Me and a few of my friends went out to Tony's Bar for the very first time, but our experience was cut short. The show was great until the owner, Tony, came up to me and gave me a malicious smile. Tony told me to be happy and to put a smile on my face as he slipped a dollar bill down my shirt and proceeded to squeeze my chest. It only occurred for a few seconds, and I froze. As Tony finished, he ran away and I couldn't catch him. If Tony hadn't fled, I would have knocked him out myself. I have never felt so disgusted and horrible in my life. Being touched by an old, fat man is such a horrible feeling. I then left the bar in a traumatized state of mind. I understand that gay culture is often normalized as sexual, but that does not give any man the right to touch a twenty-one-year-old without consent. As gay men, let's not normalize being touched by other gay men without permission. I don't recommend this bar to anyone who is uncomfortable with being sexually touched or harassed. I pray and hope this, or anything like sexual assault, never happens to anyone else. read more

My favorite go go dancer/gay strip club, whatever you call it in all of Texas so far. Hottest male dancers, decent drag shows, and good drinks. Patio area is nice but if you're going to the show make sure you reserve a seat early so you can see the show. Place gets crowded very quickly. No private rooms for lap dances unfortunately but the dancers are good giving table dances. They could also use a stripper pole as well but I'm being nitpicky. read more

My colleague and I were barhopping around town, hitting up all the gay hot beds (pun intended), and of all the places, Tony's pulled out all the stops. No lines, no cover, no divas -- well, there were a few queens, but that's just part of the show -- and no parking fees. And it's the other side of the spectrum from the gay bars in Montrose, of which I only like one. This place is friendly. In Montrose you either get uppity or creepy. I don't get that feeling from staff or patrons here, aside from maybe one or two of the dancers. It's a wild Saturday night out. Lots of fun, unless you're an uppity prude. I've been coming to this place from out of town when I visit my sister for at least three years. She has as much fun as I do. Always a good time always plenty of security for the parking lot. A amazing view of the skyline at night. that makes beautiful pictures from their decks, amazing shows and beautiful strippers who are kind. The building is old but you don't even mind you have such a good time. I made friends with a couple of the strippers and not in the proverbial way. They're both gay and straight and one that I really connected with introduced me to his girlfriend as we left for the night. Between Christmas and New Year's the last time I went my sister was sick and not able to go with me and he actually remembers us from the 2 to 3 times a year I get to go and said to let her know he wished she was not sick and couldn't wait to see her next time And he made it. Every night at Tony's is a good night. Did you know that they're open every day of the year? I had the honor of meeting Tony on one of the slower nights during Harvey, and learned that his vision was to have a place for the community to come together for a drink, no matter what day of the year. On one of those rare, slow nights, you'll get to personally know the bartenders and Tony, and have a fun time doing shooters and dancing to the jukebox. On most nights, you'll have your wretched fun with all the fabulous dancers, who will be wearing almost nothing and shaking their bootay thing trying to earn some $ (for college tuition?). Good time with nice people. Last week, I was in Houston for only one night. I had never been to Houston before and was happy to find this bar. I was there Monday night between 6-8 or so, so non-peak hours. I enjoyed some drinks by myself but enjoyed company and casual conversation with the bar tender and other patrons, all of who were extremely cordial and welcoming. The bar tender in particular was a very sweet and enjoyable to talk to, and always made sure you had a drink when you needed one. Hung out with my *Judy(gay best friend). This place was so much fun. We laughed and threw singles and got drunk on well liquor. Okay the place is on Dallas St between Montrose and I45. I recommend GPSing it because going from my apartment it sent me through downtown. So the parking lot is 5 bucks. The front lot is paved. Additional parking is dirt. It's cool if it's not wet out. If you get there early like I did there is street parking available if you can find it. Okay so when you walk in. The front door is hard to find. You walk through a fence then to a patio. Then the door is around the side. I'm sure someone will direct you. The inside isn't very glamorous. It's just an old montrose gay bar. With a bunch of gyrating strippers. They are very touchy; so do not get offended. I was a little at first when my ass was grabbed. So I just grabbed his and kept dancing. Lol So ladies. If you just want to go to a club without all the men hounding you. This is the spot. And the gays love buying drinks and telling you you're fabulous! They might grab your ass but it's a cool trade off. I'll be back. Oh, and bring singles to tip the dancers. And guys if you feel like you're sexy and want to test it. Amateur strippers definitely is the trend here. So wear cute underwear. read more

