But the special shout out goes to Astrid, who's one of the most beautiful women in the world, and would have definitely won the bikini contest the other night (Barbi insisted that we go, she's the best gf ever) if she had entered it. It's a Latin nightclub located in the heart of EaDo. I stopped by on a Friday evening around 11:30. A lot of clubs have a cover and a long line. This is not something I experienced here. No cover and no line. They do have bouncers checking your ID though and cops to pat you down. The club also looks great from the outside. Lots of neon lights will help you spot it from a mile away. Once you walk in, the experience isn't as great. I compare Mala Vide to Fabian's and Gloria's. Here, the dance floor is relatively small. Smaller than you would think. The DJ was playing mostly Latin music with some rap mixed in. I didn't know some of the songs since I'm a gringo but there were some I did like Bad Bunny. And they played Danza Kurduro which is one of my favorite jams! While the dance floor wasn't big, a lot of people were dancing. While they have booths you can reserve and bottle service, we just ordered at the bar. A couple of annoying things here. They will run your card every time, you can't keep your tab open. I've seen other bars do this in EaDo and I don't get it. And they also automatically add 20% gratuity. Which is also screwed up. The second room seems to stick mostly to reggaeton and hip hop. Live bands rotate every week and play on both Fridays and Saturdays. ​Both halls feature large bars. There is plenty of seating available if you are purchasing alcohol. If you are not drinking, you cannot sit down for free; you have to pay for a table. The staff is friendly. Drinks run between $8 and $15 for alcoholic options, and water is $4. ​A notable thing here is that a lot of people come specifically to dance--I saw women coming alone and positioning themselves near the dance floor. The crowd felt like it was generally mid-20s and above. The overall atmosphere with other patrons was friendly and not combative. The original tab was also opened over an hour before my wedding ended (which included an open bar), the guest was my maid of honor and none of my guests were at the Black Swan at this point because why would anyone go pay for drinks when they can get them for free???? After trying to get this resolved the day after while I was still at the hotel, I was handed off to multiple other people, and then written off by Ms. Lawson. Even after I had proof that the guest wasn't the one who opened that tab, Ms. Lawson would not reply to multiple emails about this situation and effectively ghosted me. DO NOT come here unless you're paying in cash and ready to deal with this shady operation, it was a huge stain on the night having to deal with something that management roped me into.
