So delicious!! I got an Açaí bowl with coconut, Nutella, strawberries & granola. I wish there were cashews to choose from as a topping. My family got smoothies - they weren't raving over them but thought they were good. Service was fast. We did carry out and they keep it in the freezer until you arrive, so it was fresh and very cold!! The restaurant had good parking and was clean. Staff was helpful and kind. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu at playa bowls ! I love creating my own , the acai base and coconut base our my favorite and adding peanut butter on top is always a move. The last time I went however I placed an order on the app and I got an email that it was ready , so I went up to the cashier and they told me they didn't have my order and they didn't believe me that I had actually ordered something. So I had to go back to my car and get my phone and show them the receipt. They seemed very reluctant to then make my bowl, but didn't even make it right away. I had to wait atleast 20 minutes (which was 30 min after it was supposed to be ready originally) So In conclusion the food is great but the service is not. read more

Playa Bowls is a low-guilt treat! They're high in sugar but also loaded with nutrients and healthy fats - way better than my usual brunch spot. I love their bowls, while the price is a few dollars more than your average fast-casual restaurant, you'll get much fresher REAL food that you won't get at your from an $8 sandwich shop. I had been craving Playa Bowls ever since I got back from my beach trip (wishing I was still there...sigh). I tried to visit the Newark, DE location the night before - after a 25 minute drive I pulled up to a sign on the door saying 'we are closed for maintenance'! The next morning I bumbled down to Wayne, PA for my first visit to this Playa Bowls location. They were much faster and friendlier than my usual stop down the shore, even during my 11 am visit on a Saturday... My Chila Tella bowl with vanilla vegan protein was as perfect as I could have expected. As was my girlfriend's strawberry banana smoothie which soon became 30% mine. My only frustration was that the staff was unsure how to use their own app - I showed them the QR code of my Playa Bowls rewards card, as the app says to, and the employee had no clue what to do with it. Nor did any of the other two ladies working. They took my phone number instead, and my points never showed up. Again, it's certainly not the end of the world but this is just something I would've expect them to be trained on. All in all, I have always had fairly good experiences at Playa Bowls. I was so excited to finally try this place-their bowls on Instagram look amazing. Their menu is huge and many of the items look like things I definitely hope to try but I decided to go for one of their seasonal bowls, the Gingerbread bowl. The acai was infused with a little ginger (so good-i was surprised I liked it as much as I did). I really hope to be back to try more of their yummy bowls. Playa Bowls just opened in downtown Wayne, and it is a hit with everyone I've spoken to. I just had to try it, based on recommendations. I love juice bars, smoothies, and acai bowls. There are many juices, smoothies, and bowls to choose from....or you can customize your own, which is what I did. I chose the acai base, strawberries, blueberries, and granola on top, with peanut butter drizzle. The ingredients tasted very good and fresh. The PB tasted natural. I was so full at the end. My bowl was about $9. This is a little expensive to get everyday, but it was a fun treat on a hot day. My mom got a chia seed bowl. She said that it was pretty tasty, but wasn't quite as impressed with the chia seeds as I was with my acai bowl. She did agree that the fruit and granola were really good. The only downside was the seating. All of the seats are high barstools without a back. The tables are high, but not high enough for your knees to fit under the table while sitting on the chairs; this makes for an awkward side sit....my mom was not a fan. I'm guessing it's because they don't want you lingering? However, some normal seats would be nice so that you can enjoy your expensive treat. I will definitley go back again, although I probably will just take my bowl or smoothie to go instead of sitting on those uncomfortable seats. All the options look very appetizing and healthy, and the only downside I saw in this particular location is that unlike the one we saw on the Jersey Shore, this one does not serve poke bowls, which I've come to enjoy. Still good food, though. We ordered a slightly customized smoothie and a mix bowl of acai and pitaya (dragonfruit). The bowl was very good, with fresh and delicious ingredients, and the smoothie tasted good, but not all of it was thoroughly blended. I'd come back to try some more bowls and add some different ingredients in. Maybe not a mix bowl next time, and probably would try adding spirulina into it! read more

