Edgar was very friendly and welcoming. I am very much a beginner when it comes to strength training so I appreciate the group settings where I can feel motivated by others around me. The group classes see 8 people maximum which makes it easier to get the attention of the trainer if you have any questions or concerns. They also offer 1:1 personal training and an open gym. Parking: plenty and free

You get the group fitness atmosphere and motivation, which I love, but also the attention of personal training because the groups are small, and the coaches are very attentive. The group classes are at most 8 people, so it's never too crowded and there is plenty of equipment to go around. Plus you get inspiration and motivation from the people working out around you. The owner Edgar designs the workout programs to run for 4-6. So you will be doing the same exact exercises each week until the program changes. This gives you the ability to track your progress and make improvements throughout the program. This is very different compared to other group fitness class I've done, which change the workouts each week, and there isn't as much structure or emphasis on tracking your lifts. Funktional fitness is great for anyone wanting to improve their physical fitness. It's great for the beginner and for the advanced lifter. The coaches are very knowledgeable and patient, but they will also challenge you. They have helped me out so much with my form on my lifts and given me cues that have really stuck for me. I've only been working out at Funktional for about 4 months but I've already seen more progress than I have the last year.

I'm giving 24 Hour Fitness Super-Sport a solid 3.3 out of 5, and honestly this review surprised…read moreeven me because the last time I came here years ago(2016) I do NOT remember the same vibe I experienced this morning. I pulled up early enough to accidentally join what I'm now calling the 5 AM club, and wow... those people are not playing around. The level of motivation in that place before sunrise is honestly impressive. Everyone looked locked in like they had something to prove to themselves before the rest of the world even woke up. It actually changed the energy of my own workout in a good way. Normally early gyms can feel half asleep, but this one had people moving with purpose. You could tell these regulars take their workouts seriously, and it made the whole experience feel a lot more intense in a strangely motivating way. The gym itself is pretty big and has a lot of machines, which at first can feel a little intimidating because the layout is kind of... chaotic. It's almost like someone designed the floor plan by saying "just put the equipment wherever it fits." There's a mix of machines scattered around that doesn't always make sense together, so at first it gives a bit of a "we're just making it work" vibe. That said, even with the crowd I was able to move through my workout without waiting too long for anything, which honestly is half the battle at most gyms. It almost feels like a maze the first time you walk through it, though. I was genuinely wandering around for a second trying to figure out where everything was, especially the restrooms which are kind of tucked away off to the side. I eventually found them, but it definitely wasn't obvious at first glance. I believe they also have a pool somewhere in the mix, but between navigating the machine maze and trying to keep up with my workout, I didn't go on a full exploration mission. One thing I will say is the morning front desk staff member was incredibly nice and welcoming, which I really appreciated. As someone who gets a little socially overwhelmed when gyms are packed, that kind of greeting actually makes a difference. The place did feel busier than I expected for that hour though. It's March and somehow it felt like everyone decided their New Year's resolution started yesterday. That said, the energy in the room was undeniable and kind of contagious. There are still a few cleaning and upkeep things that could be improved, which kept this from being a higher rating, but overall this location is probably one of the better 24 Hour Fitness gyms I've been to. It might not be the most relaxing morning workout environment if you're hoping for quiet zen vibes, but if you want motivation, determination, and a room full of people who are clearly serious about getting their workout in before sunrise, this place definitely delivers.

Having now experienced FIT Brea, I'm definitely kicking myself for not trying this gym out sooner. I've only done their group fitness classes so far, which range from 8-12ish people in size, and I'm looking forward to trying out the personal training sessions when my schedule opens up! Here are a few ways that make FIT Brea a standout: COACHING: The coaches here are the whole package! 1. They all have stellar credentials, with many of them holding advance degrees and multiple certifications. In short, they know their stuff. 2. At the risk of sounding facetious, I just want to make the point that the FIT Brea coaches actually coach. It might sound like a no-brainer, but it hasn't always been my experience that coaches do much more beyond demo-ing the moves and saying "good job" or "keep going" every few minutes, especially in a group class setting. Here, the coaches constantly move throughout the room to offer individualized pointers on form, differentiated movements depending on individual strength and mobility, alternative movements for injuries, and encouragement and motivation to keep pushing so I can get better and better. 3. They are all super patient, encouraging, and welcoming! PROGRAMMING: The programming for the group classes are thoughtfully and methodically designed. From what I can tell so far, the workouts are structured in mesocycles with a progressive overload pattern. This is important because if we do the same thing over and over, our bodies will adapt and we will not make appreciable gains over time. With progressive overload, our bodies are constantly challenged so that we can keep increasing strength and improving hypertrophy. COMMUNITY: The FIT Brea community is so nice and helpful. I felt welcomed by the coaches and the other patrons from day one. Several people who recognized that I was new introduced themselves and helped me find and set up various equipment. Others even put my plates and dumbbells back during transitions. Just last week, the whole class broke out into spontaneous applause and cheer when I pushed out that last rep of bench press, haha! The mutually encouraging environment really underpins the whole vibe and experience here. It's a special thing. MANAGEMENT: One of the things that I didn't realize would make a difference in my overall gym experience is having direct access to management/owner. In my past gym experiences, the questions/concerns I had would typically have to go up a chain of command before I got a response. Since FIT Brea is owner-operated, the patrons can directly talk to Andrew, the owner, who is so nice and provides exceptional customer service. SPACE/EQUIPMEMENT: It's spacious, well-maintained, clean, and an overall pleasant environment to train in. CLASS OFFERINGS: I'm a busy mom who works full-time hours plus daily commute. I'm thankful that classes are offered as early as 5am and as late as 6:30pm so that I can get my training time in! If you are looking for a gym where you can optimize and maximize your fitness goals (whatever they are), look no further because FIT Brea is it! I'm a serial Yelp sleuther and almost never write reviews, but my experience thus far has so far exceeded my expectations that I felt compelled to share this gem of a place with others!

That said, there are a few ongoing issues. The biggest one is the temperature--it's consistently hot inside, to the point where it feels like the AC isn't working properly. It makes workouts uncomfortable, especially during busy times. There are also a handful of machines that have been broken and don't seem to get fixed quickly. It's not a huge amount, but enough to be noticeable when you're trying to follow a routine. Another issue is the environment at times. It can feel more like a hangout spot for younger kids (high school/junior high), and I've noticed people smoking in the locker room, which is a concern. I still come here and want to like it, but these are things that could really be improved. If management addressed the AC, stayed on top of equipment maintenance, and enforced gym rules better, it would make a big difference.

I don't like it when Briana violates my boundaries without respecting me. This action represents the lack of respect at UFC Brea. I commented to Briana that she violated my boundaries by calling the other UFC gym without getting my permission first. Briana said "I'm doing you a favor " I was incredulous by this remark when she banned me from the gym earlier. At this point, I said to her I want you to leave me alone. I want you to go away.
