Ordered the pura vida, my go to açaí bowl because it is topped with strawberries, granola bananas. It was refreshing and loved the açaí texture and taste. This Playa Bowls is inside a gym which is inside an apartment building. Five floors up or an elevator ride up, then pass by a front desk and some mire walk. It is pricey but worth it. Portions are huge so you either should be hungry or share it. Staff is helpful. read more

Remember when we all used to think smoothie and acai bowls were the epitome of health? I would eat a gigantic one of these and feel uber healthy and cleansed. Little did I know it was in fact quite the opposite (l o l). Anyway! We know better now, but that doesn't mean we don't deserve to treat ourselves every now and then. This place is one of my favorites in the city to get acai bowls. Their branding is very cute and very not confusing, which can be the case for many places that offer customizations. They have a variety of "bases" from coconut, acai, chia pudding (wow, so fance), green, banana and pitaya (kind of like a red dragon fruit). For toppings you have almost all the fruits you can think of, nut butters, Nutella, superfoods (e.g. cacao nibs, goji, hemp seeds, etc), granola, coco flakes, etc. There's prob a million diff combos you can make with the above ingredients and as Cady Heron once said, the limit does not exist. This is a great spot tucked inside the Mercedes Club. The açaí bowls are all great and the perfect amount of food. Good seating area to sit and enjoy and the staff is all very friendly. The fruit was very fresh and the flavors were great. The ratios of all the ingredients is exactly what I want in a good bowl. Currently only providing take away at the location I visited. This was my first time trying an açaí bowl and justified up the 15$ price tag using that. First off, this portion was huge and could have easily been split in two, then saved for later. The bowl was tasty, full of different textures, and they do not skimp on anything. I got the Nutella bowl and was expecting a little drizzle on top of under the fruit - Nope. It was a hearty portion of Nutella, which I definitely enjoyed. This place is a bit confusing to get to. It's inside Mercedes club, upstairs. Go through the entrance (yellow walls) west of the MKT. use the elevator to go to the "second floor" or HC floor. If you take the stairs it will take you four flights before you're at the top. Once you get to the top floor, walk toward the front desk and then turn around and go straight directly behind you, and you'll hit Playa Bowl. There's just one person working but people filing in and out at any given time making it a bit of a wait to get your bowl or smoothie even though there isn't really a line. Fruits are fresh and the price is moderate. They have tons of bowls and smoothie options. This is probably convenient if you live in this immediate area and have no other options or if you're already working out in the club, but otherwise I would say get your smoothies and bowls elsewhere. read more

Love the location down at the jersey shore so I thought I'd give this location a try. I always order through seamless, and out of the 5/6 times I've ordered it's only come edible twice. It's either the bowl is melted and spilled all over the bag, or the bowl is missing something. Today's issue is that there's double the amount of granola that should be in the bowl, which makes it completely inedible. Hardly any fruit either. I've ordered from here on a handful of occasions because the first and second time were delicious and great. However, in the last few months that I've ordered, it's been completely melted and watery--this has happened for both pick-up and delivery instances. Also, as of recent, I think their bowls have gotten significantly smaller in size so it's definitely not worth the price anymore! So disappointed. I no longer want to take the gamble because I'm not sure what the quality of my bowl will be each time. Stumbled onto this gem after hitting the gym at the club, the bowls are delicious, massive, and beautiful! I ordered the Nutella bowl but each time I come back I try something different.
