I have not been to the club scene for a long while until recently. I only came here because my…read moreout-of-town friend visiting. I couldn't believe that was my first time step into South Beach Club (SoBe) since I moved to Houston almost 2 decades ago. Every time I came to SoBe, I got turned away by the long line wrapped around the parking lot before midnight. That's when I normally get off work. But this time, we stopped by on Saturdays. We came super early, like 9:30 pm. Yeah. We got our free pass. Normally, it's $10 cover charge, which isn't bad because there is a huge dance floor with high tech lighting system and sounds system. It was totally worth every penny. Because we love to dance. We adore the music to our liking, more like in the 90's oldies. Yeah, we are older than most people on the dance floor. Thank goodness they didn't kick us out. I remember one night there was a huge group of young Asian guys came in around 10 pm. There were also many birthday celebrations around the seating area. Boy, I would love to sit on a cozy chair after dancing my ass off. Looks like they have some kind of VIP access. There were also girls and straight couples on the dance floor and around the lounge area. Oh, there is a cool patio on the side. Restroom was clean. Looks like there was some kind of upgrades at the club. Yeah. I would definitely return.

Always great staff and fun times. A true open and accepting environment. I recommend getting on the…read morespeakers and dancing the night away.

The service is very warm and friendly, and the servers are incredibly attentive and happy to recommend different menu items. I went with some friends on a Friday afternoon and there was ample parking, quick seating and service. We got a bruschetta board, and I loved having the option to choose 4 from a wide assortment, from sweet to savory. The smoked salmon and bacon, tomato, burrata bruschetta were great, and the prosciutto ricotta fig was my favorite by far. All of them were on a delicious piece of toasted bread, and I thought it was a great deal. They are great to share as they are cut into 4 pieces. The interior was dimly lit, but warm, and the bathroom was clean and well-kept. The seating was comfortable and there was a variety of options from bar to booth. Overall, I would highly recommend coming!

Start with the Crispy Cauliflower, it was cooked just right the was very tasty. The romeseco sauce was tangy and the raisins were sweet added a nice complement of texture. For the entree. I choose "Select Two" with a Half Panini and salad; the Italian Beef dip Panini (no cheese on focaccia bread), the Green Garden Chicken Chop (no cheese). The Italian Beef Dip Panini was tasty... the dip was a bit too salty. You get a choice of bread, I selected the focaccia based on recommendation... such a good choice. The Green Garden Chicken Chop is a hardy salad and definitely a garden party, each bite gave a different texture and taste, I really like this one. This can be a place for family, friends or a date.

The drinks were solid, and the overall atmosphere was definitely a vibe. We went on a Saturday evening, so it was pretty crowded, but once we found our spot in the Gold Room, we stayed there most of the night. Great music, great energy, and a unique concept. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something different for a night out. Not sure how it took me this long to stumble in here. Parking is what it is downtown so, there's that.

The lighting is dark, intimate, and behind every level and door, there is something else going on. There is an element of discovery in every corner and a new adventure on every floor. Ever watch the movie Tron? There are some areas of BCD that feel incredibly futuristic with neon-lit interiors and a legitimate sci-fi feel in some areas. The areas are ass follows: The main bar with a DJ and a spacious dance floor, the red room with a visualizer setup of big bass and pulsating lights, the gold room with a speakeasy feel and a curated cocktail menu, with the secret room that is a unique space behind a certain set of doors. Most of the music on the main bar is good, the DJs are energetic, and the bartenders are efficient while professional. It's not the easiest place to photograph anything, but the different (hidden) spaces make it a worthy destination for discovery. The one area that I don't love is that they rock automatic gratuity. I do love how diverse the crowd is on the weekends, which is a testament to the city. Drinks are solid, but the speakeasy drinks are the ones that stand out the most. The latter definitely comes at a price, but beware that some drinks may have all the presence but not enough of the substance. __________ My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/behind-closed-doors-houston?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ
