance & Renovation ​ ​This review details our highly unsatisfactory experience with Playtime Pool concerning both routine pool opening service and their handling of a renovation project. We strongly recommend that other consumers seek services elsewhere. ​Critical Operational Failure: Pool Opening ​We contracted Playtime for our seasonal pool opening. During this process, a significant and damaging error was made: the winterizing plugs were left in the pool's returns. ​This fundamental oversight caused subsequent damage to the system. Once the issue was diagnosed by a subsequent, reputable company, we were faced with unexpected and costly repairs. An error of this magnitude in a basic, seasonal maintenance task suggests a severe lack of diligence and quality control on the part of the technicians involved. As others have noted in their reviews there is a total ​lack of professionalism. Every time there was an issue with the system we were left to diagnose it remotely over a video chat. Everything came to a head a few weeks before our son's graduation party. We had scheduled our system to be opened and working at the beginning of April. Things were not working at the end of May. My wife deservedly became frustrated and very upset with the constant delays and subsequently had a heated discussion with Meg who hung up on my wife. Meg then called her tech who was on-site trying to get our system up and running and she told him to leave our property immediately. The tech was great and apologized to us. He did the best he could with what he had. Meg never apologized for their mistakes. Imagine spending over $30k on a project and the owner never visited to make sure everything was working alright. Save yourself a headache and find another pool company. I can vouch for Aquastar. Worth every penny if you value your time and sanity. read more

Been a loyal customer for 6 years and every year it is the same 1-2 months to open pool fully. This year we asked to open the end of April before the crush. Pool was not opened until August 1. Then paid our mid-season bill and Meg came back saying they will no longer be servicing our pool. I always found her to be extremely unprofessional and impossible to get a straight answer from or a Sorry when they caused the delay. No accountability. Pool technicians are great but that is where it ends. Please try Bedford Pools they are a very solid and dependable company. read more

WORST POOL COMPANY EVER! We'd never had Playtime Pool Service open our pool before and should have left it that way. What a clusterbomb of a disaster. The technician Playtime Pool Service sent, Israel, was poorly trained and overworked. When he started, he never asked where he should aim the waste water hose from cleaning, and he complained that he had 8 more stops after us (we were the second or third one). So the pool waste water ran down a hill and ruined our organic vegetable garden. The plants were killed. Israel wasted so much water during cleaning we had to get new pool water delivered. We had 1200 gallons of water put back in. The company that delivered the water said they'd never seen anything like this from a pool cleaning. Israel did not know how to install a pool ladder. He said, "But I don't know how to do that!" At one point he said the ladder didn't have to be anchored to the deck, that water in the pool would hold it in place. Wrong! After we pointed out to him where to bolt the ladder to the deck, it wobbled dangerously. We called Playtime Pool Service and said it was unsafe and should be re-anchored. Their response was, "Call another pool company." A few days later water started leaking from our pump that's only three years old. When Israel took away fthe pump for repair, he never plugged the lines. We also discovered the handles on the valves had been broken. So right after paying $346 for pool water we lost two more inches within 6 hours because of Israel's oversight. When our emergency calls to Playtime weren't returned, we had to find someone else to plug the lines that day because we were going to lose even more water while we waited for Playtime to call us back. Another $120. After that, the valve on the salt cell they said they had fixed at the opening started leaking again. So we had to pay for that too. In all, we were out-of-pocket $546 on top of the cost of Playtime's opening fee. Later we found dead plants where Israel had parked his truck. Our landscaper said it was a salt spill. We also discovered later we were sold excessive bags of salt we didn't need. This whole nightmare was caused by Playtime Pool Service. The owner, Meg Kenedy, who we spoke to and emailed many times, refused to take responsibility for any of this. She tried to blame us. She even said Israel was her best employee. If he's her best, who's her worst? We filed a complaint with the CT Dept of Consumer Affairs. In her response, Meg denied everything. Though she said she would reimburse us for the cost of plugging the lines, she later refused to pay us, saying she didn't approve of the repairman's license, which was B.S. He did a fine job. I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Playtime Pools. I hired them to clean my pool, but it's never looked worse. Black and brown algae have taken over the walls and floor, and no matter what they did, the water kept turning green and never looked clear. Constantly need to call and txt to have issues addressed and when they did finally show up they just never got it right. I've had to spend extra money on additional cleaning and chemicals just to try to salvage the situation with another provider. Their service was inconsistent and ineffective, leaving my pool in worse shape than before. Save yourself the trouble and look for a more reliable and thorough pool cleaning service. Playtime Pools clearly doesn't deliver on their promises. If I could give a lower star I would. My experience was VERY similar to Trish W! Do yourself a huge favor and do not sign that contract because Meg seems to think just because she has a contract you need to pay her for not performing their duties. read more