Ok, so me and my friends are regulars here. How do you tell if you're a regular? If you know most of the dancers' names and even have nicknames for some of them (there's Leech, and Ratchet, and there's Flat Ass -- just to name a few), then you're probably a regular. And if the bartender (our favorite is Josh, who mans the back bar) has a special drink he makes just for you and your friends, then you're probably a regular. Fridays and Saturdays are when they're busiest and when most of the dancers are out. Thursdays and Sundays are more relaxed, so if you don't like competing with others for the dancers' attention then those two days are your best bet. Like others have mentioned, if you're a prude or if dive bars aren't your thing, then Tony's is probably not for you. Otherwise, this is a great hangout just to chill at or to stare at half-naked boys. There's a few regular creepsters who I always stare down and make slashing gestures at when they try to approach us, but otherwise everyone is friendly and just looking to have a good time. And the boys always try to make sure you're having fun, so make sure you tip them because they work hard (har har). Just please don't play pool on the pool table -- that's not what it's there for! This is one of those spots that after being there for an hour you realize that you are having a great time, but don't remember deciding that this would be the choice. So...the drinks are very strong and they are cheap. The crowd is...ummm...interesting. On my first visit some months ago, I found myself literally sitting next to a mature gentleman that had an oxygen bottle and was playing Angry Birds on his tablet. I have also seen the 'hipsters' of the community stroll through having a blast. There is a drag show with Ann-Marie and she is a hoot. However, Tony's is pretty much known for their strippers - some of which can be a little rough around the edges, but aren't most strippers (gay or straight)? A good thing that I like about Tony's is that you can go there and not feel like you are a) being hustled by the strippers or b) being hit on by others. The view of downtown Houston from the upstairs patio is breathtaking and a great place to enjoy a drink away from the boys on stage. I don't have enough exemplary things to say about McDonald. In the 1950's he would have been described as "Top drawer"; he is a true master of his craft and is second to none in my opinion. McDonalds abilities far supersede those of any bartender known to me in this day and age. He has the perilous ability to concoct the most magical libations from the most rudimentary spirits and mixers. Only the greatest of craftsmen can be inspired to achieve his level of paragon. Outstanding admiration is given every time I am graced with his service. Outside of being an exceptional bartender, I would rank him as first class in service. Just because you serve dose not mean you're ruled by those you serve. McDonald transcends the conventional aspects of service to deliver a sound and resolute experience to any patron who he has the pleasure to be in his grace and presence. If I could bestow a trophy exemplifying the well deserved accolades; The trophy would dwarf that of national monuments built to honour great men. Jordan, the bar manager also deserves equitable footing. When called upon there is no task too petty or great for which he will tackle steadfast and resolute. In the face of great adversity he acts with honour and serves at the pleasure of his trade with grace, determination and above all else dignity. I moved here about six months ago from the northeast. Tony's was the first bar I visited and I enjoyed myself. I visited twice before. Fast forward to coronavirus era. Bars finally reopen. I visit, enter, attempt to go into the main bar/performance area and there a line (capacity/ social distancing rules). At the top of the line is an old man massaging the shoulders of every guy he allowed inside. It was my turn to enter. He attempts to massage my shoulder and I gently kept his hand away with my hand and said "please don't do that". Guy turns out to be Tony, the owner and was apparently offended. I enjoy coming to Tonys. It's a good time and a nice place to relax and enjoy the shows. The dancers usually change a bit every few months and most of them are very friendly (obviously), but some have been known to have some ego issues. I think the staff does a great job reminding dancers who the clients are and what kind of establishment it is. Drinks are affordable and the staff is friendly. The hosts do a really great job and Ann Marie engages the audience really well and keeps their attention so things don't get stale. Lots of talent and good views. The only thing I wish they had was more space on the inside...sometimes it can get very packed and it can take away from the enjoyment of the evening. Their stage remodel turned out really nice, but took away space that they desperately need. However, still a great establishment and you can always expect a good time. read more

Oh where oh where do I start?? Well, this is a very hole in the wall/divey bar and if you like that and the combination with strippers then this is your place. I was thoroughly shocked when I walked into this place and have to say I will never be back. The inside is dirty and nasty (I really don't want to know what is on the floor) and one of the polls was coming out of the ceiling as a guy was on it. Maybe it was me being a prude (I don't like strippers or strip clubs) but this was not my cup of tea.
