A top notch pinball arcade. The place is extremely well maintained with an impressive selection of machines and awesome staff. We were visiting from out of town, and Dakota was an absolutely fantastic host, who made us feel so welcome. No doubt her positive attitude adds to the overall great atmosphere here. Our bartender (Alex, I think) was super friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean, and the other bartenders are very nice, also. We came on a Saturday and then returned so my spouse could play in one of the Sunday tournaments. We will absolutely return!! P.S. the pizza is delicious! read more

Mike, Brandon and the rest of the crew here are absolutely fantastic. The collection and condition of the games (as well as the selection of titles) is equally impressive. Ooo I have never EVER seen something like this in my life. Super cool! They have a ton of pinball machines and fun arcade games. It looks like high quality and vintage stuff for any geeky gamer. There was a karaoke night when we went and and a fair crowd for a Thursday. Cool to see and probably the only place worth checking out late at night for visitors. Hard to find though and a little claustrophobic at the entrance. Wish there was an incentive for playing the games to come back. The food seemed pricey for the amount but hit the spot and fit the vibe. It just seemed weird they come to find you with your food - no order number or name. I'm not exactly into the whole bar scene so my opinion is biased but this place was definitely worth checking out. read more

This is place for you if you're ok with getting cut off after one drink because you complain to the bouncer about your friend getting groped by some random ass guy. And then get told by the bouncer that apparently our girl group "wanted it" because " we were letting guys buy us drinks", when in fact the only person that bought us a (one) drink was my former boss. I would never expect to find a place like this in Rock Hill. We came for a friend's birthday and had a great time. It's kind of hard to find. The address is on Main Street, but it's not really right on Main Street. It's down on the side of a building. It would help if they put a sign on Main Street directing you where it was. There's a free parking garage near by. It's 21+ only and they check ids at the door. There's a $5 cover, cash and card are both accepted. Once you're inside, all arcade games and pinball machines are set to free play and you can play as long as you like. There a large patio area as well, but it was a little cold right now. They layout inside isn't great. It's very cramped and hard to get around. There's some tables to sit at and eat, but they're awkwardly placed because they're in the way of the games. They have a pretty good number of games. Pinball is my favorite and they had six machines I believe. They have a decent drink selection as well as a small food menu with pretty standard bar food. We got the bacon cheese fries and the cinnamon sugar fries. The bacon cheese fries were good--pretty standard with a nice crispy fry. The cinnamon sugar fries needed an icing to dip them in. The only thing I did not like was how loud the music was. It felt like you were at a club and you couldn't talk to anyone. I'd be interested to come earlier in the day and see if it has a more laid back vibe. I really liked the concept of this place. All of the arcade bars in Charlotte tend toward free to get in and then you have to pay for games like pinball. I'd way rather just pay $5 to get in and then not have to worry about it. I'd definitely come back here, but probably during the day when there's a better chance of normal volume music. read more

What a cool spot!! I am so glad we stumbled upon Player1Up while we were walking around Rock Hill. We were walking around and it looked intriguing so we decided to stop in. They have a ton of fun games and they were all actually working and in good repair. They also seemed very clean which is always nice but in the world of COVID it is very much appreciated. We played a few games and then had a seat at the bar for a drink. The bartender was very nice and the drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. You can sit at the bar, at the tables near the bar or outside on the patio. read more

What an awesome joint! We had a hard time finding it but visited after 3 or 4 days of it being open, so I'm sure there is more signage to come. We made friends on the search for the front door, found ourselves floor scanning while sharing an elevator and somehow came in the back door of Player 1Up. Lousy detective work on our part, but pretty funny. Inside, there are roughly 30 old standup arcade games. Some, I've never heard of, but they are all free to play with the $5 cover at the door. The bartenders were stellar and kept up with the rush of people wanting to try their hand at old games. They serve food too! We didn't try anything but the pizza looked and smelled delicious! Considering a brand new hot spot, they did a great job handling the crowd and we will be back, without a doubt! read more

I recently discovered this place with friends and it was a great experience. They have a good selection of arcade games and some are even free to play but others not very much. We have been to MANY barcades around the country and have been waiting for one to open here in Rock Hill. This place does not disappoint. The fact that they allow all ages from noon to 5:00 on Saturday and Sunday is a huge plus. We can bring the kids to enjoy the arcade games of our youth. I love that all but a small portion of their newer games INCLUDING their pinball machines are free to play. Me, I could play pinball all day and be happy. The food selection might be minimal, but what they do serve (pizza, hot dogs, corn dogs, soft pretzels, etc) is very tasty and the price is more than reasonable. The owners are almost always there and keep everything clean and running smoothly. Give this place a try. We have been back many times and our kids often ask us to take them again. This is by far my favorite place to hang out. Martha is the best, she is so sweet and makes you feel so welcomed at her bar. The food is pretty awesome too, the pretzel and beer cheese is one of the best I've ever had. When we first went here, we were blown away. But now with this new expansion, it couldn't possibly get any better. The "living room" is my favorite. Nice little hide away. They have an incredible selection of arcade games, all more than worth the $5 cover charge. (Ladies get in free thursdays!!! How cool!) and the general manager makes sure that anyone who steps into play 1up feels safe and has fun. Horrible management. I ran the kitchen alone for these guys for about a month and was fired for expressing my concerns. I told them multiple times that the oil in the fryer was bad and was causing an excessive amount of smoke in the kitchen. The manager Brandon told me countless times that he would fix the issue but never did and eventually said that he did (he lied to me because I checked the oil myself every day that I came in). I swear the manager was "troubleshooting" (playing games) more than he actually ever worked and I can't imagine how much money he has finessed from the owners. The overall environment of this establishment is toxic and out of anything I would highly recommend avoiding the food. The majority of the food is all stuff you can buy in the freezer section at your local grocery store anyway, and nothing is labeled with dates or times that they were opened so you risk the chance of getting sick from the food. Also the physical location of Player 1 Up is literally in a hole in the ground (no pun intended) so your emergency escapes are non existent. Some people may read this review and think "he is just mad that they fired him" but honestly I'm not even upset about it, I'm already making more than they ever would have paid me so they did me a favor.
