I have taken a series of lessons from Scott over two different periods. Through both sets of…read morelessons I came away with a broader understanding of how music works, and my playing was opened up and expanded as a result. If you are not familiar with Scott as a performer, a quick web search will reveal his credentials. He's been teaching for nearly 40 years, and is an active performer playing jazz, classical, and fusion. He is an expert player in a number of different styles, and counts a number of famous musicians as his students. I told Scott what I was interested in learning, and he tailored lessons to my desires. He has a tremendous accumulation of supporting materials - lead sheets for jazz standards, decompositions of rock solos, pages of scales and licks, and the list goes on. It seemed that after every lesson there would be some well-prepared supporting information that I could take home to further my practice and advancement. Scott is also very friendly and patient. His love of playing is infectious. Highly recommended!

Not an old ladies house teaching old school tunes with no advancement, or a fancy place that charges you an arm and a leg for lessons. Mila teaches out of a super cute studio, she is so kind and patient and actually expresses a genuine interest in your learning. I really like that she has an educational university level background in Piano and Music and doesn't just teach you piano songs back to back. (Like the teachers I had growing up). She delves into music theory, history, composition, form, sight reading, ear training etc. it really makes the learning effective and long term. She continuously updates her curriculums to new techniques and keeps up with modern pieces. She even offers educational music group classes for toddlers while also ranging to adult students. She is very organized has great communication, not sure what the other review was talking about, they probably just didn't read her payment setup which is super easy and convenient. She stays up to date with all of her students and will always answer questions about her policies. I have learned so much from Mila, she is an incredible piano teacher.

My daughter began to take violin lessons from Ms. Lizzy since she was 6 year old. She had no prior…read moremusic lessons and just wanted to try it out. Knowing that violin playing has a steep learning curve, our plan was to just get her exposed to some music lessons and see how everything would pan out. From the very first lesson, Ms. Lizzy has shown a great deal of patience and she certainly had her ways to keep my daughter interested and engaged. My daughter sometimes could get really frustrated quickly. However, Ms. Lizzy was able to make things work for her very well. For example, when my daughter got stuck on a difficult passage or a new bowing or fingering pattern, and was on the verge of getting emotional, Ms. Lizzy would guide her to play something my daughter was familiar with, and it worked wonder to calm her down and reestablish confidence. She will then guide her back later to tackle the place where she was stuck on. In addition, she would also take quality time to converse with my daughter and guide her on how to handle challenges in each new song and techniques. Her being a great teacher to my daughter eventually inspired me to join the party to take my beginner lesson with her along with my daughter. Fast forward to now, we are close to a year into our lessons. My daughter and I were able to play some duets from Suzuki's Duets for Violin book already. The weekly lesson with Ms. Lizzy has been one of the best times we are looking forward to, rains or shine.