Not very sanitary...and the employees didn't seem shocked! Tonight I try and call an order in about 20 minutes before closing so they don't have to make two last second.....I walk in about 5 minutes before close and they tell me they put there açaí away and it was too frozen to make and they only could make one of my two bowls. I understand wanting to get out of work shortly after closing, but putting your menu items away early and then not being able to serve customers items on the menu because you want to get out of there early...BAD BUSINESS!! I really love the smoothie bowls here. They are around $10 or a little more, but they are basically a full meal and are packed with so much fruit and toppings. They completely messed up my to go order but I didn't realize until I got home. I ordered the booster bowl with gluten free granola. They were out of gf granola so that was a bummer to start with. I asked to add strawberries and replace the peanut butter with almond butter. The bowl was supposed to come with banana, chia seeds, & pb on top. Instead they only put strawberries on it and I could barely find the almond butter that I ordered. everyone was super friendly and it's a really cute spot, it was just a let down to only have a bowl with a base and strawberries only on it. The service at this location was horrendous! My niece placed 5 orders (1 for each of us at the house) using the app to take advantage of the Black Friday special to get a $5 gift card for each order. When she went in to pick up the orders, the women working accused her of lying that the order was for other people, called her names, made her wait for over 30 minutes, and would only give her one of the gift cards. I went into the store after my niece relayed to me how she was mistreated, and asked for the manager. The woman said she was the manager. I asked why they were rude to a young woman, they denied being rude. She gave me the other 4 gift cards but refused to explain their behavior, only stating something about "corporate policy". I can't imagine corporate policy permits the staff to be mistreat customers in this manner. read more

I wish they were more transparent about adding/subbing in toppings b/c we were surprised to see that mango was 0.50 extra, even though it was listed as a regular topping for pitaya bowls. We did take it to go to eat outside at a park, so the bowl was pretty melty once we dug in, but it was refreshing nonetheless! Granola has some kind of rice puff b/c it was pretty crunchy. Overall I would get it again. The 2nd thing was a smoothie with coconut milk, pineapple, mango and kale. Again, tasted good, but the texture was off. Kale pieces were still distinguishable (vs being completely pulverized as a Vitamix would do) so it was a little weird to sip and feel the kale bits floating around. I finally got to Playa Bowls yesterday after eagerly awaiting trying it. I ordered the Pura Vida bowl which came with blueberries, strawberries, honey, and granola. It was really delicious and filling. There were plenty of fresh blueberries and strawberries on it which was great. My only issue was the wait time. There was only one poor girl taking orders in person and on the phone, as well as making the bowls. It took about 25 minutes and maybe a little more for me to get my bowl which seemed too long for what it was in my opinion. Overall, I had a pleasant experience, but not sure I will be returning. To start, the parking is horrible and nearly impossible to get to from the opposite side of the street. Once you do get in the spot, trying to back out is a nightmare. I'm aware they can't control parking or the street, which is why I still gave 4 stars. My bowl was tasty, but different than what I get from the location on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey. There, the base is creamy and more like a smoothie bowl. Here, my acai base was much more icy and chunky, almost like water ice. While I'm sure many people prefer that texture, I do not. Also, the bowls are very pricey for the serving you receive. Between the undesirable parking, different texture, hefty price and extremely high sugar content, acai bowls are best left for a treat while down the shore (for me). read more

I loved the atmosphere of this place! Super colorful and tropical, and it was cool to see a big menu with a lot of different things to choose from. The bowl I got was good but definitely could've been better! I got a the electric mermaid bowl; there wasn't a lot of fruit in it, which was a bummer; and the pineapple in it was not fresh pineapple. The granola had air dried blueberries in it and it was way too sweet- the point of a pitaya bowl is that it's a healthy alternative... there's no need for the added extra sweet granola and sugary coconut flakes. It kind of takes away from the nutritional aspect of it all. I would go back again to check out other things on the menu!! I have been going to this place faithfully for almost a year now. Literally 3 or more times a week. There is a lot of turnover here, a continuous rotation of new employees. As a result, the consistency of how the bowls are made is poor. The portion size seems to be getting smaller despite the price increase. The friendliness of the staff is poor as well. It doesn't appear all employees are trained the same. Some know they sell granola and others don't. Many seem confused when ordering a bag of granola. I still love the taste of the bowls however I think I will start making my own bc of the inconsistency. I'm a stickler for great customer service. read more
