My son loves it. The classes and camps are educational and fun. They have classes in the mornings for homeschool too.

Andy Smallman went above and beyond in helping me feel heard and offered suggestions for other support in the Seattle area (our son is a 5th grader and not qualified). I will not hesitate to reach out to Spring Academy in the future. Andy called weeks later after our first phone call to check in. His compassion and encouragement is wonderful.

I cannot give Spring a higher recommendation. Our entire Spring experience by far exceeded our…read morefamily's expectations. Our student came in feeling discouraged and disconnected from learning. Her experience at Spring built up her confidence and helped her develop independent study skills in a positive environment. Their approach intentionally fosters students to develop motivation from within. The teachers are skilled and patient, meeting the student where they are at and helping them discover their own interests and goals. The administration is communicative, organized, and hands-on. The head of the school, Andy, has a genuine passion for students and their learning experience. While I was a little hesitant about the non-traditional approach when I first heard of Spring, my first conversation with Andy gave me an instant wave of relief. He knew exactly how to help when we were at a loss of how best to do so. Out of the gate, he understood our goals as parents and our student's goals for herself, empathized with challenges we'd experienced, and explained how the structure and curriculum of Spring is designed to nurture students and embrace their strengths. Our student maintained a hybrid schedule between Spring and public school; we started with one class at Spring, but after seeing the improvement all around, shifted more of her core classes over and maintained electives at public school. They were flexible and helped us with all transitions, including helping with credit transfer. What I appreciate most is the shift we saw at home -- no more constant tension over homework, incentives and punishments, disciplined schedules and nagging. Spring stepped in with the kind of support I'd been trying to provide on my own, allowing me to take a giant step back, and our student to take gain independence and ownership of her obligations. We are all breathing easier! Thank you, Spring!

Having a child that is non verbal can be very hard in school settings. CHILD is supportive with his AAC device and any other resources to make our son successful at school. He spent too much time non-educative time in isolation in the Seattle Public Schools and did not learn new skills to help him regulate himself or interact with others. I spent most of every school day at his Seattle elementary school trying to help him get his school work done in his self-contained classroom. The Children's Institute has been a life-saver in terms of allowing him a safe place to learn these skills as well as move on academically. They are able to accept him the way he is and have never called me to come and get him. If he does have outbursts, they are able to staff to allow time for someone to spend time with him out of the classroom without putting him by himself in the "quiet room" Plus, he loves it there! I highly recommend this school if your child is not doing well in a traditional public school due to emotional/behavioral differences.

I have visited the Learning Tools studio last summer…read more Sophia, the teacher, is very sweet, kind, educated, and professional. When I arrived, she just finished a learning session with a girl that was about 7 years old. I complemented the studio and said to the teacher that I would love to see it around and the young student asked if she could show me around. She was so excited about being there. She showed me her favorite books and then took me to a table with words, alphabet, and figures that they made of clay and explained what the words mean. From my own experience, I know that it's very hard to live with dyslexia. A simple homework might seem very difficult, not because of lack of intelligence but because the standard teaching method doesn't work for students with dyslexia, no matter how much you read it doesn't get easier. Sophia's Learning Tools program is the solution. I wish I had a teacher like her when I was 7 year old. Dyslexia can be corrected whether you are a child or an adult, you just need the right teaching instructions. I recommend the Learning Tools studio for work on correcting dyslexia. It's a big step forward. It works!

We had heard good things about Sophia's program and decided to take our daughter in for an assessment. The assessment was very precise and articulate. This gave us the confidence to move forward and commit to the full week program. Our daughter was hesitant but agreed to go. We picked her up for lunch after the first mornings session. My daughter figured out Sophia understood the challenges she was facing everyday. She was excited to go back that afternoon. The program was both a financial commitment and a time commitment and the value, experience and results make this an easy 5 star program. My recommendation is sooner the better and our appreciation for Sophia runs deep. Thank you! Jeff C.
