The party was beautifully decorated (my friend…read moretold me that they handle set up and breakdown), so you don't have to worry about anything other than attending! I will say the only downside of this venue is that it's not really optimized for parties (which makes sense bc their main gig is the play area for the kids - and they have plenty of room to run around). Seems like you can bring your own food/drinks in which is really nice! There isn't that much space available for the adults/bystanders. The staff were really friendly, and welcomed us right when we walked in. Checked us in and explained the rules of the playground (shoes off, socks on), restrooms were outside in the hall (keys available at front desk).

The only positive is the indoor playground. Everything else from customer service to the baking activity was a complete letdown. The front desk staff was extremely rude to multiple guests while checking waivers (who gave us feedback afterwards). Instead of welcoming families, they acted irritated and dismissive. From that moment on, it felt like they were more focused on catching us break rules than providing even basic customer service. We paid $17 per child for 20 kids for the baking activity, and it was terrible. Several parents shared that the staff told children to "stand still or you won't get your cake pop" . Only two parents were allowed inside to supervise 20 kids. All kids were crammed around one table despite several empty tables sitting unused in kitchen. Kids were shoulder-to-shoulder while staff watched sternly. My daughter even said it was the "worst birthday ever," which was heartbreaking. On top of the $500+ facility fee and $340 baking charges, we agreed on $150 cleaning fee because we decided to bring outside food. We were provided only (1) table for food, and when we asked for additional tables for food and kids art, we were told they "didn't have any." They suggested placing the kids' artwork right next to the food. The nickel-and-diming continued nonstop... In addition, we paid: $20 each for two toddlers who stayed in the playground $50 extra for five adults (we exceeded the capacity of 40 guests) We had to push our guests out (it was embarassing!!) since we were told we would be charged $50 per 10 minutes if we went over the extremely tight 10-minute cleanup window. They do not allow decor on wall or even outside balloons, which is absurd for a kids' party venue. They sell the decorations in house though. By the end, I felt like we spent the entire party being watched, policed, and corrected rather than supported. Staff members hovered pointing out "rules" instead of helping create a good experience for the kids. BOTTOM LINE: The playground may look fun, but the staff, policies, and overall experience are terrible. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and unnecessary fees. Book your party somewhere else!!

Disappointing experience - not the same as before…read more I visited Candeeland Carlsbad yesterday with my 5-year-old son, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I want to start by saying the front desk attendant was very friendly and welcoming. However, the rest of the staff completely changed the tone of our visit. They were consistently rude and made us feel not welcomed there. I've been there before and had a very different experience, so this was surprising. This time, I was not allowed to sit at the tables with my coffee and reusable water bottle, even though they sell drinks and snacks on-site and I've done this on previous visits. I had no intention of taking anything into the play structures, just sitting at the tables. I also planned to do some light work on my computer while my son played, something I've done there before, but I was told that wasn't allowed either. I was told I had to stay with my son at all times. The way this was communicated was the most frustrating part. The staff came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, not just to me but to other families as well. I ended up speaking with the assistant manager because the situation felt so uncomfortable. As I was leaving, another family actually thanked me for saying something because they were feeling the same way, which says a lot. I had been planning to host my son's birthday party there in June, but after this experience, I will definitely be making other plans. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously, because this place has potential, but the customer experience needs a lot of improvement.

The play area was exceptionally crowded, and my toddler who had just turned 2 at the time had a hard time navigating around the older, bigger kids. The age range felt a little questionable to me. At other play places we frequent, the kids tend to be closer in age, but that wasn't the case here. My son was knocked around a few times by bigger children, and the environment became very overstimulating. We ended up leaving early because of the chaos and my son not able to properly use anything... nearly all of the fruit and vegetable toys from the market area had been scattered throughout the play space, leaving the market and kitchen section where many of the younger kids were gathered mostly empty. Overall, it just didn't feel like the right fit for us. We decided to give Kids and Coffee another try this past Wednesday, thinking it might be a better experience without a birthday party happening... and it was! We paid for two hours, stayed about an hour and a half, and my son had a great time. One thing I really appreciate about Kids and Coffee is that their café is nut and peanut free, which is especially important for families like ours dealing with multiple food allergies. That peace of mind was honestly the main reason I wanted to give the space another chance. We were even considering adding Kids and Coffee into our regular rotation since it's closer to us than some of the other play places we enjoy. Unfortunately, after our visit, my son became extremely sick most likely with norovirus. I completely understand that illnesses can happen anywhere kids gather, and I don't blame the business for that. However, during our entire visit, I didn't see any employees actively present in the play area. Parents, myself included, were gathering and returning the pretend produce to the market area, but none of the toys appeared to be wiped down or sanitized. At other play places, such as Tiny Tiger, there always seems to be staff actively cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day. Because we have been to so many play places now with great experiences and have not come home with an illness from any other we will just be sticking to our regular spots moving forward. I think sanitation still needs a little work at this location or perhaps even someone checking temperatures at the door like other places All in all, we unfortunately won't be returning.

