My review for kiddo spots continue! While in the area over the weekend for a holiday event, we finally had the opportunity to step into Play Ground in Castro Valley. We were thinking we would only inquire about pricing/find out what kind of indoor play equipment they had, but to our surprise, we ended up staying and having such a great time. They had super fun and appropriate kiddo music playing that I feel my husband and I were def jamming out to, and they walked us through the amenities for our kiddo's age range. Luckily everyone was wearing socks in our group :) For parents they have massage chairs (for a cost) that I took advantage of while my husband/kiddo played. What a concept! Mom gets a massage while the fam has fun too! Honestly, such a nice touch. We heard on Tuesday/Thursday they do half-off discounts during the day, and another parent mentioned that equals to about $8 or so. We already can't wait to come back, and have made a few fun picture-worthy memories. They have really cool equipment to explore and have a party room which is cool for future moments. They are also in great walking distance to yummy spots for food/treats across the street and next door. Street parking can be found. read more

The kids' play area was extremely disappointing. The entire place felt dirty and poorly maintained, with no real attention to cleanliness. The seating area and even the cement surfaces were visibly dirty, which is completely unacceptable for a place meant for children. What was especially concerning is that kids are expected to walk around in socks, while adults are walking through the same areas with dirty shoes. This creates a very unsanitary environment and exposes children to dirt and bacteria. There should be strict hygiene rules in place, but clearly there are none being enforced. Overall, the place gives off a sense of neglect and lack of responsibility when it comes to children's health and safety. It felt disgusting and not safe for kids. I would not recommend bringing children here until serious improvements are made in cleanliness and hygiene standards. read more

You should have your kids birthday party here! I've already left a review about this play place. But I just had my daughter's 5th birthday party here so I wanted to add to my review. The grand room is really big, and it was already set up for us. I had my own banner so the staff traded it with the one they had hanging. They offered to help bring items in, were able to set up the baseball game on the tv for us, helped serve the pizza and cake and then did the clean up. I love bringing my babies here, it's a perfect environment for them to explore and you can see the whole facility pretty much no matter where you are standing/ sitting, which makes it enjoyable because you're not having to run around chasing them the whole time lol you can just enjoy. They keep it really clean also, I've never had an ick feeling and I've even climbed to the top and went down the slides myself as an adult lol The front desk girlies are sooo sweet and have such good energy. It's closer to home, a decent size to have visibility on your kid, and has great service! Wow. First time here and it is pretty darn nice. So my review is based on bringing a 4 and 2 year old on a Tuesday afternoon birthday gathering. The first and only indoor playground before this place was we in Dublin. So I don't have a ton of places to compare with. Dublin was nice but it was huge. It required some effort to keep tabs on the two balls of energy. This place was not small but not too big. It was the ideal size. My wife and I just sat on a bench near the front and watched them play. I mean the two year old was comfortable because he could go upstairs and still see mom. Here is a golden nugget tip, sign the waiver before you arrive. It'll save you time. We had to do it at the front as both kids were screaming of excitement asking "can we go can we go play!?" Also, make sure your kids are wearing socks unless you are one of those barefoot type of people. No judgement from me. Other than that, release the kids and let them tire themselves out. Obviously it was less crowded on a Tuesday. I can see this place go nuts and having to pay more attention to our little one on a weekend so he does not get run over by bigger kids. Checked out this place for my child's classmates birthday. Loved that it was super local, but personally I felt it was a bit dirty.... Maybe I am that somewhat overly cautious mother but the equipment seemed sticky, the floors around the playground were dusty and dirty so it didn't leave the best impression for me. It's not super big, but it was a okay size for the toddlers. I wish that the infant portion has more activities or options for them as they seemed very limited. We booked a party for our kids' birthday. Overall, the experience was smooth but approach is sloppy. Pros -workers are nice -package made it easy for a party -get parking passes for guests to park in the back on weekends Cons -sloppy! They sent me an email 1 week before the party with the WRONG Date, so sloppy and makes me lose trust! Had a freak out and they barely even acknowledged their mistake -the mandatory 18% gratuity is a little outrageous because the workers do not really help that much, nor do they supervise and enforce safety rules. Very passive. -one of our guests' younger kid left to look for another kid, the parent noticed and chased after; workers do NOT pay attention even though there is a GROUP of them hanging out at the front. (I understand it is still the responsibility of the parent, but the workers are not paying attention even when there was a group of 3 at the front). -you are limited by how much time you get to set up based on what is booked. Which you have to ask to find out; they won't just tell you. -Also, while cleaning up after the party, the owner of the Play Ground came in WITHOUT introduction and started taking pictures WITHOUT permission. Poor manners. I only found out that she was the owner because one of the workers mentioned it to me. -After walking out, owner was pretty aggressive in informing me about all their summer camps and activities to boost her business. Unsolicited. Also, a suggestion is to include all pertinent information on your website in the email so it's easier for the parents while planning. For example, I didn't realized you can have guests arrive 15 min before the party to do waivers until after I saw the Q&A of the website. Things like this should be all included in the email confirmation to streamline it. I probably wouldn't book a party here again. The kids had fun but the sloppiness was a turnoff. read more

