The teachers are so mindful of how each child develops, it really does make you stop and think why it doesn't happen this way everywhere. I should also point out that our son is autistic and simply learns and interacts in his own way. The way he learns with the teachers and class mates is so organic that it doesn't even seem like he's being treated differently. And in reality I don't think he is being treated differently, which is exactly how I want my son treated. On top of the great staff, agile curriculum, and hands on learning... it's affordable. I'm sure you can find cheaper if you really look, but you will not find a better early learning experience for the price. Or for that matter, even more expensive options would have a tough time competing with this team. My child is currently 5 years old and autistic. Performing math at a 1st-2nd grade level. I have heard other stories where some facilities don't understand the different needs of care for preemies than others babies, for example with feedings, and crawling. She is so helpful too with continuing the needs of her OT to further her development. Just recently she completed a build out in their garage for a beautiful room for all the kiddos. Allowing them more space for play and learning, including a nice outdoor spot as well. An added bonus she uses a great online system to track the learning plans and daily activities, food schedules, etc. that you can have easy access too throughout the day online or by mobile app.

I am particularly impressed with how the caregivers and teachers take a genuine interest in the progress and lives of each of the children in their class. Whenever I've had questions, the Orchards Director has been easy to reach and prompt in her responses. The classrooms have been recently renovated and are kept clean. There is a good variety of age appropriate and safe toys in all of the classrooms. Security is well maintained with video monitoring, keypad access to facilities and fenced outdoor play areas. I love the phone application that they use for the secure check in and out procedure, as well as the photo updates throughout the day. Their Junior Kindergarten class is quite robust in its educational curriculum. The lead Junior Kindergarten teacher has been teaching young students for over 20 years, I believe. I'm honestly impressed at the progress my four year old has made behaviorally and educationally. They also have done a great job at offering events throughout the year. Kids Christmas program, picture days, Easter egg hunts, "pumpkin patch" etc. I couldn't recommend the Orchards more.

All play areas have adjacent paths for continuous easy movement. The colorful park has a tree and meadow motif, with plants and creatures depicted in the equipment and the poured-in-place rubber surfacing. The playground includes features designed to encourage healthy physical development, such as slides, swings, spinners, and climbing rocks, as well as nontraditional playground activities designed for sensory development. The playground is divided into three areas: One play area focuses on early childhood, one focuses on children ages 5 to 12, and one is easily used by both groups for climbing, swinging, spinning and sliding. Children can play anywhere on the playground, but the design allows younger children to play independently from older children. The early childhood areas feature equipment that helps young children develop balance, coordination, social skills, and imagination. They can climb on a sculpted ladybug, and spin in an Omni Spinner and on a ring-like Super Nova. A glider swing is big enough to accommodate a pile of kids. They can try the balance beam and play in a little house. In the painted-games area, children can hopscotch on a dragonfly or balance on a bee flying to a flower. The Rolling Hills synthetic turf mound invites them to climb up and roll down, and in a climbing area, they can travel the circular walk or climb the tree to the top of a play structure and slide down the slide. Children on tricycles or in wheelchairs rolling on the Wavy Walk can stop at a stop sign, fill up at the gas station, and slow down in the school zone. They can also enjoy the sensory delight of making music on oversized instruments. A central covered area with picnic tables allows parents to sit in the shade and see almost every play area. Benches are also scattered around the periphery. A bathroom was clean and close by. This park is definitely worth the trip. Bring a picnic, but don't bring your dog. Dogs (other than service animals) aren't allowed.

Karen is nurturing and loving with babies and she supports and encourages learning with the older kids while still letting them be kids. She schedules one on one time with each kid each day for sit down learning time. No sterile, cookie-cutter "center" here, it's a loving home setting with fun activities, daily walks to the grade school (my preschooler loves playing on the playground at the big kid's school), a great backyard and location. I also like that it's located on quiet cul-de-sac where the older kids can ride bikes and scooters in nice weather. She provides transportation and after school care for Soos Creek Elementary, Emerald Park Elementary and Little Charger Preschool at Kentridge High so we plan to have our kids with Karen for a good long time.