Eight. I live in a suburban Bermuda Triangle where every road leads to a different flavor of parental surrender. And yet... I keep coming back because the Play Pass membership is the closest thing to salvation a modern dad can buy without consulting a Rabbi. Two hundred fifty games a day. Half off food. Half off the trampoline park. And I can use it at any location in the country, each with its own personality. All have salad bars, some are safe to eat at. All offer redemption counters which are low key pawn shops for sugar gremlins. Some keep things clean. Some... El Cajon... do not. But Escondido? Escondido is one of the chosen ones. My kids are locked in on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Escondido has it. National City has it too, but then you have to spend time in National City, and I'm not trying to add side quests to my suffering. The machines here mostly work. The card readers don't gaslight you. The ticket counters don't jam. It's the little things that keep a man going. The Rat Situation..... Once an hour, the music hits. A jaunty little tune that tells most kids it's time to dance with the giant rat mascot. For my youngest, it's the opening note of a horror movie. She hears it and immediately climbs me like a tree. And look, most of the teenagers in the suit are pros. They see the terror. They give us space. They drift away like a respectful wildlife ranger avoiding a startled fawn. But every now and then, fate hands us one of two options: A kid in the suit who cannot read the room Or a kid who absolutely can read the room and chooses violence anyway Those are the moments when the rat stalks my child like a hyena, and I swear, I am not amused. The Beer! Chuck E Cheese serves beer. This is not a luxury. This is a coping mechanism. But the rat only allows one per hour. One. They demand a valid ID every time, even though I look like a man who hasn't slept since the Obama administration. And the system literally locks the tap until the hour resets, no matter how much money I offer the vermin behind the counter. I have never felt more controlled by a rodent in my life. The Salad Bar.... This location keeps the salad bar stocked and clean. Watermelon, honeydew, cucumbers, carrots, oranges. Six fifty with the membership. My kids eat actual produce here. This is a miracle. Other locations... again, El Cajon... treat the salad bar like a corporate mandated example that pizza and cotton candy a food group. Escondido Chuck E Cheese is where I come to trade my sanity for two hours of my kids not fighting. The Play Pass is a lifesaver. The games work. The salad bar is shockingly fresh. The beer flows on a timer set by a tyrant rat overlord. Four stars because my child should not have to fear a mascot like it's a nature documentary. But for a beaten down dad clutching his hourly beer like manna, this place gets the job done.

They had a blast playing games and enjoying some friendly competitions. We picked Birthday Package which included pizza, drinks and dessert. There is a back party room has two tables and fits comfortably around 10 to 12 kids. I especially liked the large glass observation window, which allowed us to watch the kids while they played. Each game lasts about 18 minutes, providing a nice rhythm for the kids to cycle back to the room for snacks and drinks. However, I do have a few suggestions regarding the birthday experience and food policies. First, we were disappointed to learn we couldn't bring our own cake. My daughter was quite let down, as the provided cupcakes didn't feel quite right for a milestone 10th birthday. We were also informed that if we wanted to bring any extra food or treats, they had to be individually wrapped, which is very limiting. Additionally, our host was not very engaging. They simply explained how the room and games worked, making the experience feel a bit transactional rather than celebratory. Despite these minor issues, it was a great party overall. The kids had a wonderful time, and we will definitely be back to play again.

I really appreciate all the new additions and renovations. We were out of town for about a month and when we came back, so many of the play stations had been updated. No matter how busy it gets, it never feels messy. It also never smells like feet in there, which is honestly a big problem at other indoor playgrounds. The staff does a great job maintaining a clean and pleasant environment. The only downside for us is that our daughter is growing out of it a little too fast. She can get bored if there are not other kids her age to play with. This is truly a great spot for younger children. I do wish they offered an hourly rate instead of requiring a full day pass, because sometimes you just need a quick hour or two to let the kids get their wiggles out. Overall, it is a wonderful, well maintained playground and we will continue recommending it to families with younger kids.