We booked a birthday party here for our twins 7th birthday on a Saturday afternoon. We were quoted at $650 + tax + mandatory gratuity of 18% for their "small party room". The following narrative describes why we are leaving a low rating for this experience. When we reserved the party by email and phone, we were accidentally charged the full fee of almost $850, which took 3 phone calls to resolve and correct to the quoted $150 deposit. We were also extremely disappointed with the space when we arrived for the party. I'm uploading photos with this review of the space we were directed to when we arrived. It was not a room, but a hallway/storage area in the far back of the building leading to the emergency exit, bathroom, and staff break room painted in solid white with brown pipes and brown rails from the ramp going to the rear parking. There was no door/separation from the rest of the space. We felt very taken advantage of and complained to the manager after having paid $850 for what we thought was an actual party room (we had been there previously for another party, but seemed to be double booked during our party). We asked the manager what could be done to remedy the situation. She offered to discount the total for a misunderstanding on what a "small party room" is (after printing out and highlighting this text in our email chain) and then offered to move us to the area under the piñata, which was loud and busy but worked out much better for our needs. I'm adding back a star because our kids had a blast playing on the playground and really enjoyed the party, despite the very uncomfortable situation for all the parents. When I finally went to pay the bill, the manager said there would be no discount and continued to argue about the meaning of a "small party room" (which again, should be referred to as an "area" or "hallway" for future parties). We finally received a 10% refund by cash, since the computer system wasn't working. In summary, I leave you with my final word of caution: if you're booking a space here for a party, make sure you go in and physically see the space before you fall victim to the same (very expensive) scam. read more

This is a Community spot where kids, parents and families can come and have a good time. The kids playing sure had all the energy in them to run around play then to go home and I bet sleep well. Kids will climb, swing, slide and more. Friday is movie night. There are other enrichment activities too then go play before or after. There's a party room where you can have a private birthday party which is quite large then there's a Mad Hatter Tea Party like room that's whimsical and great to take photos. The bathrooms are clean! and there's changing stations in them. And they're big enough that you won't bang your head if you have to go in with your kid and I think your stroller would fit too. Everybody there is nice and parents can chat with each other or just grab some time time relax. And I do mean relax as in the back there are massage chairs. It really i s a sanctuary to gain some sanity for kids to play and you can catch your breath to sit for a while. It is in a very central location of downtown Castro Valley. So if you want to drop your kiddos off for an enrichment class/session or Friday movie night, you can and do some things for yourself then come back. And The Playground helps fundraise for their community members as there was a Black History Month fundraiser for the elementary schools and more for the schools. First off, I am ecstatic to find out about this place! Very close to home. I usually drive at least 30 minutes to get to a nearby indoor park in Hayward. Having this in a ten minute or less drive is, hallelujah, a gem! PLACE: The place is in a smaller side (in comparison to other indoor parks we've been to) but is perfect for those who prefer to constantly see your dynamic littles from merely sitting in one spot (like moi). There are plenty of long cushioned chairs for sitting. The play structure is two layer, with a small area for toddlers and the big area for 4 years to 12 years old. There are three slides - two dual slides and a tube slide. The second layer has a lot of wiggle room for kids to jump, bounce, hang out, etc. There are five bathrooms. There is a big room for parties and another back room with a whimsical Alice in Wonderland setup. So much thought was given in the latter. Small details are cute. CLEANLINESS: Very clean - they are basically new. They require masks (for now). STAFF: Staff is very attentive to parents and kids. They read the rules before starting to play. The owner is very friendly and pleasant and toured me and the other parent around the facility. The other staff is watching the littles closely, ensuring their safety. Very impressive. PROGRAMS: They offer movie nights every Friday for 3 hours. It is a drop off event. They also have an after school program I think. PARKING: Street parking. I've been to a lot of indoor playgrounds and this is probably my favorite place for my 2.5 year old based on price, cleanliness and safety! It's always very clean when we are there (and much cleaner than other indoor playgrounds we've been to). The size of the play space is just right for him too. Was just here for a birthday. My takeaways: -Parking is pretty tough. We got a pass to park in the back (I think) but were able to find street. The pass is limited to two hours though, so not sure what happens if you exceed that time. -Staff are all masked but masking not enforced to customers. Up to you how you feel about that. -No communal slippers to wear like Bumblebee in Newark. You can wear shoes outside of the play area but inside you only can wear socks. The floor is also very industrial like so the ground is not soft. -I think you can book different packages--the one we were in, you only had two hours and then had to vacate. You can still play in the facility but need to move your stuff out of the room. -Staff is very friendly and helpful in the party room, serving and cleaning up. -I think you can book the whole place out if you have a party but I assume that's the most expensive band. Our party did not, so we were intermixed with all the other kids/parties. Place can become extremely busy and crowded when mixed with other kids. -Staff doesn't really walk around sanitizing or supervising the areas; I guess the latter is left to the parents/guardians. The toddler play room (1-3 year olds; sign outside the play area) was constantly being overrun with kids older than 3; at one point another dad told two kids over 3 that they were older than the room; they calmly left afterwards. -The space is not super big so both bigger and smaller kids are mixing constantly. When it's packed (as it was when we went a few Saturdays ago), you really need to make sure your little ones (I have a 3.5 and a 1.5 year old) don't get run over by the older kids. There's civility for the most part, but definitely keep an eye out when it's busy. My kids had fun here, and they run a good program...I just didn't like the older and younger kids mixing as much (Bumblebee closes the entire facility for just your party I think by default). But good indoor playplace for parties. read more

We came here on a Sunday at 2pm. I paid for 1 hour passes for two boys, when they wanted to extend I asked the front desk if I can pay for 30 minute extensions but they let us extend for free because it wasn't too busy. I also checked their party room, it's pretty big. I've done my kid's parties at Jumpity Bumpity in Hayward and Kidtopia in Fremont and the party room in Playground is bigger than both place's party rooms. Wanted to love this place so badly, but it's a disappointment. This is the only indoor playground in Castro Valley and had the potential to be great, but it's lacking a few this. The inside is dark and the play structures feel crammed all together. Kids age goes from 1 - 12. There is only a quite small area for toddlers. And, there is no supervision from employees to avoid older kids to go in there, which is definitely a problem. Specially, with older kids running around crawlers or toddlers. The party/private event rooms are ugly decorated, dark and walls are painted with a granny yellow/beige color. Nothing inspiring. Their tea party room decoration is awful. The front area doesn't have a division to avoid kids running outside the front door. As most indoor playground, they have a "no shoes" policy for hygienic reasons. However, there isn't a clear division, so you and your kids end up with really dirty socks. Event/party pricing is outrageous for only 1 hour private room and 1 hour play. Cleanliness is not up there and sanitation doesn't seem to happen regularly during the day. I wish management could get inspired by other indoor playgrounds like Bumblebee in Newark or Mod Kids in Fremont. As well as, reviewing their pricing, event time (pre and after party) and real "private party", since those businesses offer the whole space when you book a private event. Thus, I'm driving further down from CV to either do play time or private party for my toddler. read more

This is such a great indoor playground! My son is 3 years old and was able to independently play with the entire structure. Visibility for parents is pretty much 360, and not too high so smaller children feel comfortable going through it. We t was clean and no too crowded. Snacks were available for purchase and you could wear your own socks - and didn't have to pay for extra grippy socks which was cool. We only paid for our son, not the adults so that was also great! What a wonderful place for kids of all ages! A sanity saving sanctuary for parents as well. The massage chairs facing the jungle gyms are such a bonus. I love this place as does my son. The moment we walk in he navigates himself to the cubby taking off his shoes, then off he goes to play for hours. VERY SAFE! VERY CLEAN! Sanitized constantly so it's Covid-friendly. Employees are always professional and cheerful with the kids. The owner, Mariam, very nice, she's a mom herself so this is her pride and joy and it shows in her eyes. We had a joint birthday party for my boy and girl here. The staff was very nice and they helped us a lot in fixing up the decorations and setting up the activities. Everyone loved the Piñata jump. Even though they let us use both rooms, we only needed the big room, though we had a large group. Even though the space isn't as big as some of the other play areas like in Pleasanton or Union City, it was perfect for us. It's a great for our kids to hang out too. Owner seems nice but the staff is out of it as I was told you can get in and out but the Miguel said only once as I stepped out to get fresh air while my child never left which left me baffled.
